If we'd have beaten Leeds and Burnley at home, we'd be 11 points clear at the top on 94 points with 7 to play!!
We've gifted Burnley 3 and Leeds 6 and we're STILL top of the league.

We didn't gift them anything they beat us fair and square

If it wasnt for last minute equalisers in home games in March we would have an extra 2 points, and Leeds would have an extra 2 points and we would be 2 points clear of Leeds, oh wait that doesn't really work does it

We'd also be 4 clear of Burnley.

Not getting a draw against Leeds is the kicker. We would be 5 clear of them (and 3 from Burnley) had we held on.

Of course, maybe their recent stutter has happened because they thought, subconsciously, that the job was fine having beaten us.

If Wilder hadn't assembled and moulded such a team we might have been looking at the bottom three though.
Footballing world is full of ifs and buts.

Sounds like a Wednesday fan logic there.
If's but's and maybe's.

Never mind your auntie

If Leeds had a keeper, tonight would be a lot less fun
If we don’t get promoted my guess is Leeds will be in for Cooper. Now he’s proven in the championship by a country mile there will be lots of PL clubs looking at him as a 1st or back up keeper.

Fans tend to remember the frustrating results where we dropped points but forget about those where we stole something or got away with a poor performance.

On the overall balance of play this season we're about where we should be - at the top but not running away with it. We've been able to consistently grind out results with the odd top performance and rare let down. We rarely score a lot of goals per game so it's not surprising that we both win a lot of games narrowly but equally are vulnerable to late equalisers and winners. You can't count one but not the other.

If Wilder hadn’t fucked up at home against Leeds with his stupid substitutions and had continued to pressure Messy then we would have won and I’d be a lot more confident and happy. I might even be as delusional as Pollington.

The bottom line, and its easy to say this, is that we win out, we go up as champs.

Yep, its easy to think this but as a pessimist this season with the backwards style of play we conjured up earlier in the season coupled with the fluid state at the beginning of the season followed by the protracted buy out by my Cleveland Ohio friends, to be where we are right now - same games and 2 points to the good - is truly an amazing feeling.

Well done to all at SUFC.

The thing is I'm called delusional but yet almost everyone said Leeds were defo up after they beat us.

Are we defo up now then following that logic?

Don't quite get your maths logic
But I do understand your sentiment. 😃

Sunderland, Derby, Bristol City, Swansea wins that could easily have been draws or defeats..

Hopefully leaves their defence unsettled. He’s been the weak link all season but after that today it surely leaves them nervy at the back for the remaining games.

Ifs and ands/pots and pans, bla bla bla.
Auntie had bollocks yadda yadda yadda.
Only one stat really matters, folks, and that's for us to keep focused on winning our games. The rest is out of our control.
Keep the Faith, Blades! 👊 ⚔️

Leeds have since beating us taken only 6 points from 5 games. I don't think either us or Burnley have had such a poor 5 game run. Our worse 5 was the 7 points we got between 14 Dec and 1 Jan or between 26 Dec and 18 Jan.
