The Blackman sale demonstrated unbelievably poor football judgement. It was peak Tinpot United. We were a limited team, and Blackman wasn't outstanding, but he was enough to get us up that season, as our one and only outlet. He was also on an upward trajectory with his form, as he proved after signing for Reading

Add Miller staying fit to keeping Blackman, and we would have won the league

Yes it did

Obviously a typo but it definitely printed it quantity before quality

I would hope the Star have got their Q’s mixed up?

“Ruben Selles is hopeful that Sheffield United can supplement their squad with a couple of extra players in the next fortnight, despite insisting that the focus remains on quantity rather than quality in the transfer market.”

Hopefully 2 more next couple of weeks?

The Star have since corrected their error
Not what I read it said qualify before quantity

One way of looking at things is that if we are a bit financially strapped by selling Vini we have a bit more time to hold out for a decent price for Gus not the usual sell at all costs for the usually United knock down price.

Having listened to Selles it appears that the Souza sale was agreed soon after the season ended and can only assume that we agreed to let him go if we did not go up.
Not sure if a need for money came into it

We haven’t been selling at knock down prices since McCabe left.

He wanted to leave last summer but was persuaded to stay.

I personally couldn't care less if he did go
He is as responsible as the mental fragility in that side last season as anyone, always looking for a way out ,lazy ,unfit

Great player but I wouldn't shed a tear if him or any others leave

I dont think he will and I dont think.he wants to unless he has found tge training a bit too much like hard work and is looking for a way out I dont think he is pining for the tulip fields
I read him the same way Frank.
He's lazy.
He can't be arsed to shift some weight , stop the childish revenge tackles & bookings and fulfil his potential to become a top top player.
He's content with coasting along at the Lane , knowing he's undroppable.
Due to occasional match winning brilliance.
Would never survive with that attitude in the PL.
Take the money but maximise it.

Hamer not fit to lace their boots
Martin Smith
Jan Aage Fjortoft
Nick Blackman
James Beattie

They were all massive losses when sold, all integral to our play and scoring goals. Hamer would also be a massive loss, but as a midfielder, replaceable. Losing Campbell at this point would be worse.

Sloppy sloppy standards , like most everything these days.
The beautiful English language is being butchered all over the place and it's a travesty.
If you don't understand my lament , go and listen to the speeches of Winston Churchill for endless pleasure from his oratory.
Goodness knows what low standard of English qualifies one as a journalist these days.
And as for proof-reading ....

He and his agent played us.
I'll forgive that though mate, seeing as he almost single-handedly saved our club from being in the deepest of deep shit! Had we not gone up that season with Iliman on fire and received the PL riches that accompanied it, fuck knows where we'd be now! It must have been hard for him to see players like Brewster (not his fault btw) on the money he was on, with Ili being on a fraction.

It broke my heart when he left but I don't blame him one jot - even the way it transpired in the end. Gutting for us, yes, but the lad deserved to (rightly or wrongly) choose his own destiny.

McCabe flogging James Beattie and Nick Blackman at ridiculously idiotic moments were pretty traumatic to me too.

As was needlessly shoehorning Walker into the Naughton deal.

He had some pros (investment into club infrastructure), but he was atrocious at the football side.
The reverse of the Prince.
3 unbelievable decisions. There was no downside whatsoever to keeping Beattie and Blackman until the summer in both cases. The fee for Beattie was pathetic and he didn't want to go. We would easily have got the same money in the summer. Missed out on promotion on the last day. Blackman very similar probably cost us promotion. Those 2 and letting Blackwell have all summer only to sack him after 2 games probably cost us 2 promotions and got us relegated. Terrible from a football and business sense.

Interesting article on the Athletic about "Lost transfer fees" which in a lot of cases is selling way too early. Of course we make the cut 😄

Us and Hull being penalised for the same Maguire transfer by the looks of it.
Maguire left us in 2014, he shouldn't be included in ours. If he is included then it's only the Hull to Leicester element.

Looking into it, ours should be £42m, not £97m.
Ché Adams £13m (£15m Birmingham to Southampton less £2m from us to Birmingham)
Aaron Ramsdale £16m (£16.75m Bournemouth to United less £800k United to Bournemouth)
Sander Berge £10m (£25m Burnley to Fulham less £15m United to Burnley)

I suppose if they're looking at the subsequent transfer being after 2015 then they'll be including:
Harry Maguire £15m (£17.5m Hull to Leicester less £2.5m United to Hull)
Kyle Walker £46m (£49m Tottenham to Man City less £3m United to Tottenham)

Ye the Walker one is the big difference in ours. Birmingham's is basically all down to Bellingham. Walker was the one we genuinely did cost ourselves a lot more money by not waiting even a season for him to show how good he was.

We literally had to sell, (as did Hull & Birmingham) to keep the club afloat. No shame in that.

3. try to write with some command of the English language which gives pleasure to your reader.

4.have your article proof-read before splattering it onto the internet , containing mistakes which render its meaning either indecipherable or the exact opposite of what you intended to say.
