How many calls do you reckon Nige had today inquiring about our players, other than DW and MW.

How many calls do you reckon Mr Clough has had from other clubs 'clamouring' to aquire any of our players on loan, apart from Williams and Westlake?
I don't think the phone will have been red hot today! :)

More importantly, how many calls do you think he was allowed to make? I'm guessing none. Anyone any idea how much the Prince agreed to invest in return for McCabe selling half the club to him for £1? Nothing seems to have changed to me.

He's probably bought the ground for £1, with McCabe getting the contract to build whatever he decides to build on it

Even after Westlake and Williams left we can still play a full 11 v 11 game with subs out of our first team squad. There's too many players at the Lane, no point bringing more in.

Team 1 (4-4-2)
Long, McMahon, Collins, Maguire, White, Brandy, Doyle, McGinn, Flynn, Porter, Miller

Team 2 (4-3-3)
Howard, Hodder*, Kennedy, Hill, McGinty, Lappin, Baxter, Cuvelier, Murphy, King, Taylor

Subs
Willis, Coady, Johns, Bunn, Di Girolamo, Smith

*Hodder plays as we've no other right backs now Westlake has left.

What's the bet if they played each other in a match the score would be 0-0 ?

Too early to say and to be fair the Prince never promised us a bottomless pit of cash to throw about.

We've recklessly spent money recently: Baxter, King, Taylor and perhaps even Cuvelier (but I think he'll come good) so you can understand why the board would ask that the squad is significantly reduced first before they reach for the chequebook again.

July 2014 cannot come quick enough. If at that time the board instruct NC to sign players for little or no transfer fee/low wages and still expect him to mount a promotion challenge, only then we should question the clubs ambition.

Precisely. I'm afraid Deano, like many Blades, suffers from premature exasperation. Why on earth would HRH get involved with SUFC if he had no intention to make any difference?

In any event, he's already invested. Baxter and Cuvelier would not be here otherwise.

Let's review it come September 2014, eh?

Our squad is too big as it is, which causes it's own problems. Bringing players on top of that would more likely make it worse.

If the Prince's money wasn't real does anyone really think we would have such a big squad and still have Harry and George?

I am not sure what Deano's agenda is but he brings the Prince money up every week

Is it time to ask why the takeover was announced the day after the transfer window deadline yet? ;)

I'm fairly sure it's the first time I've brought it up - but as usual you don't let facts get in the way.

As for Harry & George - you are not seriously suggesting we have turned down offers for them are you? Both are League 1 standard players who need to improve.

I agree our squad is too big - it's the lack of quality I'm concerned about.

Heaven Forfend!

But yes, he clearly stumped up money for those two.

Yes patience is a virtue not found in great abundance around S2.

In retrospect getting Clough in at the end of the winsow has let him see the true worth of the squad he was bequeathed, he is well aware of the task ahead of him , finding new players will be childs play compared to unloading what he clearly sees as inadequate squad members.
The scale of revamp will be epic , and we may most likely not get rid of as much as we would like , but a 25 %
switcheroo would see us through, as we could eek a bit from the dross as stand bys. We have to utilise around 40% of our current squad , in my eyes and evacuate the rest, in time, but you cant tell players they are useless in case you need them to fill a vacant spot through injury or suspension, its not that easy as to say , your shit on yer bike son, which many seem to think is an option
Lets not forget we started with Clough , after being left rooted to the bottom with zero prospects of improvement, now theres little green shoots, that need nurturing , a bit of feed some manure as well wouldnt go amiss

I think the phone never stops ringing all day long ...

... other clubs calling us to laugh at us for taking their surplus crap of their hands!

;)

Big crowds and a Prince on board - and that's the level of our investment?

Were scuffling around the lower reaches in League 1 ATM.
Were unlikely to attract the better players of this world just yet.

Watch us go though when we get to the Championship.
