That Birmingham City and Villa were both at home last night, It would never happen in Sheffield .

We have actually played on the same day at home in recent seasons, albeit think it in an early round of the cup, if memory serves.

Fixtures being moved around with Villa in the Champions League meant it was really hard to avoid. It's also why the Villa game had an 8.15 kick off as staggering the kick offs was the police's terms for it.

Aston is way worse than those areas.

Wouldn't want to walk around Aston in the daytime, never mind at night!
I worked 2 days/week in Aston for a few years and we would regularly go for a walk round the block at lunchtimes. Never a problem.
Campanile & Premier Inn hotels a tad rough but again, never had a problem staying there.

I was exaggerating somewhat, but still not a place I'd want to spend too much time in.

The worst part of Brum for me is Handsworth, the area around Soho Road is just so god damn depressing.

First time I went to Villa was for our 1-0 defeat in November 1993. I stood on the Holte End with a Villa supporting mate. Stayed overnight and it was quite lively because Birmingham had been at home on the same day (I think they lost to Pompey) and there was some scrapping. It said in their version of the Green Un that the two hadn’t been at home on the same day for 15 years.

Pubs in Birmingham are grim. They are usually enormous with not enough chairs. I have never seen us win at Villa, Birmingham or WBA. A draw at Villa is the only point.

2nd round of the FA Cup, 3 December 2011. We beat Torquay, they beat Aldershot town. Both games kicked off at 3 and attracted about 10,000 fans

The Lane and the Sty are further apart than Villa Park and St Andrews.
