Souttar would be Anel's replacement and a very good one at that but......... Souttar will get turned far too often if he is isolated, so we need a quick CB alongside him or a quick full back to cover.

It wouldn't bother me one jot if Anel left, but it would have to be a minimum of £15m plus add ons and a sell on.

Doyle in a swap deal would be awesome, but very unlikely indeed.

Just an observation but nearly every aerial challenge Gilchrist had with his marker at Preston ( can’t remember much of QPR match) he lost the header. Not sure where that leaves him as a CB?

I noticed that and it was Robbie Brady who he kept losing out to, which is slightly concerning....

I'm still unsure as to why we brought in Souttar unless it was because Anel was leaving which just seems fair enough to me so we e already got the Anel replacement.

I do t think Anel staying is essential, we need Souttar in the team in my view anyway. Hopefully if he does go we can buy or loan a decent centre forward and possibly a right back too.

With respect , I think you've gone round in a circle there - Souttar replaces Egan - and if Anel leaves , we need to buy a permanent replacement.
I am not comfortable with a situation in which the only CBs we actually own are three Lfooters in Trusty who can't be trusted , RND whose return to previous fitness is not guaranteed and JLT who just isn't tall enough or good enough but for want of a better option has been made captain coz he's a bit of a cult.
I've got Gilchrist on ignore coz he's also on loan and playing RB anyway.
Wilder is never going to leave himself without the option of playing 3 CBs so we need :
Anel (or permanent Rfooted replacement) , Souttar , Trusty , Gilchrist , JLT , RND.
Even then , the latter 3 barely make the 6foot mark which in a league of big lads is not quite tall enough.
QPR bullied us second half and there are loads more like them.

i agree if we continue to play 4231 tommy doyle would be the ideal partner for arblaster in the 2 much sooner have him there than souza wonder if wilder might be thinking similar and test wolves with that one if wolves do go for anel

He's a better player than he showed last season but he's pretty easily replaceable at this level if we're playing a 4. He never got back to the levels he showed in those first few months and despite his obvious talent, I never felt comfortable with him in a defensive sense. I think he looks good in a good team. Be interesting to see how he gets on at another struggling team.
