Soon? Not scored in about 200 minutes of football, that's just over 2 full games worth. How many should he be bagging?

Give Campbell 3 starts and hope he starts bagging. I'm fully behind the lad. Just looking at an alternative if he doesn't find form, it's the business end of the season after all. O'hare doesn't score much so the other forwards needs to be in form. Diaz has 231 minutes and 2 goals if that helps you minute goal thingy.

He starting bagging straight off. He's probably the most sure and dangerous fox we've got.

Campbell is a streaky player, or he was before he came here and he seems to be now he’s here - he needs a run back in the team after being out for best part of a month.

Campbell is our best striker, and it’s not even close. He can play the one up top role better than anyone else we have at the club. Which is why I’m shocked we’ve invested heavily on Cannon when he’s never been able to do it/looks like he can’t do it currently.

Crazy view. He were paramount to putting us into this position, and with his first 6/7 starts he’d bagged 5/6 goals if I remember correctly.
There are 14 games left this season. How many games would you let a forward start without scoring (Cannon / Campbell / Moore / Brewster) rather than give Diaz a go? 4? 7? all 14? I'm just talking hypotheticals but in the event every other front man option is firing blanks I don't see why you'd persist with them for the rest of the season when Diaz might be able to do their job. Fingers crossed Campbell gets the goals anyway, he's been one of my favourite players this season.

Why change Diaz position when he’s scoring from the wing? Makes zero sense. I’d stick with Campbell.. as I’ve said all along, Cannon wasn’t a worthwhile investment at the money we’ve spent.

Striker or not, regardless of who had the chance, in the position Campbell found himself where a square pass sets up an open goal, the pass should be played every time IMO. Especially given that the game was still delicately poised at 2-1.

Obviously it didn't matter in the end, and tbf I can understand why Campbell took the shot on as he hasn't netted for a few games. Takes confidence to make that decision and once again his movement was excellent after coming on.

Well we're not dropping Rak-Sakyi, we're not dropping O'hare and we're not dropping Hamer. So we're not giving Diaz many minutes if you insist he only be a winger. Don't think we can justify dropping Peck so Hamer can go central with Diaz on the wing currently either.

Agree Campbell doesn’t always do much but has a touch of class about him…he makes clever runs and always seems to get his shots on target.

I suppose we bought Cannon as insurance due to both Campbell and Moore being injury prone.
Also Cannon is an opportunity that doesn’t come around much and young player with high potential.
Similar to when we bought Brewster and McBurnie but we paid much more for this 2.
10 million for Cannon is a little over priced but in the grand scheme it’s not that much.

From what Ive read, these days a one on one mostly favours the goalkeeper, its not the guaranteed chance it used to be. I don't know if this is to do with a change in technique for keepers or size, or the speed of recovering defenders. But it also increasing feels the case, from the eye test, Of course a striker needs to back themselves in that situation, but if the pass is on, I think it needs to be the option. Campbell has looked another level upfront this season, but I also think it needs to be seen if Campbell has the stamina and fitness for week in week out starts and we have to view his development long term, not just the next match, in which case given Rak-Sakyi also seems to be a reliable goalscorer from outwide, BBD up top has to be an option. There will be rotation amongst that top 4, but you imagine BBD will be featuring regularly across that lineup and his ability to get goals from different positions is a huge asset.

I’d understand if he were a similar player to Campbell/Moore, but he’s the polar opposite, that’s why I can’t grasp why we’d invest such a high amount on him. Hopefully he comes good though. Not been impressed outside an assist against Derby

I'm wondering whether we use BBD as a central striker on his own?

He certainly gets in the positions you'd expect a striker to be.

It would allow us to also play JRS, O'Hare and Hamer.

He's another option there. BBD was a great signing because he covers three positions.

Campbell gives us a lot in that position though. He makes really intelligent runs.
I also think there's a lot more to come from Kieffer Moore when he comes back. I think he'd like playing with BBD.

Campbell does, but I don't like starting games with a player we know can't finish them. I think he's a better option to bring on for 30-40 minutes against tiring defenders.

Campbell also has a recent history of injuries, including being out for several games for us. Combine that with Moore's struggles and it was universally accepted that we needed another striker who could start most games.

3 goals and 3 assists (I'm counting goal against Leeds as an assist) in just 7 games.

Not bad for someone who's probably only at around 80% fitness and playing on opposite wing to his preferred.

Could and should have been up to 4 goals already, probably the only current loan player I would be happy signing permanently.

He should be on 5. Squandered 2 massive opportunities that I can recall. But he's always in the right place to have those opportunities which counts for a lot. I'd be happy with both Brezza D and Rak-Sakyi if they wanted to sign (price dependent of course). Shame the rest of the loan signings have been underwhelming (can't comment on Holding, not seen enough, maybe still a player worth having there).

Interested to know what Southampton fans think of his form with us so far!

Got to say I'm very disappointed with Brereton's overall performance levels, despite his goals.

Where has his energy and athleticism gone?

Has he regressed or is he just playing within himself at a lower level?

He’s been getting fit and making a huge contribution in terms of goals and assists.

Not really sure how anyone can criticise.

He should be more than fit enough by now to be imposing himself much more physically on this division. He was actually more effective in this manner in the PL. Maybe he needs Moore playing with him?

I am a fan of BBD and badly wanted us to get him back, I've given him some time now and he's still not looking anything like. It's fair to now raise this point. I'm now glad we have no obligation to buy

I think when we play him on the right (out of position) he disappears. He needs to be on the left running with the ball, let him do that and he will be one of our best players

Not sure apparently playing wide on right suits him. I agree little disappointing but still scored important goals for us

And he'll score at least another 3 goals

But his overall threat and contribution needs to be much better. We are not scoring enough goals. If Brereton, Hamer and 1 or 2 others can be playing well then the goals will flow - we might even score 3 once or twice
