If we are going to challenge Leeds and Burnley for top 2 we have to find a way of improving the defensive unit, and not just through organisation and defending well as that is a given, but through ball retention under pressure.
Beating the high press and inviting teams onto us to free up space for the midfield and attacking options will be the key.

Leeds showed last night how to deal with average clubs with hardworking but lacking talent players who will run after the ball and try to create pressure.
We are miles off that with any back line that has Robbo or Trusty in it.
Cooper I’m hoping is able to play that way, Souttar I’m not sure about. You’d hope Golchrist can being a Chelsea player while Burrows confirmed his weaknesses last Saturday.

Trusty hasn't played on fairness. The defence has hardly played together and I would hope would improve as the season goes on. Having Souttar in will definitely help.

has to be at least 2 more coming in looking like cannon is one but weve only played 2 games i think some of our fans are panicking too early about our defence yes we havent settled properly yet but maybe with 1 more addition at the back i think we will be fine

I’m afraid even the Wrexham cup game exposed his weaknesses.
Ball over the top is something Trusty can’t deal with, positional he’s poor, and on the ball in tight areas and under pressure he resorts to lumping it. He hasn’t the first touch, passing ability with both feet, vision or composure to do anything else.

If we want to compete for the top 2 that’s an area we have to improve drastically.
