I don't think it's in our nature to "grass," but both his incidents should have been straight red cards.

The first one was pretty horrendous. He's intentionally tried to elbow Anel, with force, to the back of the head.

Have to say, I do like a shithouse and he looks a player.
Would be amusing if he went the way of other "star" Coventry's players and ended up at the Lane.

I find myself really disliking Coventry.
It's becoming a bit of a weird rivalry (akin to the long-running one we had with Ipswich 15-20 years ago).

without VAR , this would be impossible for ref to see
Even with VAR , player is actually falling so very difficult to say it's deliberate
(although , having seen the way Basset was playing , you & I both know it was from the slo-mo)
Would this even be spotted by VAR man in real time ? I didn't see it in real time , did you ?

"Squeeze" to back of neck in full view of ref - I don't believe this was anything much , nor was the shouting.

But I don't know what Basset was booked for - was it the tackle or was it the shouting/neck-squeeze ?

Hope CW went to ask ref to clarify after game

That curfew has been lifted now. Though I'm still banned from Hopton, Idridgehay, and any birding at Carsington.
 

He looks like the kind of well heeled chap you'd find frequenting the local Jack Fultons. He comes out with some cheap cider, a loaf of bread, some pan scrubbers and a can of lynx

The ref didn't blow for a foul on Anel, he gave a throw-in, so Bassette wasn't booked for a "foul" because the ref never gave one for that tackle...

I watched the reply and it showed that he was just ON SIDE. It was a great cross that landed perfectly splitting Souttar and Anel.

People think the finish was great but I think there was quite a lot of luck. Their player was stretching and just trying to his foot on the ball. He couldn’t really shoot but his leg made contact and it deflected in giving Cooper no chance.
 
I think the real sickener is that it is a straight red card and a 3 match ban.

Bassette has played an absolute blinder on Ahmedhodzic and is guilty of 100% shithousery without a doubt, but as mattbianco1 says I very much doubt there is any action that would be taking retrospectively.

As I said last night on another thread is character let’s him down significantly. Beneath his cockiness and shithousery is actually a really raw and talented football player with bags of potential!

Agree…..it was just bad sportsmanship deliberately trying to wind up an opposition player then massively over reacting, rolling around in the floor clutching his head when there was a small push from Anel.

It was handbags really but the ref had no choice. Notice the reaction of the Cov players too, sprinting towards Anel resulting in most of the players squaring up and pushing each other.

We’ve got form for mass pushing scenes. If it got out of hand we’d have faced another large mass brawl fine like what happened against Wrexham, Portsmouth and there was another match too,
 
Was it Bassette who also punched the ball away in frustration when on the floor in the box when he wasn’t given a penalty. I thought it was him at the time and that should have been a yellow card for him, but it wasn’t noticed by the ref, I think that was Anel who cleared it at the time. If so there were plenty of opportunities for him to have got a first and second yellow, even before the Anel incident.

It was. It was deliberate handball. It was also in the penalty box, so straight red 😉😉😉

Yes, the sad thing is, he is obviously a good player. I was admiring his positional play and movement off the ball. Very good at finding space.

It’s well known that Anel has a short fuse and is easily baited. They did their homework on him, and this was probably Bassette’s remit from the start, to get under his skin and rattle him.
Worked a charm really and winning is everything by fair means or foul these days.
In some ways you have to admire how he did it without getting a red himself.
That sliding forearm to the face was quite a piece of work.

Based on yesterday’s antics, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near Utd.
The sort of player I really don’t like. Dishes it out, falls all over at the slightest hint of a touch, snidey fouls/digs, cheats to gain advantage.
Nah - not for me, thanks.
