I take it Egan is struggling to find the fitness level required to play in the championship!Chris Morgan had a similar problem and had to retire.. Morgan was a cruciate Egan : also a tendon injury although he not the same as Morgan.
Difficult injuries to recover from late in a career.

I think the only likely one might be Armstrong. I would be surprised if we look at anyone else.

How could you forget he signed the legend that is Didzy after a trial and signed him on a free.
 
There were some very tired legs in the last 10 mins yesterday, squad depth needed. There are some decent players out there who we could bring in on short contracts to fill that role

If fit Liam Cooper and Jack Cork would be OK as squad players for a year.
 

I'd love us to take a look at Timothy Fosu-Mensah. Very athletic right-back, who would be great at pushing forward and supporting Brooks or JRS

Liam Cooper as a backup CB would be decent.

Kemar Roofe could be an option to add depth up front. Very mobile, and has a reasonable scoring record.
 
I guess the question i have is, why are these players free agents?

Money
Fitness (or lack of)
Unlucky
Dare i say it (attitudes)
 
Still think whoever can “fix” Dele Alli will have a real good player on their hands. Especially at this level. I know he said he’s sorted his head out and just wants to play football, but why has no one taken a punt on him? Must be still some issues there

Liam Cooper would provide good cover in defence.
Jack Cork played 39 times for Burnley when they won the league. 35, but on a one-year deal to cover Souza?
Stuart Armstrong would be a really good addition and provide competition to Arblaster & Hamer.
And maybe Cyrus Christie to ensure we have an experienced RB in the squad whilst Alfie Gilchrist figures things out.

Armstrong the best of the options.
 
Get Scott Hogan back.

Liam Cooper is a surprise as he’s a very good pro. So even at 33 would be a good back up for many clubs.

Guess he could end up at Rotherham, Donny or Chesterfield
 
Ethan Banks-Landell (remember him?) is out of contract....think his 2 year contract Rochdale ended in the Summer.

I remember when he was at Wolves and we wanted to give him a big contract building our defence around him.
However he choose to sign an extended bigger contract at Wolves and since signing that contract he's not played a single game for them.

He's 31 now and it just shows that choosing money (staying at Wolves) over advancing his career (joining United) has backfired badly.
Since leaving us he's played at football giants MK Dons, Shrewsbury and Rochdale. Oh how the mighty have fallen
and shows how young highly rated players with promising careers can basically disappear from the game playing in the lower leagues.

Take heed Osula and Jebbison....it's possible neither will play a single game for Newcastle and Bournemouth
and in a few years both are playing for a Rochdale or Stockport and we're all saying wonder
how they're careers would have turned out if they decided to stay at Sheff Utd.
Jordan Slew was another one, seduced by the big short term payday but that decision to join Blackburn destroyed his long term career.

A few sliding doors moments for young players and senior players with us, especially anyone that opted to bail between 2016 to 2019.
 

Kongolo was a baller at Huddersfield hence his move to Fulham but he's barely featured since really
Would be good centre half competition if he was fit

We were linked with him when JOC was first injured, and allegedly pulled the plug on a medical due to a foot injury he sustained back in 2020. So Wilder knows all about him.
