Apart from Huddersfield when we were in Portugal I've done them all, plus the 2 Old Trafford semis and Cardiff.
Swore I'd never do another playoff final in my life, and yet despite the fact that I'm wearing a cast on my leg, I'll be at Wembley next week.

Pretty mad to think some folks spent their entire football going lives following the Blades between1926 to 1992 (66 years!) and never got to go to Wembley with us. I hope the fans following between 2026 and 2092 have a bit more to shout about. I guess it's better to have had the excitement of getting there (and lose) than not experience getting there at all.

Under the criteria for getting to Wembley between 36 and 92, we still wouldn't have got there. Play off finals and semis being there were not a thing.

Yep got the full shitty house ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌

Other than that it’s been just peachy 👍👍

Enough now Blades. This is getting like the Yorkshireman sketch from Monty Python.
I’ve been to every single play off and Wembley final since, the Battle of Hastings. We used to live in a shoebox in the middle of the road, work 29 hours a day down’t mill, have to drink a cup of cold poison at half-time, lose every match 36-0, and when we got home, our Dad’s would thrash within an inch of our lives, singing Hi ho silver lining.
And you try and tell the young people of today, that, and they won’t believe you!

I missed '93 because it was a case of do I want to spend my money on one day at Wembley as a skint 14 year old or put that money to a season ticket for the 1992 - 93 season. I went with the latter. We then sold the irreplaceable Brian Deane and replaced him with Jostein Flo! That worked out well!

I still maintain that we should have got Lee Chapman as a makeweight for Deane as Chapman has scored 14 PL goals for a struggling Leeds side in the 92 - 93 season where we actually finished above Leeds. Chapman knew the target man role really well at Leeds, he made a career out of that. Flo was nesh and better as a right forward in a system we didn't play.

You can’t say it’s bland supporting us.

Although we always seem to be the bridesmaid and never the bride at least we are in these games.

I’d much rather have all the big games we’ve been over the decades than be say a Preston or QPR or even a palace in the prem.

Might there be anyone still alive who was at the 1936 final? It's possible someone could have attended as a child and be in their 90s now.

Just wondering how many of our Wembley heartaches (1993 onwards) folks on here have been in attendance for? I've been to all 6 and I'm praying 7 is the lucky number! 🙏
1997 (Palace)
2007 (Burnley)
2012 (Huddersfield)
2014 (Hull)
2023 (Man City)

Plus Old Trafford (Arsenal) and Millennium Stadium (Wolves).

I wasn't at the Pigs or Newcastle semi finals

Done 5 of the six and Cardiff.
Missed the Hull City FA Cup semi final due to being stuck in a beer garden in Munich.
Also we went to the Swindon vs Millwall play-off final at Wembley, we lived in Swindon at the time. Millwall won 1:0.
Again backed the losing side. However because it wasn't United it didn't feel to bad.

im on 4 wembley defeats i think as 12 year old my 1st 2 away games were Old Trafford & Cardiff in 2003. i do remember watching 1997 as a 6 year old on tv

but also 3 heartaches because i dont count Hull at wembley as a heartache as thats as happy as it has got to be a united fan at neutral venue the last 100 years 😄 & we expected to lose to man city

Just the one for me Vs Hull. Found Wembley to be a dreadful, soulless experience….. probably because we lost! 🤣

All of them for me, plus Wolves plus Newcastle & Arsenal at OT. Also the 2 LC semis at Anfield and the Spurs one.

In terms of other playoff defeats, I was at the 2nd leg vs Bristol City in 88, was at Sunderland in 98, didn't go to Yeovil, Swindon or Forest.

Fun times...
Jeez Bristol relegation play off was a bad un. We got followed from the ground to where we’d parked the car, crossed the road at the last minute jumped in we were off. I don’t know what was the biggest surprise; that we hadn’t been jumped or that the Vauxhall Chevette started first time. Anyway we’d lost and we were down.

I didn't go in 93 but the other 2 we where huge underdogs tbf. Huddersfield play off defeat was by far the worst for me, that's the lowest I have ever felt leaving a game.

That's almost a semi or final every two years!

Missed the Hull semi and the Huddersfield debacle, as I was on another continent at the time.

Well of course I had it tough...

Play offs. BC, Palace, Sunderland, Wolves, Hudds, Yeovil, Swindon. FA Cup. Pigs, Newcastle, Arsenal, Hull, City. League Cup. Liverpool, Spurs

5 - Wasn't at the Hull game as flying back from the middle east. Was flying over London at kick off time, caught the second half on TV once we'd landed.

Edit: Not Wembley - But also Wolves at that shithole in Wales.

Edit Edit: And the semi's at Old Trafford

Loads of trouble that night with smaller groups of Blades getting ambushed.. they got paid back with interest the following season last away game

All of the play off finals and cup semis, after 97 I still can’t listen to Glad All Over and turn it off as soon as I hear the intro. Only good memory of that day was some Palace fans turning up in a tank

Put 5 cos I forgot one was at Cardiff. 4 at Wembley, 1 at Cardiff. Missed the Man City game the other year.
1997 Palace 0-1
2003 Wolves 0-3
2009 Burnley 0-1
2012 Huddersfield pens
2014 Hull 3-5

Also 2 FA Cup semis at Old Trafford, and 2 league cup semis that I went to both legs of.
1998 Newcastle 0-1
2003 Arsenal 0-1
2003 Liverpool 2-3 (agg)
2015 Spurs 2-3 (agg)
