He's good at winning aerial duels if that's what you mean? But for in-play pressing you need speed, agility, stamina, good passing and limited fouls. That's not how Moore plays.
That's not what I mean
Don't know what the stats are but I have seen Moore win the ball high up the pitch (on the deck ) more than all the other forwards put together with the possible exception of o hare

Nah someone must have been pulling your leg. Lowest number of tackles (in final third) p90, 2nd lowest interceptions p90, 2nd lowest ball recoveries p90.

No one is pulling my leg
I'm saying what I've seen with my own eyes
He wins the ball in the final third far more than any other striker early in the season he was clean through several times from his own pressing

But your point is right he is not traditionally the tupe you'd expect to be used in a high press

Okay I'll let Opta know

It's not just about chasing about and pressing, it's about keeping pressure on defences in other ways, winning 50-50s and getting it under control, and McBurnie is good at that, Moore isn't bad either

Balance is important as well. Would you rather have 3 attackers who are good pressers but lack physical presence or 2 who are pressers and 1 who has physical presence and the other attributes someone like McBurnie has?

We were good defending from the front when we had Ndiaye and McBurnie up there. That was about strength and ability more than anything. Ndiaye would press and hassle well but then also win the physical battles and keep the ball

If, according to some on here wilder is so good ,he'll be head hunted by another club soon and McBurnie can join him there

"Scotland International" I love it when they big up player with that crap. He's hasn't been selected for Scotland for four years, even when he wasn't injured.

Hull can have him.
If we have him back I’ll complain, if he goes to hull I think he’ll get them promoted. Funny how a football brain works

Hull will not get promoted. Anyway - McBurnie may do well for Hull but not sure they’ll keep him fully fit for 46 games.

Can’t see him ever coming back here now. Although I actually liked him while he was with us. Good luck to him wherever he ends up - either at Hull or elsewhere in the championship or Glasgow Rangers.

Bet they're missing his goal ratio

IF McB came back he might prove valuable (if he stays fit) in winning promotion. However, well then have him for at least 2 years in the PL.

If McBurnie is the answer, I dread what the question is. I loved his attitude but his scoring stats are woeful: 29 goals in 159 games over 5 seasons.
Whilst I get that it's not the entire picture.

For me he's a good, or actually pretty good championship forward who isn't quite up to the PL standard.
When he joined initially he did "OK" but it was clear his fitness needed improvement. Into his 2nd season and during covid he seemed to lose his head/attitude and discipline which resulted in a lack of goals and injury/fitness issues.

That first season back down was a lesson for him. Until Hecky came in and gave him a bit of boot up the arse he was struggling massively. He then started to improve but the goals didn't come till the promotion season. But when they did he also became a key cog of our promotion push. Assists came too.
In the PL 23/24 season he wasn't exactly electric but he offered something as a forward. 6 goals in 21 isn't bad for a striker who finished bottom of the PL.
That would equate to possibly 10-11 goals if he played in 38 games.... "possibly" being a big word there though.

With what I've just described above these stats perhaps tell the picture for me.
I'm not defending him, I also dont' think we will sign him but I think in this division he can offer quite alot as a forward.

I did actually like him as a player, as I said his attitude couldn't be faulted, and he could play some good football. But I really don't think that re-signing him would do us any favours: as you say, decent enough in Championship but he can't cut it at the top level. Good luck to him wherever he ends up (as long as it's not the Huns).

We should be all over McBurnie on a free. Whatever else about him, he returned well at this level when fit.
Links the play, decent in the air, and does have some (but not loads of) goals in him.

The Bladey stuff does help a bit too.

Always read these articles with a pinch of salt. Who does it benefit to release that article?

My guess is that we are in for someone else and we are trying to push their hand.
