Been too many let downs to remember. I remember few seasons ago though when that Jean Calve lad banged an absolute screamer in against Preston at the lane and after the game telling all the lads that he would ber an absolute superstar and how I imagined big things to come from him etc etc.......Where did he end up again? Bench, Bench, Disappeared!

Jean Calve, French RB who came on loan initially and you're right he did look classy. Speaking of which, does anyone remember 'Nicolas Weber'?

I did originally write this, but didn't see him play other then African Cup of Nations 2006.
Arturo Lupoli. Really wanted us to sign him.

Don't recall much of him playing to be honest so can't have got that many games for us. If I recall he was injured for quite a bit wasn't he? But that said when he was at the club he was up against Wayne Quinn for the full back spot and he was a quality player on his day and was rightly a favourite of Warnocks.

Weber was just your 'OK' player. Didn't offer nothing going forward, did an OK job defending so very forgetful. The only reason I remember him is because as a kid I asked for his autograph, possibly the only autograph he'll ever do!

Calve absolutely fits the bill. The goal he scored was an absolute screamer which signalled his fade into obscurity.

Sun Jihai. I thought he could have been a terrific defensive midfielder, but after a few games at right back (and a couple of quality red-card offences), he dropped off the radar.

His red card offence in the home game against Coventry was the most exquisite execution of a dropkick I have ever seen.

John Francis. All i can remember about him is he wasn't Deane or Agana. And he scored the winner in the 5-4 match with Brighton. That's about it really.
Peter Duffield. Always liked him, can't remember him doing owt. Cept maybe scoring a hat trick in a cup game? possibly? yeah i dunno.

Des Hamilton who was on loan from Newcastle? Good answer, had completely forgotten about him and he was good for us. Didn't he fill the void of us selling someone? Graham Stuart perhaps?

Martin Smith. Scored about 10 to 15 goals for us in the first half of the season and was promptly sold to Huddersfield and did nothing before seemingly falling off the face of the earth. I think he was potting around in the lower divisions after that but not sure.

I remember those times. I know we have always been a selling club but we were literally selling anything that moved around that time. I seem to remember Olivier Tebily being signed, playing about 7 or 8 games and being sold to Celtic.
Anyone that showed any sort of promise was sold off at the first opportunity. It's still a long running joke to our kid....whenever anyone scores, he texts me with the words "sell him"

Injury did for him at Huddersfield. Was one hell of a player until he got embroiled in a move at the end of his contract if memory serves me.
Andy Campbell was one I remember. Bruno has already been done and I expected great things from Suffo because Warnock announced him like he was the next Pele.

In fairness we got a good return on Tebily who was a bit of a maverick and not much more.

Len de Goey , dutch master ,was going to be our Hullit , turned out to be a tulip
John Ebrell. Played about 45 mins and then never played again through injury. Cost a fair bit at the time but actually looked a bargain for that length of time. Think he had the injury when we bought him and that's the only reason we could afford him. Bit of a gamble but by god he could have been good for us.

John Connaughton - played well for Man U in the 1-1 draw at BDTBL in April 1972. Never played one good game for us.
Gary Jones - on loan from Bolton in February 1975. Was going to be the new Martin Chivers but Furphy decided that he didnt "fit in" with the lads
Peter Dornan - highly rated at Linfield when he signed for us in late 1976. Left us after only few weeks as he thought professional football wasnt for him
