So many experts on here . Surely if you can so definitely judge a player you should be in the game ! England manager perhaps 🤔

Surely if you don't have anything to say you should avoid message boards? Even more so if you have no opinion and all you have is humourless, worn out little digs.

He was the best player in the pitch against Luton, two games ago.

According to the Yorkshire Posts ratings, he was 8/10 along with four other players against Luton with Rak Sayki best player on the pitch with 9/10.

Yorkshire Post isn’t the be all and end all of player ratings in fairness 😂

Ey, owt wi Yorkshire in it 'as to be reit 😉. Seriously though, we all see what we see and chatting shit about it on here's not much more than a bit of fun. Unfortunately too many take themselves too seriously and that's when it goes down the shitter.

Interesting back and forth. This is, after all, a message board where opinions are welcome as long as they avoid toxic elements.
Giving an opinion of a player seems perfectly ok, and then if someone disagrees that view can be expressed. No more to it than that, is there?

I doubt anyone on here is seeking the role of Forum cub scout, but it's the whole purpose of this forum to encourage debate and alternating opinions.
Without this we'd be a bit one dimensional, so let a thousand flowers bloom say I, and in the final mix it won't make a ton of difference will it?

Exactly, it won't make a jot of difference. I like Arblaster, think he'll have a good career and hopefully it'll be with us. I don't get the euphoria around him right now, but posting that on here is always going to lay oneself open to the one line wonders who offer nothing bar snippy comments about the England manager job. It used to be coaching badges, how many professional games did you play etc. but there ya go, time moves on.

Good points, and apt for what is after all a place where we can comment, discuss, and when necessary, disagree.

I think that sometimes opinions are treated like articles of faith, not to be questioned, and it's as if by disagreeing it's viewed, incorrectly I should add, as if someone's support for the Blades is of lesser value.

Like most on here I want Utd to do well, succeed, be the best that they can be, but as has been correctly described elsewhere, we're a club whose size sometimes punches above it's weight, and then of course we sometimes
fail to deliver at all. We'd all like a moneybags to take a grip and provide untold wealth, but it ain't going to happen, is it? We have a chequered ownership history, the present incumbent being the latest
to imagine he can turn us into a better version of ourselves, but little sign of that happening now or in future.

Fair point. Any advice on how to stop it?

I don't carry a knife as I'm not Paul Hogan.

Education and hope would be a start.

I'm not Paul Hogan either but here in the US of A I'm not Billy Idol and like him I Don't Need a Gun so don't carry one of those either 👍

Think you are getting mixed up with Brewster. The thread is about Arblaster. And for me ARBLASTER jury is not out he's 'the real deal', tough gig at Leeds last night but Blaster is a great player and for me OP is talking twaddle.
Apologies. Arblaster is definitely the future. I’d just like Brewster to be given a decent run. I’m not a blind cheerleader, just want the kid to have a chance to show what he’s got.

One thing Oli seems to be great at us reading the game, something you can’t often teach a player. He always seems to anticipate every single pass and he it’s rare to catch him completely out of position. He wasn’t great but no one was.

Kid’s a ⭐

Guaranteed starters are Cooper, Souttar and Moore. I would include Hamer, Souza and Anel if they are all fit and available.
Arblaster is new and an ex academy player who needs rotation rest more than the others.

Get used to it because I cannot see the club finding spare cash for another striker in January. Loan or permanent.

Wilder has shown his cards to be more defensive away from home, Hence Cooper, Souttar and Moore.

At home they get picked because they are quality, except for Moore who has no challengers for his shirt, whatever formation we play. He can adapt his game, such as it is.

That made me laugh “ he doesn't have the presence of Souza “
The same get him out of my club Souza from our premiership disaster season! Which if nothing else goes to show players go through bad patches. Blaster is a fantastic player and prospect.
Right who else in our present team can we tear apart and demoralize .

What the fuck is this thread about?

Blaster bleeds red & white, like Billy before him.

Blaster is our leader going forwards.

To build a team you start with the leader.
Great post Graphman.

First thing Wilder did in his first spell as manager was make Billy captain.

Wilder has many faults but, as you put it, he also bleeds red & white. He recognises the extra passion that brings. When you combine it with a sharp football intelligence and ability you have something that every club needs.

