I think their manager should tell number 34 / Matt Lowton to pretend he still plays for us and score two belting O.G.s on purpose.

As for the demise of the Cup, it's fate was sealed when that despicable, arrogant bunch of twats, Manchester United, were allowed to opt out.

Let's hope the worm is turning...

Hedge fund chief cashes in with £13.5m 'bet' on United's share price crash under Moyes

When the final whistle blew at Old Trafford on New Year’s Day, one guru of high finance would have been cheering Tottenham Hotspur’s victory just as wildly as the travelling support.

Multi-millionaire Crispin Odey owns a hedge fund, a type of investment vehicle that seeks out opportunities to make a quick return for clients.

And in December, his firm Odey Asset Management made a £13.5million bet that Manchester United’s poor performance would prove more than just a blip.

Fourth Round Draw Numbers

20 Aston Villa or Sheffield United
21 Macclesfield Town or Sheffield Wednesday

I think it's a disgrace, what chance have these so called big clubs got of silverware other than the cups?? Most fans other than the big four would rather see a cup lifted than a mediocre season avoiding relogation. That's where the premiership an money have spoilt football money over silverware!!! Not for me thanks if I could see the blades lift the fa cup in my lifetime (unlikely) that would do me. Think of Wigan at least they've seen there side win a meaningful trophy...

And to add lets hope we by some slim chance beat them an see that scot lambert suffer a relegation battle like never before...

Just coming back to this one... according to Twitter, apparently Villa's press team have absolutely hammered the journalist who reported Lambert's quotes in an attempt to stop what he'd said from coming out and rumours of the journalist in question being banned from the ground for being a troublemaker. They claim Lambert's quotes were taken out of context in terms of the whole interview.

The journo's defence is "well, he said it!"

My post off 'So proud' thread

The interview was broadcast on RS and was reproduced on the BBC football site but they only converted about 2/3rd of the interview to copy and this was not in the article so don't look it up.

Key was the last question

If the FA Cup is not important then what is important in football?

Lambert "a long contract"

Better to pocket the cash than give the fans success?

The journo was on Radio WM after the game, responding to Lambert's assertion that the journo had said he wished he hadn't asked the question. The journo said he felt that way not because it was an unreasonable question, which it wasn't, but because of the way he'd subsequently been hounded by the press office. Lambert claimed his own quote was taken out of context, but then did the same to the journo.

It's another example of how football is becoming increasingly out of touch with its roots (cf Adam Lallana getting all precious with Mark Clattenburg).
