Must have missed that bit about ' not being backed substantially " 🤔

You have a perfectly valid point, apart from the fact that we’ll now likely have at best the 4th biggest wage budget in the league and if we sell the likes of Hamer and Souza then we’ll have lost a couple of our better players. But if it makes you cry less about Wilder leaving then knock yourself out.
Thank you, not fussed about Wilder leaving (other than the success he has brought us). You're not telling me it's not the anti-Wilder brigade trying to create low aspirations for next year though!

They will have set whatever targets they have set. That’s between them & Selles. But we are embarking on a major overhaul of how all aspects of the club operate. This will take time and I suggest that there might be various targets beyond just league position. I think they will be happy with making the playoffs next season. But I accept that those unable to think in anything other than a linear fashion will struggle with that, and that’s fine.

That has nothing to do with anti Wilder sentiment. That would be pointless because he’s gone. It’s also a lazy thing to say. It has a lot to do with wanting to see fundamental reform and modernisation of the club, and that is likely to take more than one season.
Uhm, ok! I was simply stating facts and recognising that some are looking to seek to put low expectations in place for next season. Just not going to wash no matter how much AI is involved but hey, rock on.

How does any Blade benefit from the club performing poorly next season? Might it just be that others aren’t as binary in their opinion and can see that when changing the way that the team plays and the club is run it may take a bit of time to achieve the end goal?

It’ll soon get boring next season with all the Wilderites telling people how much better he was than Selles.

Was pro Wilder but what's done is done. I'm still expecting top 6 in our last season of parachute payments otherwise what was the point of getting rid?
Have a concern over the all action pressing style, mainly the increased risk of injuries, think Hecky and Ange, and generally fading through burnout towards the latter part of the season like a previous Leeds side.
Hope I'm wrong and we can can crack on.

Problem is people thinking others are Wilderites. I’m sorry he’s gone because he’s been successful. I hope Selles is successful and I’ll back him as I would any manager from day one but we are dumping success so the next step must be promotion.
Thing is, if he isn’t as good as Wilder, why wouldn’t fans say it?

I agree, it’s as big a problem as people, including you, assuming that all people getting behind the changes are Wilder haters. You’ve flung that one around quite a bit recently.

There’s nothing wrong with people expressing an opinion that Selles isn’t as good as Wilder. But I will be waiting a few months to see what actually happens before making any judgement on that.

There are parallels to the Slav appointment here…. New ideas into an embedded successful side

So How does Selles avoid doing a Slav?

hopefully selles being appointed now and presumably with owners who will actually let him sign some players to fit his system / ideas would help. Slav was really hung out to dry by the princes finances and given essentially an over the hill 3-5-2 squad

The reinforcements are signed quickly so that he gets a preseason with the squad (didn’t really have one at reading with the chaos, and didn’t have one with hull) to get his ideas across. A slow / poor start will have calls for his head before September. So it’s key the preseason is used to get how he wants to play across. (I’d even consider extra behind closed doors games.)

The gaps in the squad (RB, AM, CB, Wingers) are all filled with players suitable for top end championship - rather than just Bulgarian Yoots.

I Would have definitely kept wilder for this season, but given its happened I am at least cautiously curious about how it’s going to look. With the gap to the PL we may never be an established PL club so we may as well enjoy the football we’re playing.

The defensive record at Hull (4th best I believe) combined with some good attacking results including smashing us - means I can at least hope to see a style that with better players could be effective AND entertaining.
What Slav also did was break the 'Wilder mode' someone so different we couldn't truly judge him against Chris. This has the same feeling to me. A Sean Dyche - even if his stats, tactics and signings are an improvement - the optics would be "he's another Wilder, we should have just kept Wilder."
I hope Selles succeeds, at worst he's a buffer between Wilder and the next manager, even if it's Sean Dyche.

Apologies, just responding to a post that clearly indicated that!
Also stated my support for Selles so if that’s an issue so be it.

Making a prediction at this time of year is difficult, have to wait and see for a few weeks to see what players are coming in and out and of course the same with the other clubs expecting to do well.

However you would expect top 6 has to be the basic aim.

If he does a bad job I’m fairly sure everyone will say it.

I'm looking forward to this season more than I have for a while. I'm hoping we'll see attacking football. Last season we scraped fortune wins playing extremely boring football. I'm hoping it'll be more entertaining under Selles, but we'll see.

We missed a great chance to go up last year,l in a weaker league than this next one through not having a system and poor coaching not getting the best out of the talent we have, that could cost us with players leaving too. Top 2 is possible, but ias long as we finish well up there and play better I'd be happy tbh, I see this as a 2 year project a rebuilding project

Top two or he won’t be here to see the end of the season.

He’s got a squad that finished 3rd with loads of quality for the level, he’ll be back heavily by the board to strengthen. He’s got to get automatics.
You're probably right I think a lot depends on if we get the recruitment right for the positions we need filling.
2/3 centre halves ( I don't think JLT will be anywhere near the first team unless they sniper returns )
Midfielder to fill in if peck goes
2/3 wingers ,forward thinking attacking players
Total of 7 must all be quality enough to start
If I'm really being honest a good back up keeper

If ( and it's a big if ) we can keep the players from last season we could actually hit top 2

Yep, Leeds and Burnley were rubbish weren’t they 😂.

We're in an infinitely stronger position than the start of last season with Cooper, Burrows, Campbell, Peck and Seriki bedded in and Souza performing brilliantly. Hopefully Arblaster and T Davies making big contributions too. Add two or three to the amazing foundations we have, and all the above - and the much weaker competition we'll face at the top in a much weaker league - and it can only be objectively be concluded that we should be massive favourites for the title. I expect that we'll achieve that.

When the season starts, can the name wilder be banned from this forum please !
Kind of agree but never going to happen not least because of the section of fans who could stomach his return and never let it go! Think this one will run for a while.
