Best Blades goal from a free kick?

Great power behind it, the difference between the balls then and these days makes free kicks completely different. Imagine how many attempts it’d take to recreate Hamers last night to that !
I love the old school free kick goals for the power though, I was born in the 80’s so never played with a ball like that I was always told by relatives older than me that they stung a bit if you got in the way of one though !

Woodwards direct goal from the corner
Think he scored 2 that way

To old to remember which matches though 👨‍🦳

Tony MacMahon easily number one IMHO for doing it twice in one game.

As I'm sure most of us did, I played a fair bit of football as a kid and like the rest of us I'm pretty certain an injury likely stopped me going pro ;)

One thing I'll never forget from childhood though is the feeling of being slapped with that Mitre ball on a cold rainy day. Usually to the thigh. Was an absolute unit that thing.

Thanks for posting - the clip is great- TC having to cajole Woody 20 yards to come and take it. Grumpy Woody shrugs over and just welts a cannon ball rocket- fantastic.

Hard to pick a winner between Gus's last night and that beauty- both absolute joys to watch.

Currie appears to be ragging the ref about at one point, too.

Recall Oh Lord bending one inside a post from 25 yards v Reading which was disallowed for some reason. Re-took it and pinged it just inside the other post instead to set us on our way

We lost 1-3....

In terms of importance at the time, Brown's which got it back to 2-1 v Forest in Play offs.

Also the one we never scored Brown v Pool at Anfield why that cunt Mooney took that free kick has never been explained.

Ollie Norwood at Brentford was a good 'un.
*edit, curse my memory, wasn't a free kick

Glad it’s not just me that is still annoyed with Mooney for that 20+ years later 🤣
