Our chairman has two options, he calls you into his office and asks you to help him chose one;

  • Stick with CW, same recruitment strategy as last summer

  • Roll the dice, new manager and commit heavily to new recruitment strategy

Results are only viewable after voting.

I think one of the main priorities has to be to get us to a Cat 1 development club.
If we're serious about getting to the Premier League and staying there, we need to be looking at the examples of Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford to succeed.
I don't see why Wilder can't get us there, he already has that experience.
Whether he's the manager to maintain it in the Premier League is another matter.

Given the options available, I went with the 2nd one.

Regardless of our approach to the upcoming transfer window, I firmly believe it's more important to get a new manager in with fresh ideas. We have an excellent foundation to build on with the current squad, even accounting for the likely departures e.g. Hamer.

I want us to play at a higher tempo next season, putting other teams under more pressure, forcing more errors, and then punishing those errors more clinically. While there might be some change towards this sort if approach under Wilder, I'm doubtful, given how he's gotten us to play in 2 separate spells in charge, that we would become the type of side I'd love us to become.

I just wish he could come up with something as sexy as the overlapping centre backs that had everyone stopping me in the streets to talk about the Blades.

Build on the brilliant season and improve the areas where we’ve lost players (centre half) and been weak (rb, centre mid at times, up top at times), replace the season loans with permanents, where possible. Keep to the philosophy of loaning in young exciting prospects.

Have to agree …

Fresh start ….

New ideas…

Someone with a modern approach who can work alongside the recruitment department ..

Wilder is getting like funny little Nigel … playing his mates… and blocking the recruitment team.

There are several factors with Wilder.

Results They have been obviously good. Better than most expected. Especially after last season.
Entertainment: There's a certain amount of entertainment which comes with results but the football have been largely boring. We've only played well for short spells. Especially considering how much better our squad is that almost every team in this league.
Recruitment: It hasn't been great under Wilder. Especially not when he's had money. This would be a major concern for me. I'd want a DoF in but I doubt he would.
Professionalism: Another major minus for me. I'd not want to manage someone who is so stubborn and mardy
Development: He's not had the best reputation for giving young players a go but circumstances have dictated that he has had to.

If I'm a new owner of a club who wants to change the way the club operates I'd be looking elsewhere for a manager as ours does not like change.

New manager but predicable recruitment for me

But that's hardly possible is it

I'd be happy to let Wilder do the basics with squad building but he'll then not last until November, unless being about 6th playing shite football is considered good enough

Sticking with Wilder is low risk but uninspiring. We'll be top 6 again, but carry on losing to anyone half decent

These fresh new ideas everyone are clamouring for, do they get us more than 92 points next season? Or are we just after some Weir-ball and hope the top 2 aren't as good next season?

Any rebuild and change of direction would be expected to bear fruit over a number of seasons. Patience would be required, and I think most would be if they could see the direction of travel and progress being made. It doesn’t have to be instant.

We have no idea what the owners’ plans are beyond a desire to establish us in the PL. maybe they are prepared to sustain us for 2-3 years whilst all the foundations for future long term success are put in place.

I haven’t voted on this one because I’m between the two choices .
I just read the club statement from the boards and was comforted by it to some degree . Basically because of two reasons . It seems we are moving on a few issues that have got right up my arse of late .
1.Recruitment
If it’s going data driven hallelujah! Take the responsibility away from CW or any future manager . It’s worked for Brighton Brentford and Bournemouth and kept them up .
2. Better training facilities and academy. Been neglected for years . Never forgive Prince for spunking millions on that ridiculous United World project at the expense of our own facilities.
Everyone is obsessed with the manager . Americans are obsessed with analyticals , special teams and fitness .
If you build it , it will come UTB ⚔️

We need a manager who can either pick a formation and sign players who can play in it, or pick a a formation that suits what you already have.

Wilder did neither. He picked a formation that didn't suit what he had and shoehorned players into it through sheer stubbornness, ego and arrogance, resulting in the piss poor disjointed performances all season, irrespective of results and league position.

Poor poll
Appointing a new manager should NEVER be a 'roll of a dice'
It would NOT be with Sean Dyche
@Saudi49er says the recruitment was fixed after getting rid of Wilder last time and in this summer when he was not allowed to bring in fellow journeymen for eg Peck
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0kfnz0q
eg Anel Vini Hamer where the few we had money to buy - and as seems the norm none English playing Vini took time to adjust to the pace.
ie BIG question mark against NEW OWNERS AND WILDER this last Christmas window
If they are as ignorant as they appear and Wilder is allowed his head it will be a typical shit show.

This is a daft poll.

The recruitment strategy is already different to last summer. Albeit Bettis handles the negotiating for the most part.

New owners have/are implementing a new scouting and targeting regime with the use of AI.

In fact a new manager would not change the strategy of transfers. Only targets to suit a different system.

I imagine they'll identify a lot of potential players to sign from their data driven strategy, which is what Brighton and Brentford do, then Wilder will be asked which he wants them to sign based on his planned formation/tactics. I can't see him handing as many lists over as previous windows.

Personally I don't mind this approach as it's more open minded with the potential to find the next Ollie Watkins/Ivan Toney/Victoria Gyokeres rather than the "I've been trying to sign this player for 6 years / I've worked with this player at previous clubs" approach which Wilder favours.
