So you really think that a bloke who has never managed in the Championship, has only managed for a couple of seasons altogether and has been sacked from his two other jobs is better-equipped to get us promoted than Wilder?

Or could it just be that you dislike Wilder so much that you'd take anyone as long as we sack him?
I’m on record several times on here saying that I admire Wilder’s first 4 years and that, based on that, I consider him to be a Blades legend. This is despite disliking him as a person and a figurehead for our club. I recognise and applaud him for his past achievements.

I have also said that the game has moved very quickly on from him (and quite a few others) over the last 5 years and, despite last season (and actually partly because of last season), I stand by that.

So yes, I regard GON as currently a better manager than CW, and one who is likely to continue to improve. GON also played a major part in a championship promotion working with Scott Parker at Bournemouth and subsequently kept them up, so it is false to say he lacks championship experience.

On the other hand, you’re beginning to look a bit of a straw man. You throw a few statistics from the past around as if they are somehow conclusive and then it bites you on the arse in a way that makes you look silly (the respective PL records).

Could it be that you are a reactionary who is so terrified of life without Wilder that you refuse to countenance anything else?

Do you really belive swapping Osula for Moore, was "widely accepted as good business"? Jeez ( no, I know, I've spelt Jesus incorrectly Mr Pedant).
Again I dont know if you are doing it on purpose or are just suffering from.amneaia but we didn't swap osula for Moore
We swapped osula ,traore ,trusty etc for a new team

And it was universally applauded as great business with some content creators actually laughing about it and wednesday fans accusing us of being in collusion with Newcastle Arab owners as the fee seemed so high it must have been corrupt

Now personally I didn't share these views and wished we had kept him but I was a lone voice against popular opinion.

We sold a brilliant young striker for £9m and Wilder bought a bit of a carthorse for £10m. Spin it however you like vis a vis, as to what the overall squad strategem was. Thems the facts. Those facts hurt us and cost us.

They are not the facts and you're the only one spinning this fella

You've conveniently missed about £10,000,000 from that "swap".

That aside, Osula hadn't scored a single league goal for us, so most people thought it was good business.

The difference between the price we received for Osula (£10-15m) and paid out for Moore (about £1m).
Yep, sorry, I'm confusing him with Cannon. So easy to get these carthorses mixed up- cheers mate

Any manager is a gamble, look at Emery and Arsenal, didn't fit. Goes to Villa and he's a world beater.

We could bring in Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti and they get us relegated. All a calculated risk but I have serious doubts Wilder will get us up now. I think fresh impetus and ideas are what we need. The squad we have isn't linearly suited to just one style. We have versatile players.

Whatever happens, if a new manager is installed get him in quick so he actually has time to implement his ideas.

I would have liked Osula to have stayed but even now he hasn't developed enough to be a regular scorer. I don't think Osula and Moore can be linked together as pieces of business. Osula (and his agent) would probably been very upset if we had blocked the transfer and this for a player who had never scored a goal above league one
Moore wasn't his replacement but I think was a poor piece if business. He really has never been much above a lower half Championship striker at best, a bit like Robinson has never been more than a lower half Championship defender.
I think now that Wilder must go as it is becoming obvious that he does not enjoy full support from the owners and it looks like Gary O'Neil with his previous connections with Des Taylor is being moved in as his replacement.
Whilst I do think CW has now run out of road through a combination of a bad January window, negative tactics, bizarre tactical decisions and embarrassing behaviour, I don't personally see O'Neil as an upgrade.

His comments about DoF related to Wilders situation and the belief at the time that Wilders way was THE way. And under different ownership. There’s nothing in the article that he’s anti the position and common sense would suggest that his elevation to the board wouldn’t have happened if he was directly opposed to the thinking of the new owners.

