I live in Singapore and have been in Asia for the last 15 or so years. Watching the home derby match and not being at the ground is usually absolutely horrible. TBH I find watching most of our home matches online is way more nerve-wracking than being there in person. It’s obviously psychological BS, but when you’re in the ground you somehow feel you can impact the game. Weirdly I don’t feel the same about away games. I guess because a) the expectation is lesser and b) you’re more used to watching away games on tv.
Anyway, all this is to say that, for some reason, I’m feeling strangely zen about tomorrow. Might be something to do with confidence in the team (although I think Wednesday are more dangerous than many of us are giving them credit for) but I also think there’s less pressure on this one. Pre season, many neutrals (and blades fans) had both us and them top half / play off fringes. Would have been a lot on it if that’s the case. But wherever the result tomorrow, it’s not going to be season defining for either team. Also, I feel like we have less to prove now after the last 6 years. In 17/8 it felt like sliding doors (which proved to be true). Doesn’t feel like that now, even if they win.
