This bloke has appeared in the betting at 25-1 with Coral, which probably just means some punter has had a fiver on him.

According to Wikipedia he was recently sacked by some Russian outfit (after 16 days in charge). He previously managed Brondby and a couple of teams in Qatar, and worked as first team coach under Fergie at Man U.

According to BBC journo Howard Nurse, Rene is going back to Qatar: "Rene Meulensteen has turned down an offer to become assistant manager of Fulham and is set to become technical director at the Qatar FA."

Top notch coach who should have been snapped up by the FA to work at St George's.
Just shows what they know about development that he's been available and ignored.

Please, not another coach. I'd like us to get a manager in after the Morgs and Weir disasters.

Very talented coach, excellent man manager too, excellent technical coach, they've missed another massive trick with this Rene.

But they don't have to go straight from being a coach to our manager.

He hasn't though, he's coached managed, coached and been an assistant. Big part of what made Manchester United successful.

Not that I think he would take the job here, or that United would even have the noose to try and bring in someone like him.
