Well done vini, what a performance, we will be lucky to keep him if he plays like that regularly, hopefully last year was a settling into a new country / lifestyle, but once again well done

Thought he were fantastic last night. Attitude is polar opposite to last season, strong (almost laughably so.. literally steamed through several players with the ball last night) very good shield for the back line, also great going forwards playing the occasional Hollywood ball with short, tick over passes. Very very good foundation to build on.

Think the mental load of last year took its toll on a lot of players last year more than we appreciated. Said repeatedly we think of players as Robots, not human beings.

New season, new start, new faces, worse opposition. Think a few might surprise us… Slimane and Trusty I think could be in this bracket 👀

No downside of Souza playing well. At worst drums up interest and price.

He was great yesterday but I still have doubts that he is good enough when things get tougher. Let's hope he proves me wrong.

Controversial maybe and finances determined.....but if we end the window and stil have Vini, Anel and Hamer....HMS piss the league is leaving dock

As people have, said some were driving him to Fulham not so long ago, he like all the others should be better at this level, let's hope the good start continues and we can get some confidence up over the next few weeks as he blend the new lads in, but it's early days, utb

He did ok for me.
Nothing to knock one out over.
I think when the comparison is against his abilities/performances last year, albeit in a higher league, it's easy to see him as the nexr world beater.
It's one game against poor opposition, and although some of the stuff brought a smile to my face, his shot in the first half reminded me of the limitations we saw last season.
Maybe this is his level and he will flourish. I hope so because he seems a really nice bloke and I wish him nothing but success.

As well as he played lastnight he does need to stop the passing the ball blindly around the corner. He dud it a few times lastnight and when not under pressure so it needlessly gave it back to the opposition. Early days yet so hopefully things can only go better 🙏

Fucks wrong with you all???? Thought we were fighting over who was going to drive him to Fulham??
My cars still warmed up 😉 played really well against poor opposition,he probably thinks he is the shop window for bigger things. Him and Anel were shining lights. The 2nd Match only that he has lived up to his own hype, hopefully a lot more to come. 8 out of 10,whittled down because he didn’t point enough.

Imagine being a midfielder last season.
When being closed down by the opposition there was rarely an option....a team mater showing for the ball wanting it.
Our tactic was for a midfield player to pass it to Norwood and he's have no option but to hoof it upfield to little Beni,Osula or McBurnis head.
They would be out fought by 2 central defenders and we'd lose possession.

Confidence is massive when playing a keep possession game.
Think Callum O'Hare has transformed our midfield more than people realise.
He runs towards the midfielder in possession showing for the ball.
As O'Hare 1st touch and one touch passing is so good then our midfielders can pass the ball to O'Hare even when he's semi marked up.
This takes the pressure off all the midfielders because they have options to keep possession.

Once a midfielder functions as a group, where every player is comfortable on the ball and knows how each colleague plays
THEN it can function effectively in the Premier league because at that level being able to cool the game by keeping possession is massive.
It gives the defences a rest from constant pressure, so even the defenders appear better.

MOTM for me. Always said Vini will flourish with the right players around him....plus maybe, at this moment in time Championship is his level.....?
We were saying this in the pub after the match.

Perhaps the Premier League was a step too far for him, and there’s no shame in that, it’s the best league in the world.

I reckon he’ll have a decent season this season.

I've said this lad needs a championship season to bed in ! If we do manage promotion he'll be a lot better in the premiership also his partnership with blaster will be solid by then

Agreed.

I think we’ll really see him grow as a player this season.

Even Kevin de bruyne took a while to adapt. Much more physical in english leagues. Takes time for most players coming in from the continent. Little bennie traore done ever so well at basel. Couple of years he even could take the step. Emphasis more on skill and teqnique on the continent than here.

Just illustrates the gulf between the Prem and the Championship. In the Prem he's on a team who can't keep possession and are chasing shadows, against a middling Championship team , he's a level above and can run the show.
I think there is a way to make Souza look poor in the Championship as well. Choose the wrong formation, play him at RCM, pick a patched up, unbalanced side with no momentum, little goal threat and defenders that can't stop the opposition, the result would probably be similar to last season.

Thankfully our strategy has changed.

Only foot wrong was the shot. He was brilliant and if he plays like that will give the players infront of him time to shine
I can just imagine Brazils manager watching last night and thinking, "Mmmmm, maybe we should have a look at this guy and give him a chance".
Then he hits the most UnBrazilian type of shot and he thinks, "Oh Well, let's finish that box set off Duck".
