Yet to see anything concrete about him, but it's a sad situation all around.
I don't want to spark up another fucking pointless argument around Brewster on here, as there have been more than enough already, but I think he'd do well under Selles. A change in approach would likely spark him into life, which I reckon will probably happen if/when he signs for someone else.
He's had an excess of injury troubles, at a club which has had moderate to severe injury crises in the time Brewster has been here. I wonder if some of his issues have been exacerbated by the environment he's been expected to train/play in.
He's not played well, admittedly. However, for about half of the time he's been here, the club hasn't played well at all (both PL seasons were dire, plus the time Slav was in charge, we weren't pulling any trees up). Had we been experiencing more consistently positive performances on the pitch, maybe he would have had the opportunity to flourish.
As far as the transfer fee goes, we certainly have not gotten the expected return on investment. That said, I think it was foolish to go spending roughly 20 million quid on a striker with half a season of success at Championship level, and anticipate said player smashing the Premier League.
Brewster's time has been a perfect storm of bad luck and poor decisions, by those responsible for him signing in the first place, for those responsible for coaching him, for those responsible for his physical wellbeing, and by Brewster himself.
If this is the time where he and the club part ways, I thoroughly hope he finds success elsewhere. He's not a bad person - it just seems that things were not meant to work out for him here.
I'll certainly remember who put the ball in the Wednesday net though.
