There's loads of examples but it's debatable how much it actually helped us.

In 2002-03 Leicester finished 2nd and we finished 3rd. Wednesday took four points off Leicester by drawing both fixtures against them.

In 2005-06 they beat Leeds and Preston and drew against Watford. They were the three teams that finished immediately below us in 3rd, 4th and 5th.

In 2018-19 they took points off Leeds with a draw.
How many of those instances were when we knew we wanted them to do us a favour?

In 2018-19 that draw was in September for example. Them getting results during the run in is when I would count - and I appreciate that itself reduced the likelihood by concentrating on many many fewer matches.

Those reasons are exactly why I said it was debatable how much it actually helped us.

Those two draws against Leicester in 2002-03 were decent though to say Leicester went up and Wednesday were relegated.

In my head I will be saying 'come on Wednesday'. I will have a very long shower afterwards.
But it is ingrained isn't it, if Burnley score there is an automatic 'YES!' that should never leave you.

One of my drinking mates is a pig fan (I know!!, but he is one of the rare 'OK' ones). His predictions are generally right, annoyingly at times. He is realistic though and puts them down for losses when I think they might win. Anyways, he is absolutely convinced they will get something tonight, he has his money on 1-0, smash and grab.
For once I hope he is right.
I am just going to have a few beers and try to chill, what will be will be.
I will put more energy into thinking about Monday night.

It's easier to view the table and reflect on the games after the season ends. But right here and now, if Wednesday win and we also win, then we will be in a very superior position. On current form Burnley and Sunderland would struggle to gain back those points over the remaining games.

I think that's a good shout, it looks like there were only 6 points between us and Leicester when they drew 1-1 at their place in March:

We'd also recently rediscovered our own form after a bad patch in February where we lost against Millwall, Ipswich, Reading and Norwich and then beat Rotherham, Grimsby and Burnley so (I can't remember, but) I imagine this was very much a situation where Wednesday "did us a favour" in the moment.

Still, 22 years have passed since then, which I imagine is why I feel like the buggers never help us out...

Sunderland are definitely out of the running unless they string together three or four wins soon.

Burnley are having a bizarre season. Someone commented the other day that it might actually be beneficial for them to concede a goal sooner rather than later just to get the clean sheet monkey off their backs, and I agree with that.

This is one of the reasons I'd be happy with another 0-0 draw.

At the moment, maybe unconsciously, they might be concentrating on maintaining that record.

Once they concede they might start to be a bit more attacking - and results might pick up.

Any result in which Burnley drop points is a good one - doubly so if its a home game where they will be wanting and expecting to win every game

Only 2nd time in 60 years have I put pigs to win. Last time was 19 April 2019 against Norwich. They drew that one which was zero use to us they had to win

I have bet on em for tonight. Rohl has built a half decent side from fuck all with 2 or 3 gems in and he knows you need physicality in this league. If they get one early Burnley will have difficulty coming back. Having said that, everything I’ve backed for the last month has failed. 🤷‍♂️

Fancy Wednesday to get something off Burnley, hope it’s 3 or 1point!

wednesdays away form and burnleys home form definetly gives pigs a chance tonight but ive a feeling they will lose this one and sunderland to virtually put them out of a play off place but if im totally wrong and they beat burnley a win for us against leeds puts us in a fantastic position

A draw please, a Burnley win is a bad result right now, a Wednesday win could be disastrous down the line.

Ive had a small wager on burnley as this is the worst result for united but id feel slightly better for winning a bit of cash

1. In the real world #sufc are the pigs but neither should be.
Why - because in the day working people ate cheap fatty ie STREAKY bacon.
People would not eat bacon re RED and white stripes on bad days for Wendy.
Do NOT eat bacon if it is blue and white stripes.
It would not be good.
2. I have voted for a (hoped) Wendy win.
It would make life easier (hopefully)
But Burnley will be wound up by the crasse imbeciles on FootballHeaven and 0-0 and 1-0 scorelines jibes.
eg Arsehole Adam on Saturday and Stalin Statton again last night.
Just the same as Radio Leeds will be taking the piss out of Wilder again re his imbecilic statements.
(Even Leigh Bromby last game)
3. I'm expecting 3 or more goals for Burnley
Why? They attack WIDE unlike the imbecile Wilder.
It creates chances as the 2-0 wins they had against both teams in Sheffield.
Wednesday cannot defend crosses/freekicks without injuries let alone now.
4. There is always hope and flukes but expecting game to be decided when I get back from shops at half time.
(NOTE Boro 3 v 0 Wendy HT - 3-3 full time)

I really can’t see the Pigs breaching that Burnley defence. I don’t want a Burnley win so it’s a 0-0 draw in a bad tempered game featuring some red cards on both sides for me.

Reported for saying the B word at the end there.

Burnley defensive line finally taken a hit with Bashir Humphreys out injured
