Ticketing pricing

There must have been some serious shit gone on behind the scenes for United to effectively ban all new fans from buying a ticket; if they’re under restrictions why can’t they say? Derby Country was 300 LP restriction as well.
I’ve only ever heard of this happening for Pigs matches before, maybe Leeds possibly at a push, but no mark Stoke and Derby County? WTF?

The first time I remember seeing it for nondescript games was the first Champ season under Wilder.

By the sounds of what Sheffsteel said, it is possible for new fans to get a ticket, it’s just not as easy going on the website and buying one.

I’m sure if someone went into the ticket office and made a decent enough case, they’d get a ticket.
I just don't get the approach, why does there have to be some kind of nudge-nudge-wink-wink approach to buying a first-time ticket?
Casual/newbie fans are probably just to take at face value the message supporters must have 300 Loyalty Points and not think "yeah but I'll give them a call because they'll probably sell me one".
If the Club is under some kind of restriction by SAG / SYP etc, then it would do them favours to be open about it - I've never known them just off their own bat to decide to not want to sell tickets to people.

I went down to the ticket office last Thursday. to get tickets against wendy. Previous monday i phoned the ticket office explaining my Brother and Sister in law are visiting me from Sydney Aussie. they would like to go to watch Utd v wendy. first thing I was asked are they on our database and have they got the point required in order to get tickets. No they live 10,500 miles away.I then asked I had a season Ticket upto last season. But now I have a senior membership card and I buy my ticket for every home game as soon as they are on sale. They are both pensioners like me. and supported the Blades for over 60 years like me. they live over seas the only difference. then the Lady told me to request tickets and give details of your family members date of birth etc. then send a email to the ticket office. I sent email the same day got a reply the next day confirming the info is good and you can buy three senior tickets for that game. I went down to the ticket office no one waiting to be served. Here is my senior membership card they have put a note on my details permission to buy three senior Tickets. I was told no note on your info giving permission to buy three Tickets, I did not like the tone of his voice he seemed delighted in telling me that. After a a pause for a few seconds i said I have the email on my phone showing the comfirmation. Here have a look on my phone, that took the clever cunts smile off his face. Take my phone to your manager now in a lower voice I did not shout at him. off he went with my phone waited for Five min. Thats okay Sir you can get your tickets £108 please I used my debit card of course. got the tickets so all is good today. bought my Oxford home ticket over the phone today. glad I dont after go to the ticket office again.

If it was Plymouth, then there aren’t going to be these restrictions in place, it’s just the way it is with certain clubs. It’s shite, but unfortunately the twats that can’t behave themselves make it more difficult for everyone else.

But not at Bramall Lane, where the game will be on Saturday?

No, I'm just giving examples from experience as to why it may be perceived as high risk - while I'm sure like with most clubs, the majority of fans will be fine, denying that the area (and its clubs) don't have a greater than average share of dickheads would be naive, at least in my eyes

How many casual newbie fans are really fancying a game against Stoke? As others have said it’s a bit shit but the restrictions are in place due to previous bad behaviour

In summary
Matchday Pricing is prohibitive
Obtaining tickets for one offs is prohibitive
The Loyalty point system is prohibitive.

This is by design , not oversight.

It's the clubs decision sadly .

and its the reason alongside pricing being too high that apart from the wendy game were never likely to sell out as for stoke they love a trip to sheffield and very rarely fail to sell all their allocation can remember them once bringing over 5k to the lane in the standing era

Maybe not just the clubs fault, look at how many more stewards are employed. Look at all the problems caused by fans on the kop standing in the wrong seat.

I think the policing powers that be have a big say in how things are done.

We’ve seen the powers flexing their muscles before.

Why is Stoke a high risk game.

I’m clued up enough to know they have have had their fair share of hoolies over the years but I’m not aware of any major disorder more recently.

Not wanting to turn this into a hooligan debate but a couple have mentioned in this thread that it’s been deemed as a high risk game

Always used to be tasty in the 70s and 80s v Stoke

Very much so , I'm not blaming anyone it's a decision the club have made to balance any number of issues .
I'm sure they fully understand that making it easier / less expensive would sell more tickets , it's thier choice not to do so .

Realise it's a bit off the subject but does anyone think that having no away fans at some matches is justified , just more trouble than it's worth ,more tickets for home supporters etc.
I can argue it both ways , just wondered if anyone had any thoughts .

It would be a sad day for Sheffield & the English game in general if that happened in my opinion. The rivalry is what makes these sort of games. Just watch the Duffy goal on the video from the home end at the sty, that’s what football is all about. No matter which side you’re on.

Their choice is undoubtedly affected by the input of outside agencies.

The Coppers Sheff Council and Sky are the ones who dictate everything that make is harder one way or another foe Sheff Utd supporters.
