Just arrived in Spain and set to miss my first game of the season... Been in a sports bar with other Blades in and supporters of Leeds, forest Burnley, Middlesbrough and Newcastle to name a few... No fuckin pigs thankfully. It was surprising how clued up everyone was on our club, but the the general opinion was we’ve never been a team with any balls, apart from the odd season and the odd game. No one particularly liked wilder but thought this seasons recruitment was good but his his team changes and substitutions was odd. Everyone mentioned how he sees other clubs being big clubs almost belittling us and said why would he do that, like his comments about Leeds, as we were about to play them. I’ll not mention the shirt sponsor or George Boldock reasoning for Fridays debacle...... Just thought I’d share

Tell the Leeds and Boro fans that their arses fell out in recent seasons when we went on to get promoted so it’s a bit rich of them to say we don’t have any balls!

Newcastle and Forest are financial basket cases and we will never be able to compete financially with them so it’s hard for them to see things from our perspective.

Or just tell them all to fuck off and smash pub up.

Maybe wait until Thursday before saying it to the Boro fans

Thought we were overly cautious but Leeds are a very good side as they showed during the game, they have the ability to adapt during games. It’s something that we struggle with but perhaps we’re able to control games better when we play our normal way.

We were poor but Leeds were very good and deserved the win, not sure Wilder said much more than this to be honest. Seems a bit dramatic on this forum since Friday but we don’t need to worry too much

I am a big believer in not repairing things that are not broken. The defence have been great all season why alter it now? Unless players are not fit I can not see the logic in it . Up front the guy who scored a brace in the last match is dropped but the striker who to be honest is a waste of space and can not hit a barn door gets picked every game and is not likely to be dropped . I think Wilder has done a great job under pressure but he got it so wrong at Leeds .Why go all defencive ? Blades never have been able to play on the back foot and come away with anything . We look a different outfit when playing on the front foot but having said that we don't have any strikers to take advantage of that .

It's a manager's job to understand how other clubs play, to watch their games and judge their strengths and weaknesses.

As fans, most of us spend 99% of our time focused on the Blades, and when we watch teams like Leeds and Pigs we are just desperate for them to lose.

Fans are then shocked that their manager is complimentary of the best team in the league, because despite not having watched them, we've decided they aren't all that (based on a few highlights and twitter banter).

He played to their strengths and played to our weaknesses. It’s 1 match,I really hope he doesn’t do a paste and copy tomorrow night,he would be a fool. Boro tore Leeds apart a few matches ago but my Boro relations say they have been well below par since.

Has it occurred to anyone that when the gaffer bigs up other clubs, it’s for very specific “mind games” reasons ?

Or even better than that, a thinly disguised taking the piss out of “massive” clubs that are legendary within their own fan bases (and only their own fan bases in many instances e.g. Leeds !) ?

Not lost on moi 😉👌.

Well someone should tell Wilder his 'mind game theory' isn't working!
He should tell Boro players they're all useless, and couldn't trap a bag of cement.
We might have a chance then !

Not working eh !!

Opinions are divided 😉.

Yeah he really showed Leeds with his “they’re a good team with good players” trick after they’d just tickled our bellies for 90 mins. I bet he’s living rent free inside their heads now.

Newsflash.

They are a good team.

With good players.

That played very well on the night.

They have to come to ours next year.

Absolutely no need for the bed wetters to get their knickers all in a twist in this moment.

No need at all 😃.

Correct on all counts, therefore he’s stating the truth rather than playing mind games or he thinks his post match interview will have a bearing on events next year?! I bet it didn’t even register with Leeds players.

Would you prefer he come out before the game with words digging the oppo out ?

Or after the game when we had been dicked stating they were lucky ?

Let me tell you one thing, and this is for sure. OUR gaffer plays a very clever game. Openly citing his affection for our supporters, requesting their noise and support, and bigging up our away following at every given opportunity.

In reality, he thinks the vast majority of our supporters don’t know their arse from their elbow when it comes down to matters of what goes on out there on the grass. He just doesn’t give a flying what you, I or anyone else might say or think about how he goes about his business.

I still think he was trying it on ahead of the game on Friday with a bit of reverse psychology. I really do.

No it didn’t work on the night, so you and others appear to have jumped on the “blame game” bandwagon.

Tactics wrong.
Team selection wrong.
Too much respect afforded to them.

All of which may be correct.

But it’s the gaffer, along with his management team that’s paid to get more calls right then wrong (accepting you are never gonna go all season unbeaten).

So far, he’s doing his job, and looking at the table, earning his keep more than adequately I would venture to suggest.

Now isn’t the time to go all football manager and in to “I know better” mode.

We don’t.

So don’t !!!

I'd say 6 in this league are bigger. His arse licking of Leeds was pretty astounding tbh.

There’s only 3 (Leeds, Sunderland both much bigger and Wednesday who just edge us in most stats) definitely bigger based on all the big club stats

and 3 (Derby, West Brom and Boro) in a similar ball park to us.

In his first tenure he'd often mention how much opposite players cost (he'd have a field day with brewster then!) I think the idea is to make the opposite look like they should have won making us the fighting underdogs, I presume that's what he is trying to do now?

But how far his Tonge was up Leed's arsenal is unforgivable.

His post match interview was piss poor in my opinion. I don’t care whether he wants to play mind games or not, if he thinks they work then he’s more than welcome to play them.

His approach on Friday was to absolve himself of responsibility for the negative formation and tactics, blame his players and big up their players. That’s not ‘mind games’ it’s a poor reaction to a poor performance and result.

Hiding behind the “he’s the manager so he knows better” idea largely negates any discussion and we may as well shut his forum down.

It’s a shame you didn’t think “he knew better” when you slagged off one of Wilder’s signings and OUR striker for the duration of his time at the club. But that fit your narrative so it was fair game I suppose.

Someone says something you disagree with though and you get high and mighty and all bigger Blade.

Wednesday don’t edge us in anything relevant. We’re a far bigger club in every way measurable.

Trophies won don’t make a club bigger before you say it.

Unbeaten, 6 consecutive clean sheets. If you decide to change what achieved that and it fails. It's on you!
So who was responsible for 9 unbeaten and 6 clean sheets? He did what he thought was best v Leeds. It didn't work.
No real axe to bring with you SEB, I'm just over the nonsense spouted against Wilder. People say he was a coward, I see the opposite. He tried something he knew would be unpopular, it worked to a degree, but then unraveled asthe game went on.
As above though, he has been the one who has overhauled the squad, gone nine unbeaten and given us our pride back. He is still way in credit for this season from me.

He gets a pass from me, but a big change like that, needs to own getting it wrong. Hopefully a one-off

Leeds Play Off Team versus Leeds line up versus Blades

Only two players same outfield wise . So , how we can really use that fact the previous Leeds team ' struggled' ( let alone the one off occasion it was) to help decide our formation I do not know:-

Leeds United: Meslier; Gray, Rodon, Ampadu, Firpo; Gruev, Kamara; Gnonto, Rutter, Summerville; Piroe

Starting XI: Meslier (GK), Bogle, Junior, Struijk (C), Rodon, Rothwell, Piroe, Aaronson, Ramazani, Tanaka, Gnonto
