Thought he looked a lot better than Andre last night. He has a final pass on him. Brooks has his head down a lot as he runs towards the box. I'm loving the headache CW has with our forwards

It’s far from a headache at the moment, we have a number of players that are interchangeable and we’re using the squad giving players like Brooks, Campbell, Rak-Sakyi, Hamer, O’Hare, Gilchrist, Brewster and Shackleton 60 mins per game where possible. These are the players with probably the most high intensity games as they press and sprint more

Moore, Peck, Blaster and Souza are tending to get more minutes because they don’t have the replacements available in the same way and they are most likely not having the same number of sprints per game. But Moore is being acknowledged as needing some breaks as Campbell builds his fitness. Having Arblaster out isn’t ideal, especially as we will surely lose Souza for a game suspension soon, but ideally Blaster coming back in will be well timed for this. Hamer can also drop in deeper as well if needed, so it’s good he came out on 73 mins last night for Brewster

Burrows got the full 90 and was perhaps playing at a higher intensity last night than in recent games. But with McCallum and RND available we may see him also get some rest and recovery.

Souttar and Anel are probably seeing the fewest sprints and playing at Lower intensity as we’re doing a good job in being very well organised at the back, not over committing and having the protection from Souza and Peck just now

Yeah sorry Cappy thought he did nothing last night, and I thought Brooks was unlucky to be taken off when he was.

Undoubtedly our most likely threat against Portsmouth though. I don’t think either him or Brooks have played consistently enough so far to nail down the shirt as their own
Far from unlucky to be taken off, will have been a planned change. We also moved from wing focused play to more direct through the middle when Rak-Sakyi and Moore came on

Yep sure it was planned, but he was having his best spell of the game. I might have given him another 5 or so to see if he could maintain the threat.

But that was the point, I think there was a clear message given to the players coming off that they give a decent effort until 60 mins and then rest and recover. They’ll be needed for Saturday probably for 30 mins

We changed the emphasis when they went off, bringing Moore into the game so down the right, whilst not redundant wasn’t the focus for play as much.

Edit: worth also saying that brooks was often doubled up on as was Rak-sakyi so it gave more space and opportunity down he middle and on the left

He needs a song after that performance. I think we should try a retro boy band song!

Just watched his post match interview. What a lovely kid and a quality footballer. Premier League pedigree for sure. He's been unlucky not to score by now and could have had a couple more today. Long may it continue.

We all know JRS has high quality but what impressed me today was his application and work rate off the ball.

It was as though his family and friends had come up from London and were sat in the stands to celebrate his birthday. By his standards it was like he was fired up and on a mission to impress.

Does make you wonder if JRS will replicate the McAtee loan. Remember when he joined you could see the quality but he was all style and no substance with poor work rate off the ball. A few of our fans even wrote him off as “not good enough”. It took him a few months to adapt but eventually McAtew became easily one of our best players.

Similar with JRS, in the early days some of our fans questioned if he’s good enough and maybe should be 2nd choice behind Brookes but Saturday he looked too good for the Championship. Hope he finds consistency but it’s encouraging that he seems to have bought in to Wilders philosophy of working hard both on and off the ball.

I was just going to post the same, if he develops the way McAtee did we’ve another good one. Interesting that Luton was the turning point for him too.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but could he be recalled in January?

What is the point in agreeing to recall if that is true would rather have not bothered because that will be a big blow if he has to go back and that could cause big problems

I said on here a few weeks ago that Wilder will have to get in his ear about his defensive duties and it struck me yesterday that he was always tackling + covering very effectively which he hasn't done previously - he's obviously been coached on this.

Well you either agree to it, or you don't get him at all. Accounto said McAtee had one last year.

If palace are in a place they need to recall him in January they will probably be staring relegation in the face and relying on JRS is pretty risky. If they need a player to strengthen in Jan I fully expected them to bring someone in rather than recall

I suspect any recall would be more likely to be enacted if he wasn’t playing. There’s no way Palace are getting him back to throw him into their first team, so it covers them if we’re not playing him, or playing him out of position, and they could bring him back to send him straight out somewhere else.

Agree….a Jan recall for Rak Sakyi is very unlikely, probably less than a 10% chance.

It would only happen if

A: The player is unhappy, hardly playing for us and not developing. In this case they’d cut short the deal and possibly send him to another Championship club or

B: Palace has injury problems and were unable to bring in PL level replacements. Then if they were desperate, as a last resort they’d bring back JRS.

Very fickle and people never learn. Young lad, finding feet, fitness and settling in… always needs time.
Tbf I never thought he was shit, but I did want Brooks to start over him. Still think they could start together.
