On the no. 9 Beattie had a narrow win from Evans (WTF??) with respectable votes for Shipperley and Hulse, leaving the dream squad thus:
1. Paddy Kenny
2. Matt Lowton
3. Wayne Quinn
4. Nick Montgomery
5. Chris Morgan
6. Phil Jagielka
7. Michael Brown
8. Stuart McCall
9. James Beattie
On the no.8 run off for the nightmare squad, Stokes "won" by an unsurprising landslide, leaving that squad thus:
1. Steve Simonsen
2. Daryl Westlake
3. Gary Flitcroft
4. Danny Higginbotham
5. Rob Kozluk
6. Nyron Nosworthy
7. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing
8. Anthny Stokes
We need another run off for the no.9. Lupoli, Thomas and Ward all got no votes. Porter got one, but I have disallowed it as a self confesssed "joke" from Racy, so he goes in the mix (and whilst I am on the subject, what is the point of such "jokes"? A few people have voted for obvious joke candidates, so I think its been done to death and is not funny anymore if you are over 12)
Time for the no.10's. My designated nightmare candidates here are Hayles and Reid . Anyone voting for them will have their votes disallowed unless they post a reasoned justification in the thread.
As before, you only vote for the time they wore the no.9 shirt. Players wore other numbers as follows:
Peschisolido: no.16 Jan-Feb 01, no.8 01-02
Webber: no 25 March-May 05
Beattie: no.6 07-08, no.9 08-09

Went for Devlin for that one brief period when he was unplayable and ripping the arse off everybody.

I think anyone voting for Cadamateri, Reid, Bogdanovic and quite possibly Beattie should need to explain themselves as well...

Peschisolido for me...

I liked Webber, but the lack of consistency was his main problem (as well as hitting the post against Wigan...). Voted Pesch, although he wasn't as influential all the time, but...#t=272

Thanks for that Wilf......made the hairs on the back of my neck stand!

It's between Pesch & Devlin for me but Pesch takes the honours thanks to this single moment that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Devlin for me. Just edging out Webber. Devlin was a cracking player. A complete tosser, but boy could he play. When on form he gave opposition defenders a torrid time. In a pretty poor squad, he stood out as the shining light. Webber was a great buy (can you believe we shifted the useless Gray for over a mill and brought Webber in for 500k?) and was good in the (2nd half) of the promotion season. However he did not quite cut it in the Prem and struggled with form afterwards. Pesch comes 3rd, as he gave us some great memories. From my memory Peschisolido had a great impact coming off the bench, but struggled to make an impact when he started. My personal feeling is that voters are letting sentiment get in the way. For me Devlin was a much better player in a Blades shirt.

Same top 3 as Olly for me, for the same reasons. #10 certainly not as high-quality as the #9 list is it!

I think you're right about the sentiment to be fair. But the impact of that season just means a bit more to to me than Devlin's play which was more influential and consistent over a longer period of time, I agree.

Devlin for me.

Good United teams have always had good wingers and we haven't really replaced Devlin or Ndlovu to this day.

Webber , yes he hit the post v Wigan ( more upset with the penalty miss v chelsea at 0-0 ) , but over the 4 seasons gave far more than he took away , and scored the goal that ensured prem football in the first place

I think Devlin & Webber were both by far superior players to Peschisolido.

Most people are voting Peschi based on the Forest game IMO.

Although that is my all time favourite game & and potentially favourite ever moment, Paul Devlin was more consistent in his game for me than Peschisolido & Webber.

When you consider Devlin was a midfielder rather than CF too his goals/games ratio wasn't too shabby.

Webber 1 in 4.9
Peschi 1 in 4.4
Devlin 1 in 6.1

That for me puts him as the front runner above players that were paid to score goals.

If you put that into a 46 game season...

Webber would score 9 goals
Peschi 10
Devlin 7.

Devlin for me!

Some really fair comments about everyone. There are 1 or 2 major disappointments on that list. Pesch and Webber were good servants, but I've gone for Devlin because he did so well in a very mediocre side as stated by others. Met Nick Blackman last year, in the bowling alley at Oxford United. Smashing lad, just a pity he wasn't here longer.

Pesch for me. No contest, quite possibly my favourite player of the period in question

I think its a disgrace if sheff utds greatest ever number (since 1999) 10 is a player who couldnt even get in the first team

Pigs will lap it up

Paul Devlin for me. I remember Peschisolido with far more fondness but as others have said that was largely due to his impact off the bench. Devlin for long periods was unplayable.

He might be at a slight disadvantage age-wise, but at 63 and in his raincoat, Tony Currie would murder all of them.

Not good enough to carry his bag.

How Beattie has any votes for his half of a season with Wilson is beyond me... He accumulated 2 red cards + 0 goals...
