My first competitive Sheffield derby match was the 3-2 win in October 1970 and since then, I have attended every competitive Sheffield derby matches apart from the 1-1 draw in April 1980 (I was playing in a football tournament at Kortrijk in Belgium) and the 2-0 defeat in the League Cup 1st round 1st leg in August 1980 (I was playing cricket that day).

I missed the September 2002 defeat at the sty as I was away on an Hawaiian cruise to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary.

(shameless holiday boast)

I've also missed one or two others including bouncing day when half a dozen of us had a great day in Bowers Tap in Leeds.

I’ve attended every one since 2000. First one was the 1-1 at the Lane in 93, can’t really remember much about it. Didn’t go to the away game.

I did go to the 3-2 win at Hillsborough in the following pre season though. Think Dane Whitehouse scored late to win the game. Missed that though, went with Tony Currie’s football in the community in a minibus and he had a habit of leaving 5/10 mins before the end to beat the traffic.

Went all those games you mention but not been to Hillsborough since our 2-1 win there with Asaba scoring.
The Tudor winner in 1970 is my stand out memory after we’d contrived to surrender a 2-0 lead.
Didn’t Bill Punton also score us a winner some time ?

I have since we played pigs in the FA cup 1960 only 64 years 😏 we played pigs off the pitch but lost 2-0
Derek Wilkinson scored em both and Ron Springett had a great game for them

I only really remember one in my life (2-0 at BDTBL in Nov '91.

I did also go to both the 1-1 results in 92-93. Watching the highlight reel from the draw at the Lane, do you think those two challenges from Hirst and Bright would be straight reds today? The first (Hirst 00:29) was surely a red even back in those dinosaur times - two footed, flying in off the ground, studs showing. Did he even get booked?

Bright (1:18) did get booked. Looks less dangerous and more purely cynical. Think if I saw that today, fairly high chance of it being a red.

Watching that video I would have sworn Hirst’s goal (very little backlift - hit it early and caught Kelly out) was at the kop end. Can’t trust your memory.

My first derby game at Bramall Lane was in the County Cup. I think we won 2:0.
First in the league was losing 4:0 at Hillsborough and then 1:1 at Bramall Lane.
Due to moving away from Sheffield only been to a few since then.

I was at both those games you missed. But I haven't seen us at Hillsborough since that League Cup game. I was there Boxing Day '79 too. I've been to most of the derby games at the Lane. And the Wembley game. Missed a couple. They are not that regular! And in recent years not enjoyable. I think the 2.0 (early 90s) and 3.1 (Michael Brown) victories at the Lane are the standouts.

My first was Boxing day and was there end of season for a 2-1 victory in county cup Sabbela and Wiggan scoring. My last appearance there was when Tonge and Akinbuyi scored . My first at the Lane was a county cup game carnt remember year or score possibly 1976 just remember being on Bramall Lane end

actually just remembered im wrong went to a county cup final at swillsbro early 60s i think won 4 - 1 if my memory serves me well enough silent will correct me if im wrong

My first derby was September 1966 at Hillsborough 2-2
I think Birchenall scored em both. The blond bombers as they were named started ripping it up.
It all went wrong selling Jones and then Birchenall was the breakup of our young squad and as usual we ended up relegated .
History has been repeated times many in my time ! Are the new owners going to change our future ? Time will tell .!
