Let's see how it goes.

I can see why people think we're in the best position to win these play offs based on the opposition and us being the clear best team based on the league table.
I can also see why people think otherwise based on a) our form, b) our style and c) our record in 6 pointers this season.

Leeds and Burnley we have played 4 times and lost every one.
Sunderland we have beat in a freak game 10 v 10 and lost away.
Our record against Coventry and Bristol City is much better granted, but that said Bristol City had us up against it for the whole second half at the Lane. Would not like that at Wembley.

Question I'd like to ask is do you think Chris Wilder has got what it takes when it really matters most to win a 6 pointer? The horrific record against Leeds and Burnley suggests not. But we ARE by far the best team in the play offs.

Our results against Leeds and Burnley are evidence that they have better teams

LOL...why ask a fairly open-ended question and then dismiss a perfectly good answer. Was Chris Wilder the manager in those matches or not?
How am I dismissing it by asking a question? Do you not understand how discourse works?

My concern isn't specifically that Wilder can't do it, my concern is him and the squad just look shot. These past couple of months have just seemed very off, no longer feels much like a squad playing for each other, maybe exhaustion god knows but the confidence and belief to me look almost non existent. Couple that with how we've dropped from 1st in the play off places doesn't make for a positive atmosphere.

If the lot of them can brush this off and accept they're still in the running, they're favourites and they start performing I wouldn't really have many concerns but alot of dropped heads at the minute it feels.

The Wilder of 2016-2020 is gone, the sooner people accept that the better
Or, like every human being, their careers and performance go through peaks and troughs.

Wilder, those players, and the fans as a whole peaked during those few years, but he was winning crunch games and promotions long before 2016.

The OP posed the question as specifically relating to Wilder, trying to use a very small sample size to suggest he's incapable of winning big games. It's easy to say, "well, maybe he was capable before, but he isn't anymore because of the last few games". If we do that with Pep this season, we'll probably end up looking stupid by the year's end.

Or, and I know this might be strange for you to grasp since you're always trying to look a bit too deep, am I just asking a question? 😂

While generally happy about our position though disappointed at the last months performances, I still find the tactics and substitutions strange.

Against Burnley and chasing the game why take off Burrows who can cross the ball.
Taking off Vini, I am olk with as he looked like he wasn't fit to play and was holding his hamstring in the first half. Replacing Peck meat that Choudray sat deep and Hamer dropping back when you needed him going forward. The game was calling out for O'Hare in the second half.

The change to 442 helped Cannon specifically but it was noticeable that both our full backs were not getting forward. Which is ironic as Wilder thinks full backs are creators. But that could be a result of being more direct with Moore on the pitch which meant the full backs had too much ground to make up to be involved high up the pitch.

For the last 20 with Burnley sitting back Seriki and McCallum come on. Both of who were not up to much as Burnley were defending in numbers but neither have ability to whip in a cross.

As a Manager Wilder comes across as being defensive on being questioned. Also stubborn and emotional. To win the playoffs we need to be confident organised and calm. We have the players but we haven't gelled properly as a team. To me it's 50:50 .

I'll be honest. I didn't want him back to start with.

I'll also be honest and say that to get us to third is a pretty good effort, even though he has had far more resources at his disposal than most of the division's managers have had all season. I also think we'll win the play-off's. I've felt it all season.

The 'kicker' for me though, is the fact that after all these years supporting United, I've actually got to the stage where I'm really not bothered about going anymore. I've never missed 6, 7, or 8 games a season before but my God......we are sooooo boring to watch.

It amazes me that, having watched a few Burnley games this season, that people say they are boring. No, they are just good defensively and have fewer options than us up front, but their football is miles ahead of us. They move and pass far better as well as getting the results.

Maybe it's just the way football in general is going but I'm thoroughly bored watching us most weeks. I haven't renewed yet either and, if it looks like Wilder is here next season, I probably wont.

I appreciate ALL views though and I'm not going to slag off those that have adifferent one.

I could have wrote that myself.

No there's no fucking chance. Get him out and let's get Chris Morgan in. Sorted

We've beaten the pigs twice this season - they're like big, one-off, form goes out of the window, high pressure games.
But, we've also bottled it during the run in...so I've got no idea! 😂

I have made my feelings on Wilder well known.
But we all need to put these a side and get behind the team.
There is nothing like Bramall Lane when it's rocking at a night match. We fans can play a big part in this by getting behind the players from the off cheering every tackle and attack, it really does make a difference.
As others have said I hope the club do something on tickets like £20 for the Kop and £25 everywhere else with maybe £10 for kids because a full Lane can be the difference.

I actually think he has got it in him… but whether he draw on that at the moment is my concern.

As mentioned above, Wilder and the team have looked flat for the last few weeks, so it’s whether they’ve got enough in the tank to get us over the line.

On a positive note, I think Wilder loves to prove people wrong, and given the recent criticism of him, I can see it motivating him to silence the doubters.

I also thought he sounded buoyant and up for the fight in his post match interview yesterday, noting that our past history doesn’t determine our future.

I can’t understand why some people think we should even be near Leeds and Burnley ? CW has overachieved unbelievably imo .

Look at the utter shit show he inherited- an owner who wanted out and to invest as little as possible and who was the biggest factor in us being a shit show . Compare that with the starting points of Leeds and Burnley .

CW recruited superbly well last summer - he had to recruit quality over quantity and get players in the building . He didn’t have time to gell them into worldbeaters yet get up in the top 3 all season from a minus 2 start - miles ahead of everyone but Leeds and Burnley who were only rid of us with 2 games to go . Plus he had the heart of the team ripped out in the Autumn / early winter .

FFS

Stop berating him and get the fk behind what he has done rather than what he hasn’t done

Overachieved unbelievably is very hyperbolic. We clearly have one of the best 3 teams and squads in the division.

Leeds and Burnley are better than us, no shame in that, Burnley will finish second on 100 points, it's ridiculous really. We will be huge favourites for the Play offs, what has gone before is irrelevant, and I expect the manager to be good enough as well as the players.

I thought yesterday was a good indication
Team looked motivated and committed but fell a bit short playing the most difficult team ( not the best) in the championship at home.
We couldn't find a way through but kept at it to the final whistle , if we'd have played more games like that this season perhaps we'd have made top 2.
No point looking back at what could have been though.
Expect lots of changes for final league games , if we wallop a team I the semi the optimism will return .
Not a happy clapper by any means but been on this rollercoaster too many times to get pessimistic, after all what's the worst that can happen .
