Does anyone else think that Keith Edwards' "expert summation" now actually gets in the way of real match commentary. He seems to harp on about the same things every match, but during the match when listeners like me would prefer a description of the game's action as it happens.

I do respect Keith as a quality ex-player and as a person. I also agree with most of his views about how the game should be played, but please not instead of live match commentary.

He should perhaps have a slot before the match and/or after the match to pass on his observations and opinions. Better still, he should have a weekday slot on P&G when I do not listen.

Is it just me?

No it's not just you. All we want is to listen to the game.He does like the sound of his own voice!

He likes the sound of his own voice, but... He's absolutely right to pick up these points. Over the years he's said the same things and they've not improved so it's not really his fault, he's just doing what he's paid to do.

The games when he's not on are dull and lifeless. At least he injects something into the commentary.

I like the way that he bangs on about a player for most of the game and just when he's at the end of his tether he tries to predict what that player will do, only for the player to then do the opposite as he's speaking.

I thought today he was good and was quite positive

A lot of what he says is correct, but I am finding him increasingly irritating for the way he keeps banging on and on about the same things. "What disappoints me is ..." seems to be his current favourite phrase.

He's becoming another Boycott.

Nothing to do with KE but, listening to yesterday's commentary (or at least most of it - I switched over to the F1 qualifying from time to time) the name 'Coady' was rarely mentioned. Did he have a quiet game or is he one of those players who does a lot of his work largely unseen?

I deliberately didn't listen to the commentary...Keith is a Legend, but I find his constant nitpicking on what players should and shouldn't have done quite tedious and negative.
I know he's trying to be informative and calling it how he see's it,but it's become hard to listen.I remember when Reg did it for a while and it seemed a lot more positive. Can't beat being at the game to see for yourself...some of the commentaries have been terrible lately, especially when Weir was in charge.

To be fair to KE, most of the football has been terrible as well. Must be hard to sound interested and positive when you're watching crap.

KE just says what he sees and if its a poor game of football I would expect him to say just that.

I have heard him praise us a lot when we have been doing well but that has been rare this season.

If we have to listen to RS then better to hear it as it is rather than Staton and Giddins making excuses most of the time - At least Keith Edwards gives an honest opinion !

I agree with most of he opinions that he broadcasts, but I think that it should not get in the way of the kick by kick commentary. There seems to be 80% opinion and 20% commentary.

Have you listened to one of the "cheap" commentaries when there is only one person doing it? They are incredibly dull!

I like Edwards, he's played professional football for a long time and knows the game inside out !
He's also honest and if the game is poor he says so !

I think he sees the game right and I usually agree with his opinions when I hear him after the game. There isn't a lot of good stuff happening on the pitch these days to talk about, not for 90 mins anyway. Although he was a bit biased when his mate Adams was the Gaffer.

One point, his title is 'Expert summariser' not commentator.

I totally agree with your comments but I would rather hear about what's happening on the pitch during the game. Give expert summaries before, after or in breaks in the game
