From my vantage point in the Westfield Corner, I noticed that, on around 35-37 minutes in there was a mass exodus from G & H Block to the bar. Not one or two here and there, but streams of people.

I thought these were meant to be the proper Bleds? But with an entire 10 minutes of the first half still to go, these "Blades" are more bothered about Madri than United.

You can watch the game on the screens underneath the SS whilst queuing for a pint.

I sat there for the first time on Saturday and agree. It was really odd. Our STs on the kop are perfect for not having muppets arriving late, then leaving early at HT, then arriving back late in second half, then leaving early again before FT. So it was a bit of a shock to see so many scarper before it was even 40 mins in

Not saying who's right or who's wrong here, if fact for what it's worth, I don't think anyone is.
What I think it does highlight though, is the shift in the tribalism mentioned in the 'atmosphere' thread.

Absolutely they are, but people are also entitled to be surprised by it
Fair. This is nothing new though. Happens on every stand, and always has. Even before you could watch on the concourse or in the fan park on the big screen.

I mentioned this in the other thread where this was mentioned, maybe the kop thread. If you don't want to spend the entire 15 mins queuing, and then if you're drinking alcohol to miss the start of the second half because you can't take beer into the stands, you have to leave 5 or so minutes early to beat the queues.

We take it in turns for our group of three so not everyone misses the end of the first half. But for the one who goes, it's a balance between missing a bit of the end of the first half, or missing more of the second. And you can watch the game on the screens, on the kop there's a big screen in the fans zone now so you don't miss any action

Bigger blades are out again!! People are entitled to go for a pint (or food) as they please!
Give it a rest
Yes they are, but streams of people busting to drink rebadged Carling with 10 mins still to go is not really a great look.

It's impossible to get a drink on south stand at half time unless you go in early, that's the problem. I prefer to stay to watch the football personally, but sometimes it would be nice to be able to do both. Shame they've stopped selling Neck Oil, that Jute IPA is not as good IMO.

Why even bother going to your seat then?
You've reminded me...I can't remember which away game it was, but I was dying for a piss and a fella was in the concourse watching the game on a tv midway through the half, and I said, "it's a better view in there mate', pointing to the gangway. His reply was, "I've done too much acid mate. I can't go in there"

🤣 christ almighty 🤣

The number of people surprised by this, and furthermore willing to sit on their high horse about it surprises me. Who gives a fuck. Let people do what they want to do. It has no impact on you whatsoever

I believe its because the fan zone is still open at half time for the south stand and people want to get down there for a pint and the match is also on the screen there so they dont miss anything ?

oh but it does when you are fucking constantly getting up and down to let the fat cunt squeeze past ;)

Less of the fat, I'm just big boned. Yeah I got the second part right though 😉

Madri is horse piss as well. It's carling but rebadged to pretend it's spanish 🤣🤣

You used to be able to order your beer pre-match to collect at halftime, but for some reason they've stopped doing that this season, so the process of getting your drinks has been slowed down.

Yes it’s poor but necessary due to the sloth pace service by the yoof behind the bar . Every club this happens but spoiler alert Madri is actually the old Carling formula re branded so why the haste 😂🍺🍺🍺

I think they went to look at other half time scores on BBC website but women's football scores were first so they went down in disgust?

Were they dressed in Blue? They probably left to get changed into more Bladey colours.

Perhaps they also want to support the club financially. They realised that we were 1-0 and in no danger, so they went to boost the coffers slurping a few lagers. Proper blades sacrifice themselves

I think people leave 10 mins before HT is to beat the slow as fuck queues for a pint. Man city have a good system where you can buy beer tokens before the game, there's a place on the concourse where you can exchange said tokens for already poured pints.

Hardly visionary idea is it? The thick cunts in charge of ours will get to this idea in around 10 years.

Asked for a coffee other week, got a bovril, pointed this out, got a tea, third time a supervisor came over to explain where the coffee was. Jesus wept.

This exodus was due to an injury at that time. It makes sense to get a quick piss and another pint of overpriced gassy stuff in plastic cups. ;)
