Is it even possible to replace a unit like Souttar?
Someone put a stat on about the aerial duals he won, and without me looking back at them for.the exact percentage, no, you can't replace him. I think we can get our plan B or even C when it comes to a midfielder and even striker, but for Souttar's replacement I really hope.the board back Wilder and get his number 1 target

It was 80% which was a good 10+% better than the divisions other better defenders.

Sure Anel was 55%

I just hope the board look at this Centre half from forest, I think a loan to buy with a guaranteed amount on promotion is 10m the figure ?
Worth it if we achieve promotion Centre half with premier experience and a good replacement for souttar

Is it even possible to replace a unit like Souttar?

The short answer is no, he's the perfect fit for our system at the moment.

There are a few similar candidates, all good players in their own right but none of them offer all of the things that Souttar does.

Jake O'Brien - about as tall but not as big...still very young and no idea if Everton would let him leave on loan.

Ashley Phillips - almost as big, but nowhere near as good defensively.

Jake Cooper - shitbag.

Then there are others like Darling, Omobamidele, Dunne etc who are arguably as good defensively but nowhere near as big and imposing.

Souttar really has all the attributes we need...huge, strong, quick for his size, confident with the ball, good in the air and hard as fuck.

Replacing him is impossible, but there are options to fill the position with an equally good (if very different) player.

Very big shoes to fill

So it is impossible to replace a 26 year old PL reserve player who's played the vast majority of his time at Championship/League 1 level?

Come on, give yourselves a shake. Yes, I like Souttar and he's been excellent for us overall, but irreplaceable?? Look at clubs like Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth..... they thrive on having replacements planned and scouted for their prominent players who they know will look to move on when the right opportunity arises. In our case of course, the Shirecliffe Sniper paid a Xmas visit to the Lane and did his stuff - but hey that's the life of being a Blade.

Souttar was a good fit for us, but we are where we are, so let's be positive and look how we might be able to get an even better fit!

I agree

As much as I liked Souttar, he was one of the players that would need to replace in the PL due to his pace and mobility.

I still wouldn't be surprised if Wilder guess for him in the summer though

i think if wilder is still in charge next summer we will be back in for souttar he wont forget the positive impact he had on us defensively

Would get a decent discount with him coming back from such a serious injury. I say why not, even if he might not be a first choice starter.

Going back to Choudhury I was speaking to a Leicester fan in the Gym this morning who really rates him and like Souttar and Cannon, can't understand why they appear to have fallen out of favour at The King Power. He did say if we do sign Choudhury we have got an excellent grafter....he also said however that he would imagine a fee north of £10m. If that's the case, I can only see a loan with an obligation dependent upon promotion, whether such a deal would help with Leicester's PSR issues who knows?

He’s homegrown so it would

Agree that Souttar is irreplaceable. In addition to the important qualities that you listed, he also has a great character, and if questioned he would tell you how happy he was as a blade! 😉

How long is he predicted to be out for - or when is he expected to be back playing? 6-9 months reasonable?

No idea on his injury rehab timetable, just ‘out for the season’.

I really like the guy and his character. He ticks all the boxes and he is exactly the kind of blade the club needs. He has presence too, which is worth any flaws he might have in EPL pace. Others can do the fancy stuff, but no one plays with such calm presence and reassurance as Souttar. He will bring out the best in others too.

Fee was 5m with Watford on his loan. To. Buy
They didn't take it up

Just looked it up and all sites say 9 months for high impact sports so looking at September at earliest.

Souttar with a pacey centre back sweeping up behind might work....although Leicester clearly thought it wouldnt

You rang?

Imho, he’s not irreplaceable, but he will be difficult to replace

What we might lose in physical presence we may gain in pace and mobility?

We’ll see

You rang?

This is the sort of players we should be looking at ! These days 8m is a drop in the ocean of money flowing through football, potential to be sold for 20m+ if he does well

You rang?

2 red cards in 11 games is ramos/ pepe territory, but if he's half the player of any of those two I'm all for it 😀, i mean the FA hate us as it is and we are a bunch of cloggers causing trouble in nearly every game, so he'd fit well in.

I'd like to leave Anel on the right side of the pairing to be honest as he contributes more with going down the right and interchanging with whoever is at right wing back when the game is stretched or if were pushing for a goal. if he plays left side of a pair you lose that.

Trouble is not only do we need a new centre back ideally they need to be left footed and predominantly play LCB.

I like Jimmy Dunne if it was my choice but hes right footed which pushes anel to the left.

I thought we should have gone for Warislav Krejki 18 months ago. 6'4" CB, aerially dominant, mobile, left footed, right age (25) and a leader. Went from Sparta Prague to Girona for 8m euro in July. Only played half their games this season so may not be fully working out for him there.

Fair enough. Your wording of “difficult to replace” is probably much better than my “irreplaceable”. Given other opinions on his injury, we might be better waiting until the next JTW, and look at his playing situation and potential recovery process again. GLTTL.
