I live in Singapore and have been in Asia for the last 15 or so years. Watching the home derby match and not being at the ground is usually absolutely horrible. TBH I find watching most of our home matches online is way more nerve-wracking than being there in person. It’s obviously psychological BS, but when you’re in the ground you somehow feel you can impact the game. Weirdly I don’t feel the same about away games. I guess because a) the expectation is lesser and b) you’re more used to watching away games on tv.

Anyway, all this is to say that, for some reason, I’m feeling strangely zen about tomorrow. Might be something to do with confidence in the team (although I think Wednesday are more dangerous than many of us are giving them credit for) but I also think there’s less pressure on this one. Pre season, many neutrals (and blades fans) had both us and them top half / play off fringes. Would have been a lot on it if that’s the case. But wherever the result tomorrow, it’s not going to be season defining for either team. Also, I feel like we have less to prove now after the last 6 years. In 17/8 it felt like sliding doors (which proved to be true). Doesn’t feel like that now, even if they win.

not too far from you then!

Never felt the same for me, watching from abroad. Time difference (+7 and +8) didn't help, but mainly because I am way more of an in-person passionate sports spectator than tv. I watch loads of sports on tv but never get really fired up. Probably doesn't help when you are the only person you know who supports your team or a non-prem team 🤣. No real banter at all. Will see if it's the same when I next move abroad.

This is the issue I have, my eldest is the same. He really misses BDTBL.

TV football is shite and no substitute for the real thing.

Don't anymore

But I remember living in New York in the league 1 years, having to find dodgy Radio Sheffield streams to listen to the matches at 7/8am in the morning. Did manage to watch the pigs lose in the playoff final in my final day in NYC before I start a road trip for a month and a half.

Watching from the comfort of my settee here in Lanzarote. Same time zone as UK. Promises to be around 28° so will have patio doors wide open. The neighbours have been warned.
I Hate these matches. Hopefully my firestick will perform without buffering.

Worth noting that (as far as I know) there are no other TV games at the same time, and it's on Sky, so should be on in most Brit / Irish pubs all over the world.

11.30pm for me which isn't the worst. I'll have a kip before and after as gotta be up at 7am on Monday morning so tmrw will be tiring anyway. Not too nervous tbh. Used to affect me more when I went I actually went to the games.

Agree. I try to get back whenever I can and I took my 6 year old a couple of years ago to his first game so he at least has a feel for it. There are only a few things that I really miss about the UK, family and friends being the main one, but going to the Lane with my dad is definitely up there in the top 3.

Similar for me, Blades games with my son, daughter, dad and nephew is a big miss for me. The shit of last season meant I didn’t miss it immediately this time but my youngest will be old enough in a few years as well so it’s something he’ll likely miss out on.

Nothing else compares to watching The Blades in sporting terms in my opinion.

I'm in rural south China (kick off 8.30pm for me) - still trying to find somewhere to watch it. Doesn't look likely, but I'll record a youtube film just in case I find somewhere. I went into the nearest town yesterday where there are bars to ask around, but nothing was anything like a sports bar. Might end up watching it at home on some internet link if I can find one, which is a shame. It's one of the rare games that's at a reasonable hour, most are too late at night for me.
