So, what's the reason for all the quietness?

Completely relaxed about no transfer business, it’s never caught us out before…

Thoroughly redundant comparison.

We're not in the PL.
We're not preparing for a season of certain relegation.
We're not going to be scraping pennies together to ensure a profit.
We've not got a player in the last year of his contract, who is the best player in the squad by a country mile, that we're forced into selling.

Even if we signed nobody this summer, we'd still be better equipped for the upcoming season than we were for the PL under Hecky.

I wasn’t being entirely serious, but fundamentally I can understand people’s concerns of history repeating itself.

Fair enough. However, your mention of history repeating itself gave me cause to notice something else.

toledo it looks like you were 2 days late this year with this post:

So far nobody has gone that we don't want to lose. Assuming Souza is off if we managed to keep everyone else that would be a pretty good window. We will spend some of the Vini fee on another midfielder but if that's the only signing and we loan 6 players (I know only 5 can be in the matchday squad) wed be in good shape.

We need 2 centre backs (Phillips, Holding), a right back, a centre forward and 2 wingers.

It does worry you when you read of all these players were interested in, going elsewhere, probably newspaper talk.
Guess it’s a waiting game until the manager knows who will fit in his system of play. Would have thought after a week or two he would have a better picture.

1. New owners keeping things tighter than the last and not using others', on side, accounts to communicate with us indirectly
2. Danny & Alan Biggs not being fed by former sources?
3. The Wilder noise has died down

I quite like it. Almost old school.

Tell 'em nothing until we've got something tell 'em.

Quietness? We’ve just been in our first butting of heads with Birmingham City…but unfortunately we lost.
It seems they are going to be in for many of the players we are after…It maybe be a frustrating summer Blades.

Saving $$$$ the longer you leave it to sign anyone the less you pay in wages.

If we signed four players all on wages of 30k per week today, compared to say signing the same players in 2 weeks time the owners would save 240k.......thanks to Martin Lewis @ Moneysavingexpert.

It's because we're accustomed to a 24 hour cycle of rumours (be it bollocks or credible) 24 hour news cycles and the ability to follow the club's every move through social media etc.

Leaves people demanding instant news before anything has been decided.
It’s remarkable how little has come out from the usual journos since Sir Chris was moved out.

Who were we after?

No we weren't at all it was a smoke screen for other targets we had no intention of a bidding war
I don’t think it was a “smoke screen.” I think we’ve just set our financial limits and probably won’t exceed them.

We don't have much money to spend and spent £10m on a lower league striker only a few months ago.
Unless and until we sell doubt we'll be doing much.

Made up stuff, in other words. That’s ok, we’ve had plenty of other posters who try to pass stuff off as fact when it isn’t. They don’t get taken very seriously.
Well, it’s all speculation till it happens

Selles needs to assess the squad, just bare in mind that he's going to have a totally different mind set as to how we set up , he'll know we definitely need 1/2 centre halves as that's where for me wilder let us down !!
The squad is set up atm is enough to put a strong 11 out ( if everyone is fit and stays )
Cooper
Seriki anel baptiste burrows ( I think young baptiste could have a real break out season)
Souza blaster
Ohare hamer brooks
Campbell

Plus the others , we haven't got that bad a squad .
Please feel free to replace with any of the others with who you think would do a better job .

Half centre halves? Would that be centre quarters?

All seriousness though, I'd imagine he'll have already asked for recruitment folks to be providing recommendations at CB, as well as wingers. We already knew defenders were needed, and now he's said we'll be playing with wingers, it'd be pretty damn handy if we actually had some!

Agree, but I think honestly burrows played with one eye over his shoulder when jlt was behind him , bit of a personal watch but when holding was on for (what little time he had ) he seemed to be a little more free to support the attack.
