Given that Sunderland have just agreed a loan to buy deal for that guy from Roma this week, it looks like they are going for it big time in this window.

Hope I’m wrong but I can see this one rumbling on until the end of the window, with Saints trying to maximise the deal.

Nothing wrong with an obligation to buy if promoted. Don't see why we aren't happy with those terms. If there was an obligation to buy if we fail to gain promotion I could see an issue.

This thread is a up there with the biggest load of claptrap you’ve ever heard.

First, the deal was done.
Then, the deal was done but Saints are waiting for better offers.
Then, the deal was done but now there’s an obligation to buy which we won’t meet.
Then, the deal was done, there’s an obligation to buy which we won’t meet, but BBD’s preference is us.

How many more things can change after the deal was done?

Sunderland going for it got to be said. Enzo le Fee from Roma is a statement if they beat us the BBD then they’re serious contenders for automatics.

Let’s hope the new owners are able to compete against them, if not I’d I think we’d all be scratching our head if we still end up promoted.

Fair play to Sunderland. It sounds like they've bettered our offer by turning the "option to buy" into an "obligation to buy upon promotion."

Best case scenario for them, they beat us to his signature.

Worst case scenario, we beat them to his signature but they drag the deal into the final days and in doing so deprive us of his services for a handful of league games (or force us into going for someone else).

Win / win.

Don't really buy into all of this paper talk linking players all over the place and knowing the exact details of what the selling team are, or are not, asking for. We'd 100% be fine with this obligation given our last Prem outing with him - Soton will 100% be looking to sell, it really hasn't worked out for him there so this is not anything new. I can't see Sunderland being in front of us with BBD, unless they are putting large financial incentives for Soton and our approach is rejected.

But......the thing that is annoying me most about our whole approach is that we need players now and ready to play. Wilder has said at every opportunity that he knew we were light as of 1st Sept, so the general leadership will too. Most of the key players that we are looking at are not playing for their respective teams, at all (not just BBD). They'll not be at full tilt until early/mid March.

It just seems like a terrible way to go about a critical season and now 'kicking on' in the second half, given 60-70% of season will have gone. Maybe (probably) my lack of football know how on how all of this really works, but from a strategic perspective, it just appears pretty poor. I'm not all that nostalgic on players returning and am more about the here and now to get a job done (though for the purpose of this thread, BDD would be a welcome addition - with him having 3 games in Jan to get up to speed, not starting that process during Feb).

Thanks for listening. Maybe all of this will, or already has, happened. It's just a frustration I've had this all season and this window, to date, has compounded it.

What happened to all this willing to fund a permanent deal for Diaz after the takeover?

Looks like it was a load a bollocks at the moment, not even willing to purchase in the event of promotion?

They have Watson and Mundle who are both top championship quality left-sided forwards. Unless they see him as backup to Isidor.

We really don't know anymore what we'd be fine with.
Our owners have only been here 5 minutes so there's still a bit of mystery to there.

So I wonder exactly what Wilder was referring to when he said he had “incredibly positive talks” with the new owners?

Let’s hope this development is bollox?

If we cant afford it then we can’t afford it, no problem with that.

But at least move sharpish to who we can afford and get 3 bodies in minimum were in a state of need not want at the minute.

Don't get me wrong were miles ahead of where i thought we would be this season but don't throw it away cos weve had a good half a season.

Burney strengthened already

Sunderland strengthened already and looking to add more

Leeds already have strong squad good enough for promotion but will likely add 1 or 2

Stand still and WE WILL go backwards.

New owners really need to show some desire.

I don't think we will move on to other targets as you say though. Wilder will wait for them until the final few days and if it falls through, we'll scramble for a back-up.

Fine examples here of both ends of the "transfer window logic" spectrum.

Perhaps we have bigger ambitions than BBD if we go up. Just a thought.
Maybe, and probably definitely longer term, but we've still got to get there - he seems reasonably priced given last season if we do go up and I'd assume (hope) at championship level he will continue to be if it doesn't happen for us this season. If you believe the salary info kicking around, there are currently folk paid more than him at the club.

Blackburn fans don't rate him. He had a purple patch with us and now can't get into a team that is looking worse than ours was last season.
Not sure on this one.

If we lose our to Sunderland for BBD then that hands them a huge bonus to get BBD and dent us for our most desired forward target
