beat me to it! Leon wasn't great either, once he'd signed final contract, although we were prem by then I guess.Brayford on a permanent
James Beattie the 2nd time
He's still got time!Has nobody said Brewster?
Brewster.Has nobody said Brewster?
Bit unfair that - during his time in Sheffield he won seven world titles.Ian Rush. He was one of the outstanding strikers of his generation, and yet when he played briefly for us he was essentially a human lamppost.
Other (dis)honourable mentions include, but are definitely not limited to, Steve Finnieston, Brian Howard, Steven Hendrie, Samir Carruthers, Danny Cullip, and the latest in a long line of dross, Ivo Grbić.
The Sale of Leonard and Evans freed up enough cash too sign Norwood, Dowell, Madine and Hogan I believe. which makes him a legend in my eyes.Ryan Leonard. The amount of time pissing about getting him and he barely played before he got sold again
The Striker?James Wilson. I don't have enough expletives to express how much I hate that cunt
Paul Shaw. Not sure it was his fault as I think we played him as a lone striker with our then direct approach.
Leon Britton was widely regarded as the best ball playing midfielder at the the timeTo flip reverse 1973Blade 's thread. Who have we signed over the years that never lived up to the hype?
I'll start with a few:
- Patrick Suffo
- Leon Britton
- Ahmed Fahti
- James Harper
- Lee Hendrie
Steven Hendrie had an excuse though, he was a snooker player…Ian Rush. He was one of the outstanding strikers of his generation, and yet when he played briefly for us he was essentially a human lamppost.

Goes without saying reallyHas nobody said Brewster?
To be fair, both of those suffered with injuries. Young was actually decent when he played and I'll never forget the overhead kick winner he scored against Oxford.Alan Young and Steve Finnieston.
After those two I stopped getting excited about signings until I'd actually seen them kick a few balls for United.
