My gut is that we are no longer shopping for permanent players in the heavily over inflated UK market. Partly why COH got rid of Wilder.

Don’t think you’re a million miles off. We seem to be focused on value, and there’s very little to be had of that in the UK market. I think of a premier league club is looking to move a youngster on (like Gilchrist or Rak-Sakyi) we might go in but only if it the terms are in our favour.

How it should be if you ask me, way too easy to get swept up in real life Football Manager and end up like that lot in south Barnsley.

The loan-to-buy option is a great idea too. Worked wonders for Burnley last season

I've not seen many 90 minutes of him, but I'm struggling to think of many better domestic CB targets than Hughes. Also feels realistic.

Would they sell him, on the knowledge they could only replace via the somewhat sparse free transfer pool?

I mean, there’s a couple of centre halves that are passable but it’s becoming an ever decreasing pool.

Dunno mate. Hopefully as looks like an ideal modern CB on the bits I have seen. Always heard good things as well.

Which is all true, but also a pointless argument because any £5m or however much defender would be structured exactly the same.

So cannon can be used as proof that they’ll allow some sort of expenditure if they think it’s a good deal