UTB & FTP

I just wish he was given the chance to settle in for 60 minutes or more. Time after time he’s put on around the 80 minute mark. That piles pressure on him to do something spectacular- usually resulting in more pelters because he’s “greedy” or “can’t finish”. Give the lad 3 or 4 starts and let him relax into a game.
My bad, I misread Blaster for Brewster - apologies all!

You do know if we don't get promoted this season he'll fuck off to the higher bidder don't you? Billy was the last of a dying breed, no players bleed their teams colours any more, it's all about the moolah.

Blaster is more of that than Billy. He has come through and followed us as a fan.
He might leave, who knows. Regardless of his allegiance he should do that if he has opportunities beyond what we can give.
When he's been on it, he's great. He's had some off games, but he's a developing player. I don't see people generally making out he is the new Messiah. It's just nice to have a local blade lad developing well..just enjoy it for what it is.

Billy came through and used to follow us as a fan, so did Wilder so Blasters no bigger or lesser a Blade than either of them and again, I'm not criticising, I love it when home grown players make the grade with us, it's a Blade thing.

I agree he's a developing player, alluded to that in my opening post but as usual, folks don't really read what's being said and just go off on one based on their preconceived notions and the thread goes off kilter. I've seen many on here saying he'll play for England, he'll the England captain and a few other pretty outlandish tips of greatness. I hope he does all that, I hope he does it playing for us but it's way too early to get carried away, and like I say for me, the jury's out.

I don't think many people are 'going off on one' my post wasn't.

I think someone (not you, I know) starting a post with “what the fuck is this thread” could be classed as going off on one.

I think Peck is a better footballer than Arblaster and Souza is far superior. I thought the same about Souza last season but it wasn’t de rigeur to say that, so I usually keep quiet on here nowadays because debate quickly descends into name calling and childish jibes.

It's funny that getting relegated last season might have been a blessing in disguise because otherwise players like Arblaster, Brooks and Peck never would have the opportunity to develop like they are right now in the Championship. The Championship is the right environment for them right now.

Also means in order to keep them for a while promotion will be crucial.

It’s not if he goes but when and it will be a transfer record for us. I’ll wager he’ll stay to the end of this season.

Has he not had multiple chances in the time he has been at the Lane? He seems to either get injured or sent off. I hope there’s a player in there but what we paid for him it must be one of the worst deals ever.

This feels a bit like when Souza was getting stick for Ozzy and BBD running off and leaving the entire left side of the pitch empty.

We were tacticaly shit Friday, we let let 2 terrible defensive wing backs who are great attacking, attack us all night. We completely bypassed central midfield and poor Arblaster is just back from injury.

Wilder got it wrong, first time this season, no blame just an off day. Let's smash Boro in Wednesday. UTB

To add, Arblaster will be a United great. Him and Sydie.

Arblaster, when playing for United, is usually the guy who gets the ball off the defence progressing it forward with vertical passes or transitions. He's succeeded at doing that at Premier league, England youth and Championship level. Progressing a football forward is arguably the second hardest thing to do in football after scoring. Many players can go backwards and sidewards.

Against Leeds he played higher. The emphasis was on Anel (successful), RND (unsuccessful) and Vini (unsuccessful) to take over that role of progressing the ball forwards from deep positions. The back seven (including GK) has to do that to make up for the forward player we're sacrificing. We can argue why they were unsuccessful (wrong personnel, Leeds's pressing, bad individual performances, wrong tactics, Leeds overloading the deep midfield area with forward players) but if you find the number of times the football was either carried or passed forward and given to O'Hare, Arblaster, Moore, Hamer (and the wing backs) on the deck you'd have to conclude that the back seven failed to progress the ball forward. That was the primary reason those players were stifled. Our play was successfully stopped at source far too often, before they became a factor. If you add in the premise "that these players were passed the ball forward, in space, facing the oppositions goal", that small number of progressive passes into them will reduce a lot. That was the problem for most of the night.

That's what Arblaster, in his normal position, in out normal shape gives us. Even when we play our usual 4-2-3-1 Sans Arblaster, we've seen that reduce. A lot. Did Vini play well with the ball? Not for me. He went back, square and invited us to hoof or lose the ball. Our furthest back seven players (including our keeper) failed to play through their press.

Later in the game Arblaster did play deeper and he was tracked by two Leeds players. The best way to stifle United is to stop Arblaster. It's a worry for me tbh.
