Seriki has to start

We need strength and pace so much. He gives us that, just needs to improve his defending

He is due a start and it would be good to see him get a full game before/if JJ Kenny arrives.Hull would be ideal with Ryan Giles at left back, someone who would struggle with Serikis pace and also someone we would want to keep pinned in Hulls half as much as possible. Nothing against Gilchrist he has been a warrior and I would have no qualms with us seeing out the season with him at RB, but just feel this is really a moment with Seriki.

Seriki is a fantastic marauding fullback. He would work beautifully as a consistent pairing down the right with Brooks. Femi offering the wide option, freeing Brooks up to roam inside and offer more support centrally.

Would be happy to see him get a run in the side, to see how he does on an extended basis.

I think Seriki starts if we still have Soutar. Not convinced Gilchrist is the answer at CB, regardless of his previous - he can play there, no doubt, but I'm not sure him and Anel are enough against the more dynamic forward lines we face.

yeah looking like seriki v jjk for the right back spot both better than gilchrist in that position
We just need a back up for Seriki, who has to start, I can't see Kenny being a back up if we sign him, I'll be dumb founded if Seriki isn't given the opportunity to make the position his own

Love him, changed the game and should have had 2 assists. But still positionally suspect and gives wide men too much room to put crosses in. His good far outweighs his rough edges so I agree he’s worth a starting place now.

Gilchrist also gives way too much room to his opposition winger.
But offers none of what Seriki does in attack.. and is a Chelsea player.

If JJK comes in and is as solid as I'm expecting, it does ask the question....

I'm sure Seriki will get his games, but if Kenny joins you have to assume he'll be the starter no?

It’s unfair on Gilchrist because he’s being played out of position during his time at Sheff Utd.

He’s played almost all his career at Chelsea as centre back and impressed in that position, playing 17 times last season.
His main position is centre back but he’s able to cover as right back in emergencies.

This probably explains why Wilder is targeting Jonjo Kenny,

I watched him play right wing back in a five for Chelsea last season.

Speak to Chelsea fans, he’s alot better as centre back than what he is as right back.
Think he’s only played once for us as centre back this season and wasn’t great….but that’s one game.

I remember in Gilchriest first 2 games as right back he wasn’t great but he gradually adjusted and has been good in that position.
The only issue is that Gilchriest offers nothing going forward and this stands out even more what compared to the impressive Sereki.

Do agree to a point, the big issue with AG as centre back is his lack of physicality and height.
I believe he played in a back 5 as part of 3 centre backs.
So agree it’s probably too risky playing him in a back 4
And playing in a back 5 needs understanding and time for the 3 centre backs to gel.
Do wonder if Souttar might be good enough in the PL but only when playing in the middle of 3 centre backs in a back 5.

All teams need someone that makes the opposition think about what’s behind them rather than what’s in front. The pace Seriki and Campbell offer in behind means teams have to think carefully before committing FBs and Central midfielders forward. Great athletes.

Yep, I acknowledge that he can play there. My issue is I don't think him and Anel, as a pair, would offer enough protection. If it was him and Soutar, no issue. I think Anel is quality but he has his frailties and combined with Gilchrist' stature, I think we'd struggle against the better attacks in the league with them as our CB paring.

He gets to the byline on his strongest foot causing havoc..don't see the fascination with inverted wingers misen.. play wingers on their natural foot.

With the forward options we're going to have, I agree.

Let's see Brooks & JRS go over to the left in games too. There's no reason the wingers can't switch over and even double-up for an overload.

Going down the outside gives some extra zip to our attacks. Feel like it all slows down when we do the inverted stuff.
Especially down our right when Seriki isn't an overlapping option.

The two chances he set up today for Brewster & then McCallum were top quality. Knocking people off the ball and powering to the byline, exceptional talent who arguably has the highest ceiling in the entire squad if he can put it all together.

Good going forward but not good defensively.
Swansea had so much space last night down the right side when he came on.
The better sides in this division would have a field day.
He's a sub player coming on when you are chasing the game not a starter.

Kyle Naughton was better than Kyle Walker at 22
Didn’t say he wasn’t but the statement was Walker was better than seriki at the same age and I don’t think that’s the case.

Walker was a better defender at the same age in my opinion. Seriki had a torrid time against West Brom away with a good winger up against him. Seriki is good going forward, but hasn’t proven himself defensively against the best yet

Just back from injury. Good as an impact player to bring on and go up against tired defenders.

Not so sure he would have the same impact starting... YET.

Have to agree , the lad offers us so much more from an attacking sense .. last night just like game against the oinks he complexly changed the dynamics of the game .. should now be a starter ⚔️

Brooks in particular needs an overlapping full back. Brooks had a poor first half, but may be disappointed he didn't get the chance to work with Seriki. O'Hare was shifted to the right, but had an ineffective game.

Brooks had a poor first half
He did but was one of many in his defence, I also suspect he was still recovering from illness too.

I think Brooks and JRS will both benefit from having Seriki playing as it's very easy to double up on either of them when Gilchrist provides so little going forward himself. Also not a pop at Gilchrist as he's largely been excellent for us - offers us some genuine defensive tenacity and part of the reason we've kept so many clean sheets.

agree but as you say his defending falls short but going forward he is the man . We did look weak yesterday at right back Swansea found loads of space on that wing and exploited it

I’d like to see him in front of Gilchrist or JJK in the Brooks role…that would be very tasty imho.
