Jesurun’s fast feet are a thing to behold!

The lad has a great first touch, giving himself time and space, feinting and jinking, to unbalance defenders. He’s so entertaining to watch.

Whilst watching him, it occurred to me just how fast-footed the rest of the team is. This side is full of nimble, energetic players who can go past the opposition and get out of tight spots defensively.

Jes is arguably the trickiest, but players like Gus, Arblaster, O’Hare, Brookes, Brewster, Burrows, Peck, McCallum… they all have very fast feet and can turn and beat players at this level.

Even the lads that make us a physically strong side, Sousa, Souttar, Moore, Gilchrist, Anel… they are all agile and can go past players in the opposing half.

Not to mention Cooper, who looks assured with the ball.

It got me thinking as to whether I could think of a Blades side who were quite as fast-footed as this team.

I remember being in awe at how slick we looked in the 3-3 game against Man United at Bramall Lane in 2019, but that team, although playing against superior opponents, had a spine of Moore in net, Jags at centre half, Norwood in the middle with Billy coming on up front, none of whom are particularly noted for being fleet-footed or going past players.

This side are clearly full of confidence and momentum, and of course they’ll face setbacks. But I just hope for entertainment’s sake that they keep this belief and speed of thought and movement. It could be a great season to watch!

He's two-footed as well - that first goal on Saturday , the quick thinking and the power & accuracy in his supposedly weaker L foot.

Brooks is similar but just needs a goal to get him off the mark

Yep. I'd add Seriki, Marsh and Brewster to your list. For a big number nine Moore is surprisingly deft too.

We’ve also got more players who are two-footed than any time I can remember. JRS, Hamer and Blaster all looks genuinely dangerous in either foot. And O’hare, Anel, Souza and Cooper all seem reasonably comfortable using their wrong peg if called upon (notwithstanding Anel’s brain fart when he got booked on Saturday).

I’ve asked this question before but did t see an answer - does anyone know which is Arblaster’s natural foot? He’s scored both goals on his left but I always thought he was a right-footer.

He uses his right foot when taking corners (he did on Saturday during the first half) and free kicks.

We do have more technically advanced players than the "original" Wilder championship sides that's for sure. Duffy was our flair player back then.

I guess that's what half a billion quid and not having to spend 6 years in league one does for a side!

Others with fast feet from days gone by.

It’s often the smaller guys who have the quickest feet. It’s really noticeable how Callum O’Hare takes loads of little steps when he runs and due to his quick feet he’s always able to draw a foul.

Regards the last 50 years the quickest feet I’ve seen play for us is probably Alex Sabella who had a really low centre of gravity and surely must have been the most fouled player we’ve had.

A lovely player, maybe even a star in the making, but like many young lads (Brooks), his judgment isn't there yet. He always looks to do another stepover, but plenty of time for him to grow out of that.

We don't have a lot of pace, but most players have quick feet and good skill for the current level.

At the moment it seems almost easy to make this a promotion winning side. But we need to get a few things absolutely spot on to make it a side who can be competitive in the PL.