What makes you think he was ever in charge of football matters, ie identifying players?
Not surprisingly you haven't commented on the majority of points I have raised. You state that I think Bettis was in charge of footballing matters including identifying players. Specsavers appointment required. I haven't said that anywhere in the post. Yes you have got the same Star article I am aware of stating the club's negative policy, at the time, regarding having a Director of Football, he made that statement as the CEO of club. One may take it that Princey didn't want a DofF and/or didn't want to fund one. So regarding Bettis's responsibilities and accountability do you have a copy of his job description or are you a mind reader.

I have had numerous years in higher management within a large multi national company, then took early retirement to set my own successful company up. So I do have plenty of experience with "company strategies" and their implementation. Job descriptions were always one of my hot topics to ensure people were completely aware of their responsibilities and accountability.

As the CEO I would expect Mr Bettis to be incharge of overall running of the club and then delegate various management tasks down the management chain as per the club strategy. Not the "Strategy according to Chris, my mate, Wilder". We are not Alfeton Town, Halifax Town, Oxford United or Northampton Town. Mmmm do we even have a club strategy ??? Do we yet fully know the "thinking" of the new owners, I think not???

As CEO, allegedly with his finger on the pulse, he should be looking for ways to move the club forward from being a "big city football club with a small town mentality". He should be overseeing development, including new pathways like adopting the Director of Football/Sporting Director role into a "real club strategy" like the vast number of top level clubs in the UK and Europe have been doing for years. He should have been doing that even under the previous ownership. Then again under the previous ownership was he a "yes man" or when good old Chris Wilder sneaked his way back into the club was there a secret agreement with Princey not to have Director of Football because he doesn't want to work with or under one, suppose we'll never know. My present wife, before we met, worked and lived in Saudi and is more than aware of some of the dodgy dealings that go on. Could it be that Mr Bettis us now wearing an American "yes man" suit instead of a Saudi "yes man" suit?

Other things Bettis should take on board are identifying more opportunities for revenue generation i.e. improved commercial planning, fan engagement, improvement in infrastructure i.e. stadium and facilities and brand enhancement to name a few.

Basically it's time to join the "real world".

A good management strategy and subsequent success relies on transparency and top class communication and an end to the continuous "secret squirrel" garbage the club has been very good at for many years, who ever the owners.

I dare say I'm wasting my breath as "denial" is the name of the game and everything at the Lane is rosey apparently!!!

“ l would ask what top flight, serious, modern football era experience does he offer”

Daniel Levy didn’t have any football experience when he teamed up with Joe Lewis.

But It’s more about you now than Bettis isn’t it?

As a historical “look at me cv” it’s rather spoiled by the cliches, Specsavers etc.

If you can't come up with something realistic and sensible it's no good getting mardy with me love. Like many others on here recently you go digging around further and further in the past to justify the present set up at OUR club. Also if you read people's posts clearly you would understand them better and not get your Y fronts in a tangle. Night night sleep tight.

Mardy, love, y fronts, night night. 😄

Are you sure you were a commercial powerhouse? The cliches dont really fit a man of that calibre. Grow up you silly old duffer. This isn’t Teenage Facebook

I’ve heard a rumour about a meeting tomorrow. I can’t see how removing the best remaining championship manager statistically is a good thing though. I’d rather keep the gang together, have a good window and continue to improve personally. Really we over achieved last year, complete overhaul, blended some youth to good effect, managed our way through a lot of tight games, broke records. It was a hell of a good job really.

One looks the part, One is the part, One is the Past!
Say no more !

FFS it's like a children's playground sometimes.

Why is everything amplified beyond reality , to some Wilder is the second coming , to others he's the devil incarnate...he's neither , nor are the owners or anyone else
Its a fucking football club not life n death , have an opinion by all means but in the real world it's just some multi millionaires spending money on other millionaires, nobody dies in the end.

UTB .

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but... we all die in the end.

Choosing the right footy team to support (or how the one you support is run) will determine how much you enjoy life before the end though.

Fuck.

Yes,
And football before Sky was football that we all loved, and agreed with what Shankly said about football !

How much influence will the players have in this scenario?
They must have been asked for their thoughts, it's okay to remove
one person, but if that means many others follow, what would happen?
The coaching staff too?
