Since he came back from injury Blaster hasn't been great, he wasn't the world beater folks had him down as before he got crocked either to be honest. Don't get me wrong, he's a home grown talent with a decent touch and is a really good prospect but that's it. What he isn't right now is a future England captain, a midfielder who'd walk into any Premier League team and he has a lot of improving to do before he hits the heights that some think he's a shoe in for.

He gives the ball away a lot, he doesn't have the presence of Souza and certainly isn't blessed with an abundance of pace and strength. Some of that he'll learn, some like the lack of pace he'll overcome with his football brain but for now, time for a reality check and maybe let him grow without the expectation that he'll be Messi tomorrow.

Good luck to him, I hope he comes good but for me the jury's out.

Nah not for me mate, he's class. Great touch, superb at turning out of trouble and keeping it ticking over, a little bit (and I'm on about style rather than suggesting he's at all there yet) Paul Scholesy.

He's 20, probably playing through an injury but whether he is or isn't, he's 20!! He will have poor games, he will have poor spells but that's what'll make him.

For me, we've had young players in unbelievable form (Tonge probably the best example, Woodhouse too) who we got over excited about, but I reckon he's the real deal. Jury's Inn. UTBFTP

Nice one mate, I like that 👍. Obviously I don't agree otherwise I wouldn't have started the thread but I like your counter argument and the fact that you've not got all pissy and defensive. We'll see, I hope he gets the winner against the filth and kicks on from there.

I just wish he was given the chance to settle in for 60 minutes or more. Time after time he’s put on around the 80 minute mark. That piles pressure on him to do something spectacular- usually resulting in more pelters because he’s “greedy” or “can’t finish”. Give the lad 3 or 4 starts and let him relax into a game.

I’m fairly sure that Arblaster starts most games….

Think you are getting mixed up with Brewster. The thread is about Arblaster. And for me ARBLASTER jury is not out he's 'the real deal', tough gig at Leeds last night but Blaster is a great player and for me OP is talking twaddle.

So many experts on here . Surely if you can so definitely judge a player you should be in the game ! England manager perhaps 🤔

just think we try too many short dangerous passes in our own half lots of sloppy passing again last night in midfield and leeds pressed us in that area but the real problem is our final 3rd not enough movement and o'hare isnt the answer playing up there with moore

Last season was Roy of the rovers stuff and he was probably our best player most games

Don’t think he’s hit those heights, as most games Vini has been the man, Souttar Hamer, JSR have all put in motm performances

Very few 20 yr olds perform 8/10 consistently

I’d give Vini the armband and let Blaster focus on learning his trade on the job

I said this in the shout box last night. We were bullied in MF last night and a lot of that was down to Arblaster’s positioning and leaving pockets of space. I love his ability, his touch and passing but his defensive game needs improvement. We looked more assured when Peck came on but these are two young lads so I can’t give too many pelters, but just an observation.

Nah mate. You're getting a bit ahead of yourself. And like r'Chris, probably guilty of over-thinking things. Don't get me wrong, i thought he was our worst player last night and clearly the occasion got to him.

However, it's a sign of how influential he is, in that when he has a stinker, we have a stinker...

‘Since he came back from injury’ 1 game ago?

He wasn’t great yesterday. But he had no one to pass forward to.

Without him we didn’t create much in games against Derby, Portsmouth and Swansea and importantly didn’t score a goal in open play (Swansea OG if you wanna count that I guess). He comes back and we dominate Luton, score twice, could’ve had more. It’s not a coincidence.

On our list of issues, Ollie Arblaster might be just about last.

I think he's an absolutely class footballer. He had a off game last night, and has only been average the last couple, but Gus and O'Hare aren't pulling up trees around him. I thought Souza was excellent, more width and space from the likes JRS and Brooks would really benefit him.

He was the best player in the pitch against Luton, two games ago.

I’d make a shit prime minister but it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have an opinion on how things are. It’s just opinions on a message board mate, right or wrong is just that, a matter of opinion.

For the record, I’m mostly in agreement with Maurice Maurice the lad needs a bit of time, no doubt though that he has plenty of quality.

Last night was poor tactically, we shit the bed because it was Leeds. But it should be kept in mind that these lads have just lost a mate, and formerly one of the dressing room leaders. No doubt in my mind that he kept in touch with a lot of them.

Anyway, reset

The lad is pure class, but last night he was really poor. Got caught on the ball several times, misplaced passes, aimless long balls etc.

Not sure why you’ve quoted my post to say that when I’ve already said he wasn’t great 😂😂

hamer and o'hare do too much showboating for my liking but both much better players than they showed last night tough game at boro but if we could get 4 points from the next 2 games were still on track for a top 6 finish 2 or 3 new recruits still needed in january though

Blaster was definitely off his game last night but I think the impact of George's death was a major factor in that (as it is for all of us) plus playing in a new system (to him)

When somebody dies suddenly it makes us all think about our own mortality along with our family and friends no matter how tough and ambitious we are.

Footballers are not robots, they have feelings and emotions.

Arblaster is a phenomenal talent and I believe he will play at the highest level.

Just remembered, he almost scored, Leeds got lucky on that deflection. They deserved to win last night.

They played well but we sat back and gave them the impetus to drive forward at us.

Onwards and upwards.

He a cracking young player whose still learning his trade .. his physicality will improve with age but the lad is going to be very good player that much I can tell you ..last night he had an off night along with 10 others .. in you want to know what he brings to the party .. look at those performances while he was out injured we offered very little going forward .

Isn't he the highest ranked player in the division so far ?
Not midfielder, player

I like peck a lot, but I don’t know how you can say we looked more assured when he came on, when we conceded two goals after he came on.

The first goal was off a corner and the second Peck was there but decent bit of forward play. I felt we looked like we had more balance for a chunk when he came on, whereas before there were so many holes and Blaster had a tendency to chase shadows in games where the opposition is of a decent standard. I’m not doubting his ability, I just think there’s some serious room for improvement when he doesn’t have the ball.
