Andre Brooks will tear you apart.......again

Brooks continues to confuse me as a player. I think that he has been one of our better performers so far without convincing me that he can take his game to a higher level. It’s interesting that there isn’t any transfer speculation about him. Are scouts seeing something that is missing from his game?
I like Brooks very good young player & still developing ..but if there’s one area he really needs to work on it’s the final ball , his effort & workrate is second to none , gets himself into good positions but often just lacks that bit of composure . Still young & doing very well though ⚔️

Agreed but that will come the more he plays
Hopefully anyway
Same with rak sakyi
Same as Arblaster will learn how to cover the full backs and protect his back line

Final ball and the ability to shoot his dribbling is levels above the rest of his game.

Wait until he starts bending them into bottom corner when he cuts back inside. His value will rocket
Tried one against Norwich exactly like that which was blocked. But you could tell he knew it was a good one by his reaction. I think it’ll come. He doesn’t look a natural goal scorer but wouldn’t be surprised if gets 5 goals and 5 assists this season. Which would be excellent for his age.

His dribbling has been a revelation in the last few games. Didn’t know that was in his locker. He’s always had nice technique and you can tell he’s got a good football brain because his positioning is excellent. Just a touch too slow in his decision making at the moment and perhaps lacks some confidence / conviction. Hopefully that will come with time and experience of bossing a few games in the champ.

Just wondering, have we ever sent him out on loan (either to non league or EFL) or has he just come into our team (a few appearences in our last promotion season) without going out on loan first.

He went on loan to Bradford park avenue in 2022, was only there for just over a month and played 7 games for them and we recalled him, he made his debut for us about a month later as a sub against VKB, aka Vincent Kompanys Burnley.

He’s going to be some player when he irons a few things out.

brooks is getting better with every game the shirt is his to lose and do think the arrival of rak-saki has driven him on to better performances definetly has the look of saka about him cutting in from the right

He’s a right talent.

He’s getting better game after game after the little premier league slump which was hardly surprising given his age and how demoralising it was for everyone getting shat on every week.

He seems to have the better of every wing back he’s faced so far in a 1v1 situation

He just needs to sort that final bit of decision making out. Does he get head up and pass or shoot just half a second sooner. It’ll come though and then he’ll be an absolute baller

A master stroke switching him to the right.

I always thought on the left he looked a bit languid and slowed the game down too much.

As others have said a bit of work needed on the decision making and should be some player

As a long time watcher of him in the academy with arblaster et al. I cannot properly describe how good of a player tgis lad can become he reminds me of a raw bukayo saka and to top it off is a childhood blade just like Arblaster. ⚔️😍
Bumping, has had alot of stick in recent times, but the ceiling this lad has is atmospheric hope to see him thrive further in this RW position will help to get some competition for that area as well. ⚔️😍

Mistake from last season not simply rotating Rak-Sakyi and Brooks, we ended up in a situation where BBD & Brewster were getting games on the right over them, made no sense. Brooks will be the starter this year though and looks set for a big season, he is well suited to this system. Seriki, O’Hare and Brooks down that right side looks promising.

Don't be surprised to see some of tte younger players take it up a level under selles
Not a dig at wilder but it's Ruben's speciality and modern players really restond to being coached this way

Look at what rohl got out of the shite in south Barnsley
Always been a fan of brooks but he had as many bad games as good but I think this rile in tge side will really suit him ,he presses well has bags of ability and just needs the confidence to step up now and kick on

Must be working hard in training for Selles instead of tossing it off like he was for Wilder. Weird decision last season to drop him every time he did anything good.

This doesn't reasonate with me.
I thought Brooks came out of the side when he did poorly, went back in when an opportunity presented itself and stayed in when he took it.

There was a brief period where we persisted with an out of form BBD when I thought Brooks could have come in earlier, but not as bad as you're saying.

The bit that has seemed to be missing from Brooks game (& JRS's) was a bit of extra grit / determination. Everything seemed quite languid.
Both players have the ability to affect games, they need to impose themselves more.

I remember him scoring or coming on and influencing games, then being back on the bench for the next game on at least one occasion. If JRS was tearing it up then fair enough, but he wasn’t and Brooks is a long term, contracted player who we should be developing.

I may be wrong though.

Brooks looks a different player under Selles. TBH, they all do. Nothing against CW as I thought he was a good manager but you can tell the huge difference in tactical nuance between the two.

And very little pass back, pass square, pass to the GK so far, which is very encouraging.

We need a couple of defensive and midfield players but the early signs of a more dynamic approach to the game is eye-catching.

Not quite the same as "tossing it off as he was under Wilder". I wish people would think before they post and show some respect...

Time will tell but looking at last season as a whole, I don’t see JRS and Brooks as being wildly apart in terms of their development and potential.

As our filthy parachute lucre ebbs away, there’s absolutely no justification for another young loanee in Brooks’ position this season.

Forget his goal what impressed me most was a cross field pass that in the end didn't come to much.

His dribbling was never in doubt it's the rest of his game that needs improving. In an ideal world he would have been in league one for a year learning how to dominate like he did at times today

Agree. I think this happened more than once which left us scratching our heads. Good luck to the kid.

Shout out to Cannon as well on left. On,y player looking like they’re struggling is Moore, just not fast enough, can’t use ball at feet and no awareness of players around him.

Biggest problem we will have with youngsters is holding onto Brooks, Oné and possibly Seriki come January. Expect Leeds to be all over them.

In both preseason games, Moore has replicated his disastrous pass to nobody that resulted in Sunderland’s winner. I suspect he is having Vietnam-style flashbacks as it keeps happening. Seems woefully short on confidence, which makes his lack of technical ability really stand out.

One of Moores biggest flaws, has always been his lack of awareness of teammates positions when in possession, which is absolutely inexcusable for a player of his experience? 🤨

Rak-Sakyi got dropped after he scored that excellent brace at home, too.

Very odd behaviour.

One will end up at a Liverpool type
