I see Campbell currently has the best (lowest) mpg - minutes per goal in the Championship as listed by the BBC in their Top Scorers list. His is 114, next best is Callum Robinson (Cardiff) at 128 and Conway (Middlesborough) at 128.

Table here

The stats look good but they are very misleading, he's played in 17 games which is 1530 minutes, if he had played 90 mins in each of those games with that strike rate he'd have 13 goals, as it stands a goal every 114 minutes means to have scored 6 goals he must only have played 684 minutes in 17 games , which is about 40 minutes per game on average of the ones he's been fit enough to play in , I would personally much rather have a striker with a slightly worse strike rate that plays every week

Well that makes that 0-3 defeat last Friday seem so much better.

Wilders signing for championship are incredible.

I think Campbell is great and in my view he's pound for pound our best striker.

But sadly his body as let him down over his career and as they say the best ability is availability!

Agree……been a better player than I thought he was.
His movement, calmness in front of goal (always seems to hit the target) and general class is easily approaching PL level.
He stuggles with injuries but he’s still quite young.
Might be just a case of Wilder not pushing him physically, so he might have quite a few matches being our super sub
And to be honest what a sub? When he came on at home to Norwich and away at Swansea his class stood out and we instantly looked more threatening.

What would be misleading would be to say that Campbell has scored 6 in 17. His injury issues mean he’s not actually played 17 games and to get the returns he’s got with the number of limited appearances he’s made is encouraging.

If he’d been fit enough to play the full 90 in 17 games I would expect him to be on 12-15 goals.

His fitness probably can't handle a full championship schedule but now we have Cannon we can rotate much better to not push his minutes too much.

12-15 goals I agree which is exactly what I said in my post so what is your point ? My point is he doesn't play enough

Easily our best striker. A million miles better than Cannon. Great movement and a natural finisher.
Thought Cannon did well when he came on, didn't see much of the ball but battled hard for it and kept the ball at the top end / made their defenders work hard for it, taking the pressure off for periods of time. Campbell is now the obvious starter, but Cannon should be a decent replacement

He's one of a number of liabilities who permanently need fucking substituting. It's tiresome and severely limiting

Agree to an extent. Thought Canon did battle for it more today and made their defence work, but whenever he got the first touch he seemed to end up on his arse so couldn't use it.

I do like Campbell though. Hoping he can string a few games together now.

Cannon was decent when he came on today. Anyone who says otherwise is just out for him. Campbell missed a chance on goal line if Cannon did that their would be multiple threads on it.

Campbell is very effective and a good player in good form coming back from an injury. It takes time to get these players back fully fit for 90 minutes. Some people will blame subs / wingers like usual for us not defending corners but it’s the usual suspects.

Hey, I did say I thought Canon offered a lot more last night and I'm certainly not writing him off. It will take time for the front players to all get on the same wavelength but I'm hopeful it will.

Apologies if I didn’t get it right. I thought last night he showed the exact same as Campbell. He stretches the pitch chased down lost causes. The second half we didn’t create many chances the same for Campbell.

No apology necessary. I can see how my post could look like another knocker because he cost a lot and hasn't scored a hatful yet. Agree neither had much to work with second half.

Campbell has been an excellent signing.

What actually was/is his injury problem and at what point do we expect to get continual 90 minute games out of him ?

Genuine question.

Obviously we all see different things because I thought he was weak and slow.

I don't think we are ever going to see a full 90. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I want him to have more than 70 minutes regularly eventually!
