I've noticed in recent years a modern Internet football speak that's more focused on the process than actual results which is what the end goal should be based on.

We are seemingly getting rid of Wilder for a process that we have no idea will work or not. It's a huge gamble and the board have put their neck on the line with regards to it.

Lets hope it pays off as if it doesn't it'll be a far more toxic fall out than any blade would want. A poor start and he won't be given a chance.

On the flip side we've also had a culture who accept, tolerate and defend mediocrity and sub-par performances because they see the result as the be all and end all.

I'd personally rather watch a good game of football which I enjoyed where we lost, than give up two hours to watch a scrappy, disjointed sack of crap where we won which I didn't enjoy watching.

I have no real opinion of him specifically, but I like the idea of appointing someone like him. Shows these owners are trying to instill a somewhat modern philosophy. If they were after someone like Dyche that would be more fightening to me.
I don't understand this way of thinking. Dyche is a manager with a great track record at Championship level and proved himself as a more than capable premier League manager over a number of years.

Selles sounds like an interesting appointment and I'm intrigued to see what happens but I don't know why he'd be a modern appointment and Dyche would be frightening. There are multiple ways to be successful and one is not necessarily better than the other.

This is a really insightful read on Selles' upbringing in football and his first full season at Reading. Makes for an exciting season looking at his philosophy imo!

Aside from beating us at the lane, what success has this lad had? I'll be honest, I don't get it.
Depends what you'd measure as success I suppose.

He's still young (42) and short on experience in management, but has worked all over Europe in the coaching side for years before that.

One of those, never really made it as a player so made the move into coaching types.

He really proved himself in his stint at Reading (they made Pigs look like a well run club) and probably couldn't say no to Hull when they came calling.

Had some of his best players sold at Reading and unable to reinvest but still made the most of it, such as Azeez to Millwall last summer.

I’m willing to look at the circumstances of his previous jobs and why they might not have worked out. Bit like Hecky at Hibs and Leeds.

That's a fantastic read.

When can he start?

The landscape has changed a lot since Dyche had some actual success though. He also strikes me as someone who's unwilling (or incapable) to adapt if things don't go as planned.
I also get the feeling he's not liked very much by his players. Everton turned it around immediately under Moyes.

You can have all the footballing philosophies in the world, it doesn't make you a good manager and doing alright for a bit at Reading does not make you a manager that's going to win us promotion

This is about as underwhelming as it could get

They were bottom when he took over.

Over the course of his time there he had them 12th.
As someone else pointed out, Hull conceded the 4th least goals during his time. Only the top 3 conceded less.

What a failure.
Stop trying to do the mental gymnastics to turn this guy into the bloke who will take us onwards and upwards.

He won't

I mean I am slightly happier it's him than O'Neill...

Vamos Ruben! 🇪🇸

Why was he sacked?

What situation did he inherit?

The fact that you're not basing this opinion on any facts or with any context is just ridiculous
Got one in our group chat who's the same

A high percentage of blades fans hate change. It's one of the reasons why we never progress as a club.

Doom & gloom merchants. Like the donkey off Winnie the Pooh

Mental, absolutely mental.

Will be the last to apologise as well if it works.

Just don't get why there's any need to be critical when he genuinely looks like an intriguing, talented manager

I'm really excited by this
I think he is exactly what we need
I see it like a Championship version of wenger following graham at arsenal where all the fundamentals are there ( except for a few defenders ) now it needs a bit of va va voom
