Poor management

True story. Also 6 other posts about this. It was a blip. We've had a fucking hellish 9 days as a club ffs
No..this is not an excuse… this was totally down to the team selection, the team that started was not the team that’s won us 6 wins out of 9, he went there to keep it tight… to draw out 1 point..
it was clear to everyone that Leeds had no one to be worried about, hence the possession they had, and it took Wilder 75 mins to put any sort of attacking threat on the pitch..

Both Sunderland and Norwich showed how u play against them, u have to be offensive and go for them.

We played right into thier hands, which is so disappointing after the Luton game… what the hell was he thinking in not playing Rak Saki…

It was a complete shambles, I can’t even be mad as Leeds thoroughly deserved that win.. and I’m not sure wether that makes the loss easier or not..

Tonight was a massive missed opportunity, we were 3 points in front of Leeds, it was a free hit to be expressive, the worst that could have happened did, by playing like a league one team in a cup match..

I know my thread got canned…

Where was the GB.put everything out there..

Totally down to Wilder… PLAY YOIR BEST TEAM EVERY GAME….

No great mystery in recognising what the consensus seems to be.

The season's still early, the players are just getting into a groove and becoming familiar with each other, and as they've
grown together Chris Wilder decides that changes are necessary. I don't think anyone would quibble with CW's right to make
changes if he feels they'll benefit our chances of securing points, but from early in the game, around the 20 minute mark, we were
found wanting. My question is why hesitate in making changes when it was clear that we were conceding ground and momentum
to Leeds? We offered little threat going forward, but the gradual creep of Leeds gaining ground and dominance was something we
failed to address. The selection for this game suggested a mismatch, and so it proved.

We seemed to have built a solid defensive unit. Firstly a very good goalie in Cooper, then two centre-backs gelling well, with Souttar especially
dominant, and Burrows and Gilchrist looking more than capable of doing their jobs to good effect. That said, the changes made for this game
appear to have undermined that cohesion and understanding. Football's a confidence game, and by this puzzling tinkering of the team
it became a clear case of back to the drawing board, or should that be a return to what's worked so well for so far?

I don't expect perfection in life let alone football, mistakes happen and questions are asked, it's a familiar story that isn't restricted to the Blades.
Yet our concerns are to do with how we're shaping up, how we're managing to cope, what areas of the teams need strengthening (unsurprisingly the clamour
for a greater goal threat up front is becoming louder). Perhaps I'm a little too old school in that I like to see the same eleven players, barring injury or
a loss of form, take the pitch for each game. It builds understanding and confidence, and it contributes to the team's ability to cope when presented with
tactical problems. Of course there's sometimes a case for a change of personnel, but for this game? Hindsight's a wonderful thing of course, so when I saw the
team announcement before the game I was surprised, but with my usual stoicism I thought that Wilder must know best so settled in for a game of cat and mouse.

Sadly, from quite early on we looked ineffective, and as the game progressed we were on the back foot and were incapable of offering a threat that might worry Leeds.
On the night the better team won. We now go onto the next game with questions to be asked and hopefully solutions found.
Finger's crossed this was a case of human error and poor team selection. Going forward we have exciting young talent in Brooks and JRS, but even with the introduction
of JRS it was a case of too little too late. We were poor, well below the performance levels that have served us well this far. This will be a test of Wilder and his coaching staff,
as well as the players and whether they can rise above such a poor performance.

I really wouldn’t call it poor management, we’re still top 6 , Chris made a mistake, big fucking deal , must have had one of the hardest weeks of his career, he’s just lost a really good friend, we haven’t, we knew of George, people are crying about it and rightly so , but we didn’t know George like he did , Anyway drifting off there .
I don’t think these fucking international breaks are helping us , we seem to find is grove and the it’s 2 fucking weeks off . It’s how we respond now on Wednesday, that team need to go out there and fucking rip Boro a new one , fuck respect, shit or bust it , go for the win and let’s see what we really can do !

If we revert back to our usual team and formation at Boro angry go to win it from the first whistle then no complaints from me about the manager no matter what the outcome. Be brave and go for it. Then any criticism if needed after the match sits firmly with the team not the gaffer.

I detest seeing United lose but it's much more palatable if you know we played to our strengths and just got beaten on the day by a better team. Don't surrender before the kick off. Attack Boro, go to impose ourselves, and let the cards fall as they may.

The team did warrant some tinkering tonight. Moore ont bench and Campbell upfront with O’Hare rested for Brewster playing as a front 2 with Hamer behind and go for the feckers

We’ve got it right from goalie, defence and MF.

Well, before the game Leeds (the fans mainly) were genuinely quite anxious about playing us. But it was good of our Chrissie to allay their fears so early in the game.

The frustration is that if we could make those changes, and play em again this afternoon, stick with the usual formation and go to impose ourselves with confidence, I'd fancy us to win as i think we are ths better side. We'll never know though after last night's daft changes and meek set up. CW could have been a French cheese eating surrender monkey last night. Learn from it please, Mr Wilder.

Surrender is the word

Wilder should be embarrassed

It was as much of a free hit as could possibly be away at Leeds. 2nd in the table, 3 point buffer, 10 games in

Changing a defence that hadn't conceded for 6 games out of fear...... why? What's the worst likely scenario? Conceding 1? This demanded no tinkering, and should have given him the freedom to set up as normal and play without fear

He got too much wrong to list

Would this team have done any worse:

Cooper
Gilchrist Souttar Anel Burrows
Souza Arblaster
Sakyi Hamer Brooks
Moore

?

Whisper it quietly, but in the “Basham’s arriving” game we also changed our approach to the game and nicked a win despite being the poorer team.
Sometimes these gambles pay off, last night it didn’t.
Important thing now is how we respond on Wednesday night. Hopefully we dump this conservative approach and play to our strengths again.

We did well enough after the last international break and actually this last one should have affected Leeds more.
Last night was due to CW changing the team too much and Leeds being very good.
Assuming CW goes back to our usual line up, the Boro game will tell us more

The 5 at the back stinks the place out, decent teams know how to get through it. For me it should be confined to history and not used unless you have the personal to bring it off not players who were brought for a different style. Hopefully wilder never goes down this route again

It wasn’t poor management

It was jaw dropping awful irrespective of what’s going on
