New Manager ?

Id be very surprised if they get rid of Wilder.

Until that becomes a possibility don't see the point of speculation on who we could bring in.

That said, they may go the way of AI to bring a new one in when the time comes?

I think we're in a tricky position at the moment; if Wilder was to stay, could he get us back up near the top and even promoted? Quite possibly, but would we push on and flourish with him in the Premier League? I don't think so. So what do we do, stick with him grinding out results to get us promoted, which works in the Championship but with no structure or style of play to survive in the Premier League (much like the Heckingbottom promotion)? Or do we twist now and accept a season or 2 of rebuild with an obvious move to being more progressive as a club, with a style and structure to give us a better chance of survival if/when we do get there? It's a moot point anyway. The owners have indicated the sort of things they want to see and I really have my doubts Wilder is willing and able to go all in on embracing it all.

Our luck us pretty bad and we've shown we aren't play off capable. The PL is a complete shit show these days and being able to establish there is about as realistic as me winning the Danish Lottory.

Wilder could be off and personally I couldn't suggest a replacement but just for the fun couldn't we put a little rumour out that we are willing to pay the compo, plus expenses to Channers and that we want Rohl. I need a cheering up and that would be quite funny.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you but the Hecky style of play was vastly outweighed in impact on our chances by having to field Osborn and Basham in midfield. The owners can piss around with managers if they wish but the best thing they can spend their time on imo is get the funding in place to ‘do a Forest’ if and when we go up.

I could understand this question more if we’d actually got promoted. But as it stands I can’t see many better than Wilder to get another tune out of this team.

Dyche could get us up and keep us up for more than a season, at which point we look to make a change / improve the style.

I think it's just a general horses for courses approach in the Championship and then worry about next season when we get there that's the problem. There's no room for a bad run in the premier league, you can get away with it in the championship. I agree that regardless of approach, to have a chance of success you have to chuck a load of money at it. I just think with a better structure in place, we've more of a chance.

Hecky deserved a statue - next to Wilders

Is that a written rule somewhere? If so, I’ve missed it.
Good point actually

Southampton sacked NA after double promotions to bring in Potachino (think I’ve spelt that right. - but tbh it might be a type of mushroom 🍄🟫?)

Not so different to our current situation, is it. They sacked a manager who had been successful for them but who had clear limitations in terms of where they were wanting to be. They replaced him with a young, relatively unknown manager at the start of his journey and it was transformational for them until the wheels fell off a few managers down the line.

It was harsh on Adkins. Very harsh. But it was the right thing to do, Adkins was very well compensated for it, and sentiment can’t be allowed to get in the way of progress.

I think the biggest issue at the moment is that, as always, a lot of people are terrified of change. But that shouldn’t matter, the owners should do what they think they need to.
