Gents,

I'm sure this is elsewhere but can't spot it amidst the numerous Wembley themed posts.

I'll be flying into Heathrow from Aberdeen in the morning, wondering where I should head prior to the game?

Had a good time at the Green Door prior to Huddersfield but I have heard we are on the opposite side of the ground this time out. Must be a good omen.

UTB

the Green Man is actually on that side.. i remember having to walk past the huddersfield end on the way there.. 'dirty blue and white b*stards' (white stripes) and all that

Ah, I cant remember a great deal other than not the best game I've seen.

Ok then I'll probably head to the Green Man(not door as stated on OP) if others are.

Cheers, UTB.

Scots,

How you planning on getting from Heathrow down to Wembley? I'm on a stag do in Prague and considering flying into Heathrow on the Sunday

We are parking on private drives about 250 yards from the Green Man so will head there for a pre match celebration.

We should all wear home made Avitar or S24AU badges

I shall be wearing my lucky S24SU Beard Tee - available at all good forum stores (so- that means only this one)
Probably in the Green Man - or more accurately on the drive at the Green Man cos you can't shift in there.

Ken Jnr will probably be playing togga for Warwick that AM so I hope we get there in time for some libation, pre match

Chaps - it you're planning Heathrow to Wembley by tube, take the Piccadilly line from the airport towards Uxbridge. Change at Rayners Lane for the Metropolitan line and it's five stops to Wembley Park.

Hope this helps.

Cheer Blackheath, top man.

How long you reckon it takes on tube from Heathrow to Wembley roughly?

Any ideas where I could potentially store a suitcase aswell?! That's my other major problem!

No worries f_b.

I'd allow about an hour to be fair. The great thing about the tube is that there's always a plan B if plan A goes shit shaped.

The turd in the waterpipe at weekends is track closures for maintainance work. These are published approx a week in advance so alternate routes can be arranged, although the staff on duty at each station are very knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction if asked.

As regards the suitcase, it might be worth checking out on the Heathrow website if they do a left luggage service?

If I'm lucky enough to bag a ticket in the public sale (if there is one) I'll be at the Green Man.

Been there before and it was tip top.

Scotsno1, If you've got a spare, I'm yer man. Scot's thegither, ken fit ah mean?

Let's hope it's not raining or else the Green Man will get a wee bit cramped!

Don't forget, we're about six weeks earlier than "usual".

Green Man for us too, our driver has sorted out a parking space either at the Green Man or just nearby. Will the traffic be unpassable that close to Wembley? meaning we'd have to get there extra early just to get to the parking space?

The Green Man is going to be featured in next Thursday's "The Hotel Inspector" if anyone's interested.

You would think it should be a license to print money owning a large pub/hotel near Wembley but apparently not.

I saw the preview at the end of last night's programme and wondered if that was one and the same!

Stanmoor, then tube to Wembley.

In 2009 in particular we brought Stanmore to a complete stand still. Blades as far as the eye can see all along the main road.

We set off for the tube quite late and the carnage up and down the street looked like something out of 28 Days Later. The supermarket across from the Wetherspoons completety sold out of ale.

We are going from Donny to Kings Cross, as most of you know if you go from Sheffield you go to St. Pancake, the 2 stations are at the side of each other. We always get the Northern Line to Camden Town and its absolutely marvellous, loadsa pubs, great part of London, great scranny all over the place, and easy to get to wembley once you leave, although i would give 1-hour. Last year we stopped en-route at baker street at the Globe and the Wetherspoons, not a patch on Camden town.

If you get to Camden then walk up the High street to Camden Lock and go in the Wetherspoons (Wharfe Ice), thats where we will start then we will walk back to the tube via many bars probably ending in either the Camden Eye or the Worlds End.

You can get a boat from Camden Lock to the corner of Baker street and the Globe via Regents park, its an experience.

There are several Green Man hostelries around London - this is what she said about the one she went to which I presume must be one and the same. Is anybody staying there?

In the new series, she encounters a hotel at the top of the revolting charts. “This is only the second time that I’ve refused to stay somewhere,” explains Polizzi, now in her eighth series of the show.

“I felt very unsafe," she says, of The Green Man in Wembley. "And I have rarely seen more depressing rooms in my life. The wallpaper was literally peeling off. There were hand marks all over the walls. Plus cracks everywhere, and torn netting at the windows. It’s as bad as I’ve ever seen."

Polizzi usually has to stay in a hotel to experience everything a guest would. "Usually, come hell or high water, I stay,” she says. “The last resort is for me to refuse to stay."

The Green Man owner argues that people get what they pay for. "I think that’s such a crap attitude," says Polizzi, "and I told [the owner] so. I mean, why would you offer a s**t experience for 30 quid? Okay fine, they don’t expect The Ritz or even a Travelodge, but they can expect somewhere that is clean and decent. It was like a dog’s bed. It was really foul."

Lads,

We went for the club Wembley seats to avoid the potential of not getting a ticket in the general sale, now going down on the Saturday evening so will make our way across from Euston in the morning.

Jaggy, good luck in the general sale... we should start a club North of the border... Clan Scougall are regulars at the lane now I hear.

Parking space booked, Probably head for the Green Man, it is the Blades lucky Wembley Pub after all!!!

Are Club Wembley seats on sale for the match now - presumably from Club Wembley? How much please?
