Well played Plymouth

On a post designed to give plymouth a bit of credit, you decided to bash United ...
We are top of the championship....
I guess you wasn't around in the 80s ...

Wah, wah, wah. Stop whining you big fucking baby. I was there when you were śtill semen so don't play the bigger Blade with me you fucking balloon.

Thought it was interesting how they targeted Gilchrist, knowing Rak Saki was not helping him much. They looked like a side that had been coached well and had a plan which was not what I was expecting from the fat granny shagger. They ran out of ideas though once wilder tightened up with the subs.
Yep, every team has done this since the Wednesday game. We need a plan B.

We were atrocious but still give credit to Plymouth. They were the better side, looked organised, had a bit of pace about them and created some decent chances. I’m assuming they don’t play like that every week because they’d be higher up the league but you can’t fault a bottom 3 side playing top of the league away from home on that performance.

Plymouths system, style if play and gameplay was good. They had players who were athletic and pretty good without the ball. With the ball the players are just not good enough, when they got into our half they were dire. The players looked average league one.

Why do we need a plan B, when plan A has us winning 10 on the bounce? We are being surprisingly needy if just winning every match is no longer good enough! Sure, it wasn’t fluid footy yesterday but it was good enough!

3rd game in 6 days, enforced changes and still won in 2nd gear

Moore back a bonus, can beat half of championship teams with just Hamer and any 10 others
It certainly looks that way

For a team well clear at the top we are poor in many areas - almost every team we play must think , WTF - how are these lot top ?

Imo

Won’t last

Plymouth couldn’t believe their luck when a very passive SUFC team (in a seasonal gesture) gifted them possession for large periods of the game…Unfortunately for them… they were shit and couldn’t take advantage of the situation

We were awful yesterday. No getting away from it and Wilder said the same himself. But we’ve been much better than that all season. At home, I can only think of Sunderland who bossed us for periods. We’ve been dominant in every other match.

Away from home is more of a concern. But we were fantastic against the likes of Blackburn and Millwall, both decent sides.

Our performances haven’t been as good as our results, but I think it’s just as likely that performances improve as it is that results drop off, given the team mentality, the fact they are young and developing, and Wilder is a past-master at this kind of scenario. I also think it’s clear where we can improve in Jan, probably more so than others around us. Obviously that’s board/takeover dependent though.

I’m cautiously optimistic. Many more displays like yesterday and I’ll start to worry.

Because we score more than the opposition

The benefit of keeping a clean sheet is you only have to score 1 to collect 3 points.....we are not the first team to stumble on this magical idea

And you’re right

I get all that - obviously

But when you read the comments of other clubs before they play us , many,if not all , are expecting a truly tough game as they are playing the league leaders / recent prem team .

However , quite a few - perhaps too many tbh - reflect their experience after the event as - meh 🫤- who the fk was that and what the fk was that ?

We are - imo - a real head scratcher of a nut job as we are winning but the performances are - well - very underwhelming

Firstly I would like to say well done last Saturday, I was happy that it didn't go as badly as expected with our football just a few days previously was suicidal.
On Rooney, despite the media his job has not been under any risk. Let me ask this, would you be top if you had up to 10 players in your 25 man squad out injured. At the moment it's not a fair assessment on him. January will be the telling time for us with basically the main front players back. (Whittaker, cissoko and tijani). Also funds being available with an investor coming in currently undergoing efl suitability.

Rooney decided that his team should play the Manchester United way, it wont work for them as they dont have enough quality players to play the Manchester United way.

Exactly this. Put them in League 1 with these tactics and these players and I think they thrive. But at this level their opponents are picking them off at will. The fact we didn’t do that is our failing.

I hope Plymouth stay up, but it’s a mistake if they think Saturday’s game showed them the way forward.

YOUR MAKING OUT WEVE BEEN POOR IN MORE MATCHES THAN WEVE BEEN GOOD , WHICH IS NOT TRUE

we have won due to quality of players doing the hardest thing , being consistant , consistantly defend well, consistantly counter attacking with pace and clinically converting chances, teams these day dont play champagne football , they game manage , make the most of spreading our ability over 90 minutes and taking our chances, Burnley are adept at squeezing out results on very little possession. We eke out results now in games we would have drawn or lost,

We have to humbley , praise the win , like strikers who score winning goals say it not about me but the result , Like TYRESE V OWLS, take the three points and enjoy the league table, not worry whether we look like Brazil at their best,,, no one in the championship has ever done that

Don't hold your breath or put too much faith in a new investor. We've been in limbo for years, so everything we achieve is even more of a surprise, and indicative of good work from the manager, coaching staff and players.

Regarding Rooney, what's encouraging is that he clearly has the players onside still, fighting for him. Getting Phelan in was a good move, for sure. But I'm guessing there will come a time when the pressure grows.

Worst case, if you do get relegated, would you want Rooney to be given the chance to re-build and try to get you promoted?

we are currently averaging 2.2 points per game ,47 from 21 games
all those teams weve beaten ie most of them saying post match they (us) werent that good
well why didnt they beat us

post match fans are bitter when theyve lost
only a few will admit to losing fair and square
millwall fans in the main realised theyd been outplayed

Ill take another 13 really scrappy 1-0 wins at home and 4 against the run of play smash and grabs to get to 96 points

Long term i don't trust the investment but the initial purchase of shares will go into the club. The chairman will take it as a dilution of his share value and keep the money within the club. Last seasons accounts have just been announced and shows we lost 2.5 million Last year. It's quite amusing really as it also shows 10 million in the bank and over 5 million spent on infrastructure.
Rooney that's an interesting questions. I am in the camp that he was the right decision. I say this because as a club we couldn't afford a proven championship manager so the choice was a lower league manager or somebody trying to prove himself. So Rooney with his background was the right decision. Yes the question has been asked is he linked to the investor. Guess it will come out in the future either way. I do think though he has to learn to adapt to the players abilities at our level.

Just looked at Blades and Plymouths fixtures from weekend of 7/8 December to 14th December to try and understand Plymouths apparent freshness. Blades played away at WBA on Sunday 8th, Plymouth had their match postponed, Plymouth played at home Tuesday 10th December, Blades away at Millwall Wednesday 11th December, so Plymouth had an extra 24 hours recovery and their match involved zero travelling, contrast with United who had two gruelling away games. At least, for me, this goes some way to explain our non performance last Saturday

Apologies for stating the obvious and to those for who realised it before I did.

I wish you all the best for the rest of the season. Fantastic away support and an excellent performance to boot. All the best and look forward to the return game at yours.

plymouth were far better than their league position points to, they played attractively for periods of the game, just lacked the clinical edge winning United games, dont know why but our fans are offering subdued support and expecting champagne exhibition football,, to quote Delia Smith come on fans where are you

try pumping in some pashion , see if they dont play better

Well played and good support on Saturday.

I had to laugh when I heard them sing “dirty northern bastards !” I thought ……. living in Plymouth, who would you sing dirty southern bastards to ? 😆
