What’s our style of play?

Just about every team we play against matches our formation, and they create chaos down the wings and run through the middle unopposed. We play the formation and we can't string two meaningful passes together or create decent chances on goal. So the problem is either poor recruitment, which is a fair argument when we play Hamer out wide and two strikers alongside him, or the problem is a manager who doesn't know how to use the formation effectively. Personally I think it's a mix of both. We don't have the right players due to a lack of wingers and I also don't believe Wilder knows how to use it anyway, as we've been crap all season, even when we've put out our strongest teams.

Boro and Leeds will batter us and we will not recover for a top two finish. Wilder needs to change the set up and ditch this wretched formation as I'm sick of other teams using it against us far more effectively every single game. The results have been good but the performances and lack of consistency is alarming. After last season the warning signs are obvious that Wilder cannot keep us up. He is too stubborn and not good enough himself. We will be on a hiding to nothing next season in the Premier League under Wilder, IF he gets us promoted.

He should be out of a job after the Leeds and Boro changes but now the pay off will be too big. Galaxy brain move by the owners.

Answer to the original question is, winning 😀
It is disjointed and Southgatian in style with two DMs killing any midfield flow. Feels like things can be tweaked to get things going, Gus in the middle, playing players on the side they favour. Have to back Wilder to sort it. I thought we were in for a truly dismal season, but here we are, top 2.

Yes it was Chris, you picked the wrong ones for the players you have at your disposal and tried to shoehorn square pegs into round holes like you have done all season, which is why this performance matched 90% of the wretched performances that we've put in this season.

Why didn't you recruit wingers in January if you want to play a formation and tactics designed for wingers? Deluded and stubborn, but then it's never his fault.

It's funny that the owners recognised that we need wingers and signed two, albeit they're not ready yet.

Hopefully nobody's asked him a slightly uncomfortable, less than reverent and arse kissing question..... they'll have had their head bitten off

It’s still ‘give the ball to Hamer’

Anyone who has ever watched football before would understand that a midfield of Souza and Hamza v a relegation battler is a bad idea, but we did it anyway. Wilder was trying to coach them at 0-0, what is he actually saying?

Something along the lines of:

“I know I’ve played you 2 in the middle but I need one of you to all of a sudden become a forward thinking midfielder and not a stopper and passer like you’ve been for the whole of your career”

I like your answer but that's merely a function of us having better players than most of the rest of the league.

We are no different now than we were two years ago under Hecky, when we relied on Ndiaye to win games for us - with help from Doyle, McAtee, McBurnie and Berge.

All that's changed is we have to rely on Hamer to make the difference instead of Ndiaye.

Winning is not because of any method, it's despite it.
