Last night was never going to be THE defining moment in our season. It may be a defining moment for the title race though.
Leeds have come through recent matches against the top 4 and only dropped 2 points to Burnley in a true borefest.

There is still 12 games left and it's entirely on us to try and pick up the required points to finish top 2.

It was frustrating to see us lose a 1-0 lead and see it turn around to a loss, a 3-1 loss at that.

But for me, we were the better team 1st half. In fact first 25 mins we were all over them and had we managed to squeeze another goal in who knows.
2nd half I felt we were keeping them at arms length mostly. Yeah they weren't taking the most of opportunities before hand but the same could be said of us with ours 1st half and even that breakaway with BBD and Campbell early on 2nd.

You can point the finger at subs losing us some momentum but I have to admit at the time I was happy to see Hamer on for RakSakyi. And I thought that perhaps Campbell was ready to come off so Canon made sense. Canon of which I thought put the shift in but as we were dropping more was becoming more isolated. But he did give there defence something to think about still.

Overall, it's a disappointing end to a top of the table clash.
But the way I'm looking at it is we are still 2nd. I expected Leeds to win the title back in August, they are very likely to do so and lets be honest they are scoring for fun many weeks too.

We gave them a game last night, but Leeds managed to wear us down eventually, but on another night we win or draw that and it doesn't seem so bad.

Lastly players put in a shift last night, and admittedly at 3-1 game is over, but couldn't believe how quick people were to leave. When did our fanbase get like this? Is it still a result of last season's soul destroying?

Yes I was surprised at that. Beef and dripping brigade :D

I thought a draw would have been a fair result.

I stayed until the final whistle but didn't hang around to clap the players off the pitch. Like you I find it amazing how people leave before the final whistle, throwing their toys out of the pram in the process, but I do have a 50 mile trip to get home and by the time I rolled into bed after reading some of the doom and gloom on here it was 1.15.

It was a cracking game, and relieved to see us on the front foot. Reminded me of the 3-1 defeat to Boro a few seasons back, we needed a 2nd or 3rd when we were on top but didn't get it. Leeds are a very strong team and pinned us back. Sure, one can blame Wilder, the subs, the tracking back, etc. but over 90 minutes they probably had the better chances and deserved it. That said, a draw wouldn't have been unjust.

The reaction when Leeds scored the second was embarrassing, clearly many of our fans have zero confidence in the manager or team, which I find bewildering and depressing. Likewise, on here.

I left when leeds scored there 2nd, purely out of being devastated, I sometimes stay to the end, sometimes I don't, last night it was just an immediate reaction of frustration and if we were to equalise it's me that misses out ain't it, but last night was more the fact I thought we played very well, needed that 2nd goal when we well on top, but in the end, just fell short, was a fine effort though and play like that for the remainder I'm certain we will go up. It will be a tough one to take for the players and manager but we've bounced back great so far this season and I expect we will at qpr too. Utb

I left before the final whistle, when the 3rd went in. I couldn't face walking past the Leeds fans, if they weren't to be kept behind, so I left. Not sorry. That was my 31st league game of the season. Got out of the car park quickly too, which was nice

Yes. It was a bit traumatic walking through the Leeds fans - then having to share the M1 with them on the way home☹

The game was over at 1-2, our players folded after that and submitted for their 3rd when there was plenty of time left to go get an equaliser. Unforgivable.

The mass walk outs whenever things turn sour are incredibly disappointing. Yes some people have to leave a bit early anyway to beat the traffic etc, but it must be an extra kick in the nuts for the players and management team when they see the stands empty like that. If it had been a performance in line with last season it's understandable, but the lads gave it everything last night.

Lovely! Well put. I'll say it was probably one of the most enjoyable games to watch this season. It felt like we kept them at bay for long parts of the game and in real time, all 3 of their goals seemed to come very close together. I had a check this morning and i'd not really appreciated at the time that their first was as early as it was.

We played well, we shouldn't lose sight of that. I think it's important to say that. We didn't try to play for a draw or even containment, we started very strong and the game plan was absolutely clear - put their keeper under pressure. So much so that in the first half stats on Sky Sports he'd made 1 save, dropped 2 and scored an OG. Some going. Their defence looked solid but we got in behind a lot.

We worked hard and as mentioned in the Souza thread, that midfield of Souza and Peck looked as good as it has done against a very good side in this division.

