Outgoing? Chris Wilder

There's an interview with Wilder somewhere saying he put a presentation to the board about signing Cannon. If you listen to his interview post signing on the official YouTube channel, he also says Cannon was someone he and the board both agreed on.

I think in that same interview he says that he signed Cannon to get more pace in the attack... which genuinely makes me wonder if Wilder knows what the word "pace" means.

Bettis - “Chris [Wilder] highlighted four positions he wanted to strengthen, and those were filled by Ben Brereton Diaz, Hamza Choudhury, Harry Clarke, and Rob Holding. Then there was a fifth in Tom Cannon, who wasn’t a priority initially but was someone Chris wanted since the summer.”

Wilder - “Cannon is someone we’ve tracked for a while and is a signing which ticked all the boxes with everyone involved in the process. It's a super signing for us. Somebody we have tracked for a long time and known about for a long time. He's a young hungry player, position specific, we needed someone who could play on the shoulder and stretch the game, which he does. As soon as we talked about our enthusiasm to get this done, speaking to the boy, he knows what we're all about, He knows the club are ambitious and I thank the board and the co-chairmen for the backing and support, not just with this signing, but the whole process of what we've been going through and how they've wanted to support me during the window. We're all on the same page with this signing. Great age, we believe he'll play a big part and hopefully a successful second part of this season and beyond as well. He can hopefully realise all his ambitions here with us and for me it is a really good signing."
I knew it was something along those lines, couldn't remember the actual interview.

But i read that quote as he wanted those 4 and cannon he didn't push and was a bonus signing.

Anybody wanting Wilder out is deluded. The club is where it is now, purely down to Wilder. 3rd division, for 6 years, under numerous managers. Wilder comes in, wheels and deals, gets us to 9th in the Premier and still people moan. Of course makes mistakes. Pep Guardiola makes mistakes, doesn't make him a bad manager. Be careful what you wish for ⚔️

They're not. They just aren't sheep.

9th in the prem was 5 years ago. Thats a fucking age in football.

Not sure if you've grasped the difference, but Ferguson retired, along time ago. He wasn't outed by a gutless board and short term memory set of fans 🤣⚔️
The last time we saw anything like the Wilder who got us 9th was a long time ago. That Wilder is gone.

It's also an irrelevant point. What we need is someone who can make the next step, that isn't 9th in the PL. That's promotion to and surviving in the PL.

Go on then, name a better option? 🤣⚔️

🤣 which of those two has had a team finish 9th or higher in the Premier? We all have opinions pal and I'm happy to discuss ⚔️
There’s no way Wilder gets us anywhere near 9th in the premier league ever again. That was an anomaly and I will be forever grateful, not saying O’Neil is the answer either. We’re at a crossroads I feel and whatever the decision is scary either way 😬 Never a dull moment being a Blade 🔴⚪⚔️

We instead have the Wilder who got 90+ points when having to rebuild the squad and for the first half we were really thin on numbers.

Any manager who can improve on that would have to do a bloody good job.

Ultimately didn't get promotion, that is the only thing that needs to be achieved.

If it’s between Wolsey or Gary ON keep Wilder… that would be too much f a culture change, Pashun to insipid l…
