Thanks!

I mean, you're probably right insofar as Sheffield United have a lot of content creators whilst some clubs don't have 1x fan podcast at all. That said, different strokes and all. For us (well for me), I'm not interested in making or watching video content because, as a consumer, I find pods easier to integrate into day-to-day life: washing up, driving, having a bath. I've actually found that I prefer BladesPod for washing up and Tufty Club/Four Blades for baths. Make of that what you will.

I often listen to Tufty in the bath, 4 Blades on my dog walks and Red Half at work. As it stands your my choice for exercising but it's early days

Our latest pod is live (after a short, stupid and unintentional break following our recording about a takeover that hasn't happened).
It’s a Formline episode and it’s the first time we’ve been able to record this feature in exactly the way we planned: looking back at four games in the round and spotting trends, rather than reacting game by game. We wanted to take the emotion out of it. Our snap reactions would come down too harshly on individuals, and we think it's okay for players to have an off day.

Instead, there are four themes picked out from our games against Preston, QPR, Norwich and Watford: early leads and their consequences, chance creation, an emerging force on the left-hand side and Oliver Arblaster.

A new pod episode just dropped, and we're asking whether the league table lies. TL;DR: yes and no.

Ahead of Saturday's game, it's fair to say Pompey have had the most difficult set of fixtures to contend with that I can ever remember. Contrast that with our own (3rd easiest per Soccer stats) and this weekend becomes an interesting litmus test for where we're at. As a natural pessimist (Riley too for that matter), I'm a bit more circumspect about our position. It's not a "false" one, but not sure the league table is going to tell us very much until at least the 10-game mark. Still, there's a huge amount to be positive about, especially the ludicrous form of Gus... we get into that.

Let us know what you think!

Was a De ent enough listen but the anyone who thinks Moore is a better baller than mcburnie is watching a different sport comment was a bit baffling
Not saying mcburnie isn't better than Moore but it's hardly like comparing Messi and Titus bramble

I was always a big fan of mcburnie but got fed up of the ball always coming back towards our own goal
His main strength being defending corners and these one twos you talk about don't stick in my mind as much as yours

Happily listen to all the Blades podcasts, as they all offer something different. So far these have been really excellent. Riley's data analysis is first class and there's no one to beat his great accent. I'd even be happy if the pods were a bit longer. Thanks guys, great job.

Really enjoyed again. Thank you.

Interesting comments about the potential two up top option. IF that happens then kudos, as I’d not considered it as an option. But, to (misquote) Disraeli…

‘Change is inevitable. In a progressive team change is constant”

And Shakira…

“Lucky Souttar has long legs like my mother”

Yeah I was a bit strong there (I think, in response to some tweets that had been saying the opposite). Wrong phrasing, but I'd defend the point: McBurnie's interplay with Ndiaye, McAtee, Hamer is a strength we miss at the moment.

Personally I can't make my mind up
I see things moore does that mcburnie doesn't and I also see his shortcomings decision making wise in key areas

I think like most of the team /squad he deserves until the next international break to start passing judgment but definitely needs someone to. Share his workload or he will breakdown which incidentally when was the last time mcburnie played as many consecutive minutes as Moore has ? I bet it's a long time ago

Yep. I agree. 6 games ain’t enough to form full conclusions either way.

Hello. We started a podcast on The Pinch because – you know – there isn't enough audio to go around and the Dad Pod is the new Dad Bod.

I hope it’s okay to post each of the episodes here. There are some paywalled articles on The Pinch, but the podcast is forever free, you won’t catch us up-selling, and we only use the money to pay each contributor for their work.

We’re doing our podcast a little differently insofar as we have a couple of features. UNITED VOICES features fans telling their stories. Whilst the 4ORMLINE will break things up into chunks of four throughout the season – sometimes players and sometimes games. All the pods are pretty short bite-sized affairs.

Today, we just published our Season Preview in two parts: https://podfollow.com/the-pinch-podcast
  • Part One is myself, David Taylor and Riley Roberts finding reasons to be cheerful ahead of the season, previewing opening day and answering some quick-fire questions.
  • Part Two is a deep-dive with George Elek from Not The Top 20 podcast – and he’s much more positive on the Blades than many fans seem to be, so hopefully makes for cheery listening. We also discuss the Best of British transfer approach.

Hope you enjoy. Would be great to get some feedback for good or ill. UTB
First time listener to your podcast, I will certainly be back again.

Don't know why but that link is taking me to open an email 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hopefully not a mailto link this time - you can find the latest Pinch Podcast here: https://www.thepinch.uk/p/formline-108-stock-take-souttar-burrows. Should be floating around Apple/Spotify too.

This is another Formline episode. We look at four player: Souttar, Burrows, O'Hare and Moore. TL;DL: I love Harrison Burrows.
Thanks, and really enjoying the podcast.

Is there an updated RSS feed? Reason for asking is that it was working great on PocketCasts until recently. The feed still seems there, but none of the recent episodes are showing. Last one on that feed was the Michael Cooper episode.

Not a major issue as can still listen via the link, but just like all my podcasts in one place!

You’re not the only to mention this. I don’t know pocket casts and wasn’t actively updating before. But will have a look into it!

Good listen that 👍👍

Hi all, here's a quick intro for each episode of our three-part special on United 2016-21

Part 1: Centurions

Sam and David reflect on the hundred-point season that sparked the wildest ride in recent Blades history, when Chris Wilder and Alan Knill arrived at a club on its knees, ripped up the rulebook and concocted a team of centurions. Join us to chart a course from the lap of dishonour to Billy Sharp atop the shoulders of fans on a sunny day in Northampton.

Part 2: The Class of 18/19 (with Kate Burlaga)

If you go to a pub in Ireland, you have to have a song. And if you don’t have a song, you might as well not go to the pub at all. Wise words of warning from John Egan: but at the time he said this, there was no risk of silence in S2. Sheffield United’s 2018/19 season was music to our ears. Taking us through a barely believable return to the Premier League with our happy bunch of frees, outcasts and misfits is Output Editor at Sky Sports and former deputy news editor at The Athletic, Kate Burlaga.

Part 3: Rise and Fall (with Nathan Hemmingham)

From firm favourites for the drop and pundit premonitions of getting ‘annihilated’, to ninth in the top flight and discussions on whether the Blades could even make the Champions League, and finally to a post-lockdown descent into disappointment, departures and a merciful return to the Championship, our previous short stint in the Premier League was a hell of a ride.

In the third and final part of the series, we look at our two seasons back in the big time – from dreamland to nightmare. Joining us is senior BBC journalist and former Sheffield United correspondent for Yorkshire Live, Nathan Hemmingham, who lifts the lid on Wilder's relationship with the press, why our second season in the Premier League went wrong, and what it was like to cover football during COVID restrictions.

Nice work, keep it up! Have enjoyed the pods I've heard so far and looking forward to listening to these. 👍