Second half, we could again have come out to contain, but we had a go, again. We had chances, again. But we didn't get the chance enough second half to pressure their keeper with the same type of balls onto the keeper.

Clarke and his injury aside, we let Leeds make the first move from the bench and immediately reacted. Although i think Solomon gave Clarke enough problems that we would've made the change anyway. Choudhury, though was decent. He stopped that threat and Leeds eventually replaced Solomon.

We didn't bring in defensive players, we made a straight swap, Campbell for Cannon, which i can't complain about. Cannon put in the work and i think showed some quality as well at times. Hamer, coming in to occupy the left side, BBD swapping to the right for JRS seemed to be positive as BBD saw more of the ball and was again positive. BBD tired though and was about to be replaced before they scored.

Generally we tired, Souza seemed to have run himself into the ground and had taken a few knocks that he'll have a few bruises today, i'm sure. BBD was ready before he came off, he was still a threat though. It was probably a hard call between Brewster and Davies, i'd have gone with Brewster there and replaced Souza with Davies. Hamer though, just wasn't fit, two Hamer style tackles, again the second was probably a booking. He was fairly lucky but it wasn't expected to be a red, really.

Leeds, for all the possession, which we were happy to give them, didn't threaten too much. We restricted them. But we collapsed dramatically following the equaliser. I think once that came it was game over. A draw was perhaps the right result, but Leeds just have too much from the bench and they're too clinical. They punished us. The Piroe goal though was just a screamer.

Not too much to be ashamed of there and certainly we set up right, we did it the right way. We were nearly there... We just were second best in the end when they stepped it up a few gears. We're in good shape with the next run of games to get back on track and keep Burnley away.

Spot on! The disappointment was clear to see not just in the emptying
Seats ! Players were showing it too.
Wilders job now to pick them up ! Which he is good at !the last half hour showed our lack of conditioning in some players who can't give that extra 10% having come back after injury or loan players who missed out on pre season due to injury or no team engagement ( surplus to requirements).
That maybe making excuses for running out of gas but I think that Had a big influence as the game progressed towards a poor finish.
I always see the game out even the Toon debacle but I understand the depression which took over.
As usual we go again! Come on you Blades! maybe winning it is a long shot now but 2nd place is in our hands at the moment.

Exactly how I saw it. Agree with everything. Good summary

I went as soon as it was 3-1. Why the fuck would you stay to clap the players off for losing 3-1 vs Leeds? 😂😂😂😂

Everyone's entitled to do whatever they want, they've paid no more or no less than anyone else. They can leave at 1-1 if they like.

I'm not going to have a go at any fan who left early, I've done it many times in frustration before but yesterday I think was a good opportunity to stay to clap them because it was a decent performance and they deserved that clap and recognition of their performance. I think the players will have appreciated those that stayed and clapped but as I say I've left before too.

I think we'll bounce back now, QPR will be tough but it's a winnable gabe and Burnley are in the cup so a good chance to put five points between us and them again.

I think my fear was, based on a lot of other performances this season, that we would really get showed up last night, but we weren't and went toe to toe with them for 3 quarters of the game. Yes, it was obviously disappointing to ultimately lose, but it should really give the team (and dare I say it, the fans!) the confidence they need for the rest of the season.

No. I haven't calmed down.
Wilder needs replacing.
Good to know!

It would probably go down as one of the most bizarre, and ridiculous decisions to make in the modern era at this very time.
Fair enough if our form drops off a cliff before the end of the season. But sitting right now in automatics.....

My mate was doing the driving. He’d said beforehand that when they got 3 he was off, so I had no choice. Having said that, I think he was surprised he was still there so near the end. He expected us to take more of a tonking.

Yes I’ve calmed down and now, and fully focused on the QPR game. But S2 and various other Blades outlets do help in soothing the pain…Better to be a bedwetter on here than kick the cat or have a Michael Palin “8 bloody1” meltdown.

We tried A1 to try and avoid them. Mistake! Detour and then took a wrong turn and ended up on the wrong side of Ferry Bridge. Got in at 12.15. If we weren't fed up before, we were by then.😬

I mused over doing that - having noticed that some of the Middlesbrough coaches did that the other week - but fortunately thought better of it :D

Any half decent manager would have this squad in the top 2.
